Matthew Cronin

This movie is underrated, and the sequel is one of my favorite dc movies. LFG.

Matthew Cronin

Starfire is from Teen Titans, it’s a really good show and comic series starring Robin/Nightwing

Narutoanime16

There's a sequel ? Oh you mean the Apocolypse one right

Narutoanime16

Omg Yess I love this one seeing Supes and Batman together in a very political scenario with so many other things happening from Luthors end

Matthew Cronin

It picks up immediately after this one

James Wayne

The film came out in 2009. Don't know why it says 2016

Don’t worry all the heroes and villains u saw in this are gonna appear in justice league and justice league unlimited as well as hundreds of other dc characters u have yet to see. Can’t wait and the comic this is based on is amazing. Also “worlds finest” is essentially the team name of bats/supes but when they’re with wonder woman they become “the trinity”. Lastly Shazam’s original name used to be captain marvel but there was a right dispute with marvel and they had to change it to that but theres so much more to it than that i recommend u watch one of the many documentaries on it. Loved this movie as a kid and i have it on dvd still to this day.

Power Girl didn’t do anything with radiation, that character that was exploding, and Captain Atom, have really weird powers. They aren’t wearing a costume, that’s just their skin, and they don’t have bones or organs, it’s just nuclear energy in there… and Power Girl gut punched him so hard his skin tore.

"That was my best friend..." Awww classic Clark. I loved that part. Captain Marvel is not to be confused with Captain Marvel from the Marvel movies. This is so confusing. Okay so Captain Marvel (this version) was written in the 1939, and for a bit was actually as popular as Superman in the 40s. This Captain Marvel had nothing to do with Marvel Comics, it was just a coincidence. But since Marvel Comics also now has a character called Captain Marvel, well now DC's Captain Marvel is now called Shazam. It's just easier this way. So long story short that was Shazam. Also I have that same reaction to Zach Levi, I thought that was funny. Captain Atom is essentially an atomic/radioactive version of Captain America, that's all I know about him. I grew up with the Static Shock the cartoon, so I was surprised that Black Lightning came first. I do wonder why the cartoon wasn't about Black Lightning, but I would guess legal rights. I know that in the late 90's early 20's that some DC cartoons couldn't mention certain characters because of weird copyrights or something. So that might explain why they created the brand new Static Shock character, they might not have wanted to pay royalties or something. Also around the time that the static shock cartoon came out Teen Titans was also airing, and yes Starfire is part of the Teen Titans. The Teen Titans cartoon alternates between silly/funny and then really sad/deep so quickly. It was pretty good.

Yea wtf this movie came out in 2009 the 2016 label is wrong lol

I'm so excited you watched this. This is still one of my favorite movies of our World's Finest (Superman and Batman). I just love the dynamic and dialogue between the two of them in this movie so much and it makes me hope that their best friend relationship will be like this in James Gunn's DCU. Also this film originally came out in 2009 so I'm not sure why it said 2016. Captain Atom and Major Force, they were both part of a military experiment that used a combination of nuclear physics and an alloy known as Dilustel that was cut from an alien known as Silver Shield. This resulted in both Captain Atom and Major Force having their skin basically turned into the alien alloy, while also gaining the ability to access the Quantum field and being able to manipulate energy. Since they are made of living energy now, they are basically walking nuclear reactors and if they were severely damaged like what happened Major Force in this after Power Girl gut punched him, they can overheat and if not contained could result in an explosion that would be akin to multiple nuclear bombs going off. Although with Captain Atom, he is depicted as a hero, where as Major Force is usually depicted as an evil foil to him and a villain to the Green Lanterns, specifically against Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner, and Kyle Rayner. One thing I will say that I didn't like about the movie is how they utilized the other villains that were attacking Superman and Batman as they basically nerfed a lot of them. But just to give you an idea of who some of these characters were, the screaming woman was known as Silver Banshee whose a Superman villain. All the ice themed villains that ganged up on Batman were Captain Cold (Flash villain), Killer Frost (Flash villain), Icicle (Justice Society villain), and Mr Freeze (Batman villain). The really tall woman is known as Giganta whose a Wonder Woman villain. The telepathic gorilla that was controlling Mongul, Solomon Grundy and Nightshade is Gorilla Grodd whose another Flash villain. I won't go into the others as theres too many and I also don't know too much about the others Power Girl is actually an older version of Supergirl from an alternate universe. You are correct that Captain Marvel is Shazam but Captain Marvel is his original name. There's a whole lot of drama regarding with the Captain Marvel name and character between DC and Marvel but Captain Marvel and Shazam in DC are the same character. I won't go into him as you'll see him in the Justice League Unlimited show and there's also an animated movie that does a better job at adapting him over the live action movie. Hawkman is another interesting character with a cool history and is a founding member of the Justice Society and core member of the Justice League. Hiro Okamura is the third person to have the name Toyman but like in this movie, he's depicted more as an ally to Superman and he actually debuted in the graphic novel this movie was based on. And yes Starfire is part of the Teen Titans and a founding member too. I hope you watch the original cartoon at some point as well. It's not connected to the shows you're watching now so you can watch it whenever I can't wait for you to get to know more about a few of these characters as some of them do show up in the Justice League and Justice League Unlimited shows. As well as learning more from reading some good comics they are in. Also to answer your question for when you can watch Static Shock, you can start it after you finish both BTAS and STAS as season 1 is not only only 13 episodes but it's not really connected to anything in DC until season 2. Another thing from what you said regarding the voice actors, you can thank the casting and voice director Andrea Romano. She's an icon herself as well as she was part of not only this but also BTAS, STAS, Batman Beyond, Static Shock, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited and a whole list of other animated projects. Plus from interviews I've seen, she's just an awesome person that even Kevin Conroy and many others have said the same thing. But thanks again Meg!! Can't wait for when you watch the sequel to this Superman/Batman: Apocalypse and for more DC reactions this summer!! And I hope we get some DC readalongs soon too!

