That might be peak DC. I watched this last night and kinda haven't stopped crying about it lmao

I am SHOOKETH by that twist, and also IMMENSELY grateful that as a community, you all did not lead me astray, did not allow spoilers to reach my ears, etc. I have not felt this bamboozled but also taken care of emotionally in a while!!

So much of both seasons were preparing for us to recognize the threat/villain. I remembered how Aresia fell into villainhood because of a story she got stuck on. Same goes with Thanagar. The idea of perpetual victimhood can lead to villainy, deceit, and at its worst? Fascism! And the Justice League is so anti-fascism and corruption, while promoting chosen family, unique identity, and shadow integration, so it's perfect. This has to be one of the greatest DC finales ever, where the shock of the twist, the masked off Justice League, the painful romance were all well earned.

Thankful for you and the DCU for showing me what it truly means to be a superhero. Thank you for supporting this work--the emotions and conversations--I hope you can feel some satisfaction in knowing this is one of the best things I've watched!!

I hope everyone is having a cozy, safe holiday season! We're visiting family but will return with more Clone Wars, Marvel/DC movies, and book talks soon. Also going to start the Fallout show when I get back!! Love you 💖

This. I have waited for so long for your reaction to this. I will watch this episode/reaction as soon as I can and really cherish it

The Amazing Webhead

A Amazing finale! I’m excited to watch it. The show foreshadowed the reveal of the betrayal since the first episode of s2 when Jo’nn and Hawkgirl were discussing Thanagar. Later in the Dream episode, Jo’nn couldn’t go in her mind because she purposely shield it off to prevent them from knowing her secret. Also why she didn’t want to be with GL despite her feelings. The cover up backstory of her being a space cop is true and canon to the comics but her being a spy is different cause like in the episode, she did turn her back on her planet in the comics. There’s more to the Hawkgirl lore in canon but can’t spoil for future DC content. I know in Injustice you saw her ending where they mention Hawkman, Hro Talak isn’t him. A lot of emotional moments, funny scenes, & payoff to everything you saw in the show. It’s been a journey and there’s more to come. I am excited for whatever comes next. I know it’s not over as there’s the sequel show, “JL Unlimited” but I’m curtain others will bring up Batman Beyond which is recommended to view before getting into Unlimited. If you watch Beyond, I be ok with watching the best/important episodes if you feel like it’s a lot. Same idea if Static Shock is also a possibility. I’m fine with whatever show you’ll decide to see. There’s so many great DC & Marvel shows that are amazing but not talked about much aside from the fan bases. Spectacular Spider-Man, Teen Titans, Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, etc. So many great ones to pick. ^^ Regardless of what happens, I’m hyped for the future.

To answer your question Meg, not only did Warner Bros. release this as movie months later, on the night it premiered, Cartoon Network aired it as a 90 minute special. Fun fact: if you look hard enough, you’ll probably find an intro that was made specifically for Starcrossed.

The Northlander

Very happy to have made this journey with you Meg!! Thank you so much! For what's next, I recommend watching Batman Beyond and Static Shock next to each other, like when you did Batman and Superman, that way the two shows can act as palette cleansers for each other. But however you do it, I'll be here! 👍

So to follow this up Batman Beyond would be the logical choice next, Static Shock is much less linked than any of the other shows, but is good and Static is a groundbreaking hero in his own right. so is worth watching for that reason perhaps at the same time as Beyond Justice League Unlimited has the full finale for Batman Beyond in its 2nd season which is why it's relevant to at least finish Batman Beyond by then.

Armando Castillo

Yaaaay we here. I signed up because I wanted to watch your justice league reactions. And you didn't disappoint I love your takes you're insights. I personally would love if you jumped into unlimited but I get some fans would have loved beyond before u get to unlimited. it was never my thing but I'd watch it with you for sure

Yeaaah! This was great! It's been an awesome journey getting here. I think I found your channel like 3 years ago because I was searching for Superman: The Animated Series reactions, watched a few batman reactions you had on youtube, then found that you had just started Superman on patreon, and 3 years later here we are. At the very least watching the pilot episodes of Batman: Beyond and Static Shock would be very cool. Batman Beyond was such a good show. Also I think you'll love the Fallout show.

