Just so you know, the next episode of Superman sets things up for the 2nd episode of Justice League and episode 9 of Superman sets things up for the 3rd episode of Justice League

Yeah this was a another really great episode! And your right that Jax-Ur and Mala are based on General Zod and Ursa. In fact, when you were questioning why Mala sounds different, it's because they changed the voice actor. But what's interesting is that the actress they replaced her with was Sarah Douglas, who played Ursa in the first two Christopher Reeve Superman movies. You're also right on the last episode that we heard Superman do a voiceover was the Late Mr. Kent when Clark was believed to be dead. I don't believe they ever identify the people or the planet that Jax-Ur and Mala took over but I do like that it essentially showcased colonialism and how it affects the native/local people. One thing I love about Superman in comparison to Jax-Ur and Mala is that he could very easily do what they did to that planet but on Earth. Superman could've ruled over Earth if he wanted to. But the thing that's so great about Superman and something I've seen other fans mention and in relation to the title of the episode and the quote you brought up is that because of his upbringing in Smallville by the Kents, he represents that power doesn't always corrupt because the one who possesses the power is good. It's one the reasons why Lex has a problem with Superman because he both questions and fears why Superman doesn't just take over the world with the powers he has? It's because it's not who he is and what he represents. I also love that he understands and knows his powers, to the point he knows that a fight between him, Jax-Ur and Mala would cause massive destruction to the planet, which is why he told Cetea he didn't want to fight them. Plus we've seen the type of destruction two Kryptonians can cause in the Man of Steel movie. But this was an awesome episode! I can't wait for the next one cause I know it's a really good one! Bubble. Good discussion. Jax-Ur was voiced by Hellboy by the way, Ron Perlman himself. Yeah I do think you're right that it was pettiness that involved them trying to take earth again. It's interesting that Superman was happy to fight Jax-Ur and Mala on the ship at the end since their planet wasn't in danger of collateral damage. Superman apparently can hold his breath for a long time. Also when Mala is groping that main guard, the animation showing how disgusted that guy Alterus is, is so well done. You can feel how awful he feels.

'Although Cetea's people were grateful for my help, I wondered if it wasn't I who should be grateful. They reminded me of a saying: "Evil triumphs when good men do nothing". I won't forget it again.' More topical now than ever. Absolute Power only consumes. Jax-Ur might have even gotten away with it and had his own personal kingdom if he hadn't chosen to be petty and prepare an invasion fleet out of spite. But then, he and Mala can't help but be petty, can't help but take the smallest slight as an insult and expend ridiculous amounts of time and resources seeking to to avenge it. The immature mindset of the typical dictator. This is sort of a more safely removed version of the dilemma Superman faces when people suggest he go down to the Middle East and start busting heads. Good ear. Mala is indeed voiced by Sarah Douglas here instead of Leslie Easterbrook from her previous episodes.