Wonderful video from the megmage as always, and to answer that last question the dc character Azrael sold me based on his design alone. Flaming swords are just cool idk. For now I won't dive into it, but I hope that someday I can give my opinion on why I believe chosen/found family is at the heart of DC Comics. Also this might be my favorite channel you and Caleb are just wonderful human beings.

Spidey Productions

one of the best and the superman/Batman apocalypse movie is amazing also

HeroesKey

Also I’m with you on that line from Superman. “That was my best friend. And you just killed him!” Same goes for “do me a favor and lose the sense of humor. Do us both a favor and buy one.” The banter between Batman and Superman is why I love them so much and why this movie is so good!

Angarl

Captain Marvel was the original name for the character now known as Shazam. Due to some complicated rights ownership stuff DC Comics used to own the name "Captain Marvel" and it was only in 2012 that a deal was reached with Marvel to sell the name back to them. This is just the TLDR of the full story.

Batman and Superman versus the world. Guess who wins? This actually came out in 2009 but it should have been 2016. Agents of SHIELD did some more timely commentary on the issue in its 2016 season, hope you get around to watching it some day. Lots of heroes and villains from across the DC universe showing up for this cameo action-fest. Captain Atom/Cpt. Nathaniel Adams is particularly notable, being the most powerful nuclear-powered hero but being an actual captain in the US military sometimes sets him at odds with the Justice League. Black Lightning is more like the inspiration for the more junior Static.

Brodie Vickers

Oh brilliant! Will definitely be watching this a little later🎉Looking forward to more Superman TAS soon too. Like others have said, Starfire is from Teen Titans, pretty certain you’d absolutely ❤️the ‘03 show! Dick was the leader for at least the first 2 rosters of the team.. him and Star were knockin’ boots for a good couple years. I could definitely see you cosplaying as her and Raven😄

Matthew Cronin

I mean you don’t have to spoil it but yeah

Brodie Vickers

Don't know if you've read Superman & Batman Generations which I sent you a little while back, but that's another great journey about their relationship😊I think it might have been the 1st book I'd read about either of them (might have watched a cartoon) would have been 7, but as you said: you recognize the costumes and the colours. After re-reading it, god fuckin' damn does it get dark for a 7 year old😂I was telling my folks about the plot not very long ago, and they were horrified.. it must have rolled right off my back at the time hahah

Brodie Vickers

Justice League would have been where I 1st met most of these characters, especially Captain Atom❤️

Brodie Vickers

Mongul and Major Force have been responsible for causing the Earth GL’s a lot of grief, especially Hal and Kyle Rayner😢You’ll be saying hello to him a little later😊

Brandon Gibbs

This was one animated movie where Superman & Batman actually worked together instead of mostly bickering at each other. Also YES you should totally check out Static Shock as I suggested to you before!

Brodie Vickers

Black Lightning had his own successful show too, though I never watched it. It’s still on Netflix! At least in the UK👍

Basment of Owls

Clancy Brown is SO Good at Lex Luthor. He’s just so good and effortless at making him charming and intelligent but also can make him seem insane and 100% convay his career Hater status.

Casey

Knew you’d love this one! Yeah, Batman and Superman are at their best when they’re besties. Fun fact: in the comics, Superman has said multiple times that he knows the sound of Batman’s heartbeat and keeps an ear out for it with his super hearing.

Narutoanime16

This reaction was so good I had to REWATCH IT! Love seeing Clark and Bruce work together and them being genuine friends is life ugh your gonna love Justice League the show its sooo damn good just gotta finish Superman hurry lol

Kade

I have my issues with the DCAU crossover, with the whole Lois love triangle and all, but this is how you do a World’s Finest teamup!

Paul Wright

Black Lightning is still on Netflix in the US today, but i think it'll be leaving by the end of this year.
