Dude, no. Thanos plan is stupid and poorly thought out. There are multiple different plans he could have enacted instead of genocide.

Right, people forget he was omnipotent with all 6 stones. Like when he was a normal member of the species that's facing overpopulation and societal collapse, that might have been a more reasonable plan to think up. But after he became a God? Capital G, not little g like Ego...after he became that? Not even a little revision to his plan? Still carry out the plan to the letter? That's just him coping with his trauma of losing his home and making the universe pay for it.

The one time I wish I wasn't at work lol looking forward to hearing your thoughts love this film its crazy how much the directors and editors and prop makers are able to do in 2 hours. I like how well written thanos is it reminded me of Fisk there both doing the things they think is right for their own reasons

Chris

Well my evening is planned, so excited for this

Nice job, Caleb, interrupted the ending of the movie lol. I'm kidding 😅 This movie is quite literally my favorite in the MCU, and to me, it is a perfectly written movie. Thanos, while being the villain, is the protagonist of this film. He has the most screen time out of all characters, and he is the one we follow while he goes on a journey and is changed by the experience. Thanos doesn't really lie. Manipulation isn't always lying. He doesn't manipulate with false truths. He's ALWAYS honest and a man of his word. He's definitely my favorite part of this movie. I was floored by how he carried himself. Thanos was not really sent by the universe, but he certainly is a force of nature. Unstoppable. Maybe I'm just man crushing on him, but he has qualities that some of my favorite heroes have. He has a determination that is nigh unbreakable, just like my boy Steve. He is willing to give his all for this mission, which I think proves he's not doing this for selfish reasons. He's doing it because he truly does believe in it. He saw his own home planet die due to overpopulation, and no one listened to his plan to save them. He probably grew bitter, thinking that it would have worked if they tried it. What's worse, is that apparently he saved Gamoras homeworld by manually killing half the population, and so that proves his concept as possible, which makes him think, "If it works here, it can work everywhere." Thus starts his master plan to cause this on a Universal Scale. He's selfless too, not in a good way, but he's willing to give his all to "Save" the Universe. He sheds his armor, like a Holy Man, going on a peaceful journey. He's blinded from the trauma of losing his home and obsessed with proving his concept right. This is all backed up by a literal God Complex. It's not mere narcissism. He believes he is destined to do this. That its his purpose. That's a very dangerous thing, to believe in your purpose THAT much. But I think all of this is also how we know he does indeed love Gamora. It's an unhealthy, abusive relationship, but he does care for her. A small detail I love is that when he and Gamora travel to Vormir for the Soul Stone, when the Red Skull starts talking, Thanos keeps Gamora behind him keeping her shielded with his arm, protective like a parent against a possible enemy. Think about it. He literally gave everything he has. He has no armies, His "Children" in the Black Order as they're called, are dead. Worse, he lost probably the only thing he's ever truly loved, Gamora, who he had to kill. You can see it broke him to do it, but thats how wholeheartedly he thinks he's meant to do this. That moment at the end, Thanos enters the Soul world. It's a mini world inside the Soul Stone, which is why Gamora is there. Her soul was sacrificed to it. She asks him what it cost him. Everything. All that's left for him to do is sit in quiet contemplation, looking at the sunrise upon a "Grateful" Universe. Also, Caleb is right yeah its about resources. And on our Earth in reality, we don't struggle with overpopulation, we actually are dealing with underpopulation. But in his mind, the life that is left will use their resources more wisely and will thrive, like Gamoras planet. I kinda wanted Thanos to win here. Not because I want to see our heroes suffer, but because of what Thanos gave, how he carried himself. He wanted it more than anyone. Villains who are selfish and evil aren't really willing to sacrifice in order to gain. They are too greedy to give anything. But Thanos gave everything. Now he's vindicated. The only other villain I've had this much support or empathy for is Darth Vader. One other thing, I have to gush about Steve when he held back Thanos. I love Captain America and his will. He can do this all day, and that's why he's such an awesome hero. It looked like Thanos even recognized it in his eyes. Like he was shocked. "How could a human give this much strength?" 😅 Such a cool moment. The next movie is Ant-Man and The Wasp! Can't wait for you guys to see it! ❤

Every villain is a hero of their own story so in a weird way I admire Thanos no matter how cruel and evil his methods are and his goal is. His backstory in comics is pretty fucked he is basically malformed compared to the rest of his race so he was always an outsider. This is from Marvel's website," From his birth on Saturn's moon of Titan, Thanos was always an outsider. He carries a Deviants gene, which causes his gruesome and misshapen appearance, with purple, rugged skin. He was born among the last sons of Titan's original colonists: Mentor and Sui-San. His mother, shocked to see such an ugly baby, and sensing his potential for evil, tried to kill Thanos at birth, although she was stopped by his father, A'Lars, AKA Mentor. Thanos later killed her for this attempt. Thanos also has a brother, Starfox (AKA Eros), who he was always jealous of, as Starfox was handsome and popular." I by no means am defending him but he is a very interesting character and one of Marvel's best villains

Mage Reacts

Oooooh now I want to read this comic -Meg

Mage Reacts

Although I still hate Thanos with the fire of a billion and three supernovas, I appreciate the thoughtful analysis and input. He’s definitely one of the best written villains I’ve seen or read about. I can’t stop thinking about that sigh of relief at the end…or how badly I want Hulk to be able to slam him around and say “puny god” again 😂 - Caleb

Ceejay Vincent

Been wanting to join for ages and was always unable, though I knew I had to for this!! 💚

Earth Angel Shelbs

this movie kicked my ass the first time i watched it, i was so sad💔i love wanda and vision, it breaks my heart when she loses him. the scarlet witch and the vision comics are some of my favorites. but omg thanos, a villain who truly believes that they’re right and not doing anything wrong is always the scariest to me. he’s playing “god” and saying his plan was basically a universal flood myth as if it was his personal duty to destroy civilizations to create balance. can’t wait for y’all to watch ant-man & the wasp and captain marvel!❤️

Unstablebeast

So thanos's own planet had overpopulation and they didnt have enough resources to survive and they died off. like, rn humanity can support 8 billion, but would we have the recourses to support 80 billion? and throughout the universe how many civilizations have more people than humanity but even less resources. the biggest thing was thanos had directly seen how overpopulation killed his people, and how gamorahs people were barley surviving and starving, but after he killed half of them they thrived and were happy. so you can disagree with him on whether its right or wrong, but his method has been proven to work atleast. Also fun fact, a decent amount of marvel fans kinda agree with thanos in a way

Tony Nav

if someone agrees to do a genocide then they are evil. end of story. seems like the marvel fans who agree with him probably didnt have the best education growing up, or any.

Unstablebeast

Its.....it's not genocide tho. If you're only killing half of the people it's not a genocide, and if the alternative is they all die from lack of resources or barley live starving from lack of resources, some would see that as more cruel to allow happen if you had the power to change it

Earth Angel Shelbs

i think those “decent” amount of fans are just trying to be edgy bc committing persecution and genocide while claiming you’re helping a group of ppl is kinda just fascism

Unstablebeast

It's not genocide tho, genocide would be killing all of humanity, its specifically half at random. Do I agree with Thanos? Not exactly, bit I do see his reasoning. Hell we know humanity and how fucked we can be, eventually we will get to that population overload and most likely we will fight and kill each other over resources anyway