Now THIS was quite a 3-part finale! It was a real shame Hawkgirl had to turn out to be a spy for the invading Thanagarians all along and their commander was her former fiancee all along too. She did betray them for a while, but when she found out the were gonna sacrifice earth for their own world she couldn't let that happen. So Hawkgirl turned on the Thanagarians and saved the league and all of earth. Unfortunately she resigned at the end. Now it's time fo JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS MEG!!!🎄

This was definitely one of the greatest pieces of Television from back in the day! I remember watching it as a 90 minute special on Cartoon Network, and having it on both VHS and DVD as a kid. When it comes to Hawkgirl, her backstory isn't always like this, being sent to spy on earth. As for Hro Talak, he's not Hawkman, he's someone completely different, but heavily influenced and inspired by Hawkman but meant to be a darker version/take, and if I'm not mistaken, he was created for the show as a completely new character. Apparently the writers of the show knew from day one that they wanted for Shayera to be traitor/spy and kept it under wraps until the very end. As for what you could watch next, i definitely recommend Batman Beyond, and Static Shock as well, but i think you can prioritize Batman Beyond a bit more, as it does tie into the larger DCAU more than Static Shock does, however both shows are great in my honest opinion. Not every episodes is important in Batman Beyond, but there are many great ones there, and the same goes for Static Shock. And if you do get far enough into Batman Beyond, there's a tie-in movie that takes place between season 2 and 3, and it's one of the best animated Batman movies of all time, that's for sure. Great reaction as always!

Coda Silverman

To answer your question, yes. This was sold as a move on dvd. The 3 part opener for season one and the 3 part finally of season 2 were always popular choices for movie night for me and my siblings growing up.

Unlimited has some episodes that are even more peak, I think its a must to atleast react to the pilot episode of batman beyond and then watch some of the best episodes if youre not intererested to watch it all, because one episode of justice league unlimited has big connections with batman beyond and its kinda of a must watch for me, and also the stand alone movie of batman beyond its a must personally, because its one of the best batman stories.

Denickart

I think the most essential Static Shock episodes are: Shock to the System(S1, Ep 1) Aftershock(S1, Ep 2) The Breed(S1, Ep 3) They're Playing My Song(S1, Ep 5) Sons of the Fathers(S1, Ep 8) Bent Out of Shape(S1, Ep 10) Tantrum(S1, Ep 13) The Big Leagues(S2, Ep 1) Frozen Out(S2, Ep 5) Bad Stretch(S2, Ep 8) Jimmy(S2, Ep 11) Hard as Nails(S3, Ep 1) Gear(S3, Ep 2) Static in Africa(S3, Ep 3) A League of Their Own(S3, Eps 6-7) Consequences(S3, Ep 9 but takes place during S2) Toys in the Hood(S3, Ep 12) Flashback(S3, Ep 14) Blast From the Past(S3, Ep 15) Future Shock(S4, Ep 1) Out of Africa (S4, Ep 3) Fallen Hero(S4, Ep 4) Power Outage(S4, Ep 13)

Bryan Burns

Batman Beyond pilot episode, Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, that’s pretty much all you need lol, if she watches both of those i’ll be happy there’s a Batman Beyond episode with the future Justice League but it’s weirdly unrelated to this Justice League seeing as this show didn’t exist yet so it wasn’t really canon to the universe at that point, and there’s a pretty cool one with Ra’s which i’m sure she would love but i don’t consider it super vital to the lore or anything

Chimpman

So excited to rewatch this and get your thoughts after work tonight!

A reaction I was waiting for so much! Just from the description and your amazing reaction, now you understand why this show is so iconic to so many fans. Some things to mentioned for clarification on things. Hro Talak is actually not Hawkman as he is an original character but he is based on the Katar Hol version of Hawkman. Another thing that you asked about if Hawkgirl betraying is canon. It is only to this show's universe (DCAU) as the creative team kept Hawkgirl's betrayal a secret to the point that they made an entire origin for her that was mostly fake so that it wouldn't be spoiled. You mentioning if you should be worried about Hawkgirl in the DCU from the Superman 2025 movie, I don't think so. The reason is because the version of Hawkgirl in the show is Shayera Hol but the one in the movie is Kendra Saunders. And in the comics and most other iterations, Shayera Hol actually goes by Hawkwoman and not Hawkgirl. The thing about Hawkman and Hawkgirl is that they have one of the most confusing origins because of how their story plays out in the comics, even by fans it's hard to follow. I also love that you finally got to see Wally West's face and red hair, which now you can see the difference between him and Barry Allen, at least when they have their cowls off since they sometimes do wear similar suits when they're Flash. I did love that moment that Shayera had with Alfred and reassuring her that she will always be a hero. I love how he is always there for not just Batman but the other heroes too. I know Justice League Unlimited is the sequel to this show but I really hope you check out at least the first episodes of both Batman Beyond and Static Shock first and then some of the best/notable episodes of both shows since I'm sure you won't be watching all the episodes. I only say this because there are elements from Batman Beyond and Static Shock that are in Justice League Unlimited as both shows came before Justice League and Justice League Unlimited. Plus I'm really curious as to what you think of both shows since you've been safe from any spoilers for the shows. But thanks for the amazing episode to such an iconic show Meg! Hope you have an amazing rest of your year with Caleb, Yuna and Bumi. Can't wait for more DC, Marvel and Star Wars content next year!! I'm hoping you do more book talks for DC and Marvel comics like you did with Star Wars. I'm interested to see what you think of the Fallout show as thats a show I've been meaning to watch for a while. Also I hope you'll still have time to do misc reactions cause I do have some DC and Marvel lore videos for you as well as some wrestling videos too!

Best Christmas present. Glad to see you enjoyed it. Definitely the kind of story that the multi-part format was made for. As usual, Alfred is the best. Not even an alien invasion shakes him. Like the others Hawkgirl/Hawkman's backgrounds have varied with continuity and the Thanagarians are far from the most vital thing to it. More Shayera/Talak backstory to come in Justice League Unlimited, which I honestly consider an even higher peak than this, ditching the 2-part format by cutting a lot of the fat without losing any of the stories' emotional intensity. The transition to JLU is so seamless they may as well be one show with 5 seasons, though it's up to you if you want to sample Batman Beyond/Static Shock first. Happy holidays y'all, may next year be better than this one.

Owen Wildish

I've been waiting for this! I got the DVD of Starcross, and it had a mini-documentary segment where they had planned this twist from the beginning... the reaction I'm most looking forward to once you've done most of the animated DC films is the Justice League Crisis on Infinite Earths movie trilogy, but I highly recommend you don't rush into them too soon as there's a massive suprise spoiler in the third film...

reformedbritta

About your question about Hawkgirl in Superman (2025). That’s actually Kendra Saunders who is a separate, distinct character from Shayera Hol. There are multiple characters who take on the mantle of “Hawkgirl” Kendra is a human Latina woman who grew up on Earth while Shayera is a Thanagarian police officer. Neither are the original Hawkgirl who goes back to the golden age. Shayera was also going by “Hawkwoman” by the time Kendra turned up. Hawkman / Hawkgirl lore is some of the most convoluted and heavily retconned in all of DC. The Thanagarian alien element is only sometimes a factor. Reincarnation and Ancient Egypt is another big thing in their lore. The most consistent element across all the different iterations is actually the presence of nth metal. They also have lots of ties to Vandal Savage in their history

Can't wait for Justice League Unlimited!!

Armando Castillo

Spectacular and earths mightiest is a must!!

Hime Idol's IM@S Video Requests

Justice League and Justice League Unlimited are some of the best series to ever be created. I do highly suggest you watch some Batman Beyond before going into JLU. There will be a few episodes referencing stuff from BB. Episodes recommended: Rebirth and The Call Also recommend watching Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker movie as you'll see what happened to the Bat family prior to BB. If you don't go the route of watching some BB episodes before JLU, I HIGHLY encourage you skip JLU episode Epilogue until you do watch some BB. There's a few Static Shock episodes you should watch as well to introduce you to the character before JLU. Shock to the System, A League of Their Own, Fallen Hero

Kevin Bernard

Maybe static shock first then justice league unlimited Batman was always part of the justice league. He just wasn't a full timer. He was only a part-time member. To answer your question about Jon being in the mind of that birdman soldier; it had nothing to do with the old god they once worshipped. Jon was trying to get to the core of his mind since he couldn't read it at all, and the fire he dumped over was his protected memories, so once he was able to get it all out he seen everything he needed

5Myllyon

At the very least there are like 10 episodes that are must watch for Static imo. The Pilot, the Gun Violence episode, Shaq Episode etc.

Kevin Bernard

It was a great show. I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did. There isn't much in the comics

Saint Heartfilia

Hi! I found your YT channel and Patreon based on your Justice League reactions. And I LOVE how you apply this shows teachings well over 20 years ago to what's going on in the world TODAY. I'm here, I'm a fan. And I can't wait for you to react to Justice League Unlimited.

Galactica Gaming

Not sure if you reply to comments but will you be watching Justice League Unlimited? It's sooo good!
