Batman: Assault on Arkham

YESSSS! Ive been waiting for this day! Your introduction to Amanda Waller and the Suicide Squad or Task Force X as they’re known for. The movie is just a good watch and a good starting point to get to know the Squad as they’re the focus which is smart because we’re seeing Batman through the villains prospective as a antagonist. You now know why the Squad do what they do from all media of comics, films, and games. It’s because Amanda Waller uses them to do her dirty work to have a smaller sentence. Amanda Waller is one of the more important characters in the larger DC world. She’s someone you love to hate but very calculating, wants to protect the world, and one of the few people that can stand up to Batman which you saw in the ending scene. 😂

The canon of this is still pretty sloppy regarding the new Suicide Squad game etc. Pretty much the games pretend that this never happened but it's still a really fun film and I guess you're first intro to the Suicide Squad, beyond the little nod to them in Batman Arkham Origins at the end.

I almost forgot that this movie introduces you to Task Force X/The Suicide Squad (or at least a version of them as there are different members in every iteration of them), as well as Amanda Waller. Waller is a very important character in the DC universe so I'm interested to see you learn more about her eventually. Oh and Idk if anyone mentioned this before you watched this but if you noticed a lot of the character designs resemble their designs from the Arkham games and it's because the movie supposedly takes place in the same universe as the games. I don't think it's fully canon to the games but I read that the movie takes place after Arkham Origins but before Arkham Asylum, which explains why Batman's suit looks like the same suit as the one he has in Asylum. Same for Joker's suit (who is actually voiced by Troy Baker and not Mark Hamill). And the designs for Bane, Poison Ivy, Scarecrow, and Riddler. All of them have their looks from the games. Which I think the artists did an incredible job replicating. Also words can't describe how ready and not ready I am for you to watch Justice League and Justice League Unlimited. With how beyond good both shows are, I have a feeling you'll have something to talk about for every single episode cause that's just how amazing they are. Same goes for a lot of the Justice League animated movies. Some of my favorite DC movies are the animated Justice League movies. So I'm excited for those. Also speaking of another favorite, I'm beyond hyped for you to watch The Dark Knight Returns Part 1 and 2. It's one of my favorite Batman movies next to Mask of the Phantasm and Under the Red Hood. But yeah I'm so ready for your reaction to all of this and the wave of emotions you're probably going to go through when you watch them. But loved this reaction!

Finally saw the reaction! It was fun. The cool thing with each member is every version of the team has villains from not just Batman but other superheroes. So you’re seeing more world building here. For example, Captain Boomerang is a Flash enemy. To answer about the ending with Harley is mostly because of a flaw about her for a time. It’s that even when she knows The Joker treats her poorly, her twisted love for him always is there and often she never fully had the realization that he’s using her. Joker on the hand through comics has implied to somewhat cared for Harley but his craziness makes him unable to understand the concept of love that abuse is what he does to ignore it. At least that’s what I think but anyone can correct me. Regardless, Joker cares/loves more for Batman than Harley and it’s sad for Harley. :(

Yesss! I love seeing other sides to the villians even though there being forced here and I hate Amanda Waller sooo much, she gets shit done but she takes it to the extreme. Its fun seeing the different dynamics they have with each other happy your getting to see all this lore in DC world

Loved your reaction as always! And yeah, I agree, not giving Harley a moment to stand up to the Joker is a frustrating missed opportunity. Technically this is supposed to take place in the same universe as the Arkham games, so maybe she was going to originally, but they weren’t able to completely change her relationship with the Joker or something like that. As for comics, I highly recommend the run by John Ostrander and various artists. I’ve linked the first volume (out of 8) below: Suicide Squad 1: Trial by Fire https://a.co/d/hrx2CJQ

As stated above this is technically part of Arkham games universe but i am not sure if developers consider this canon anymore. And Joker voice actor in this one was Troy Baker who voiced Joker in Arkham Origins. Im not sure why Mark Hamill didn't do the voice because he usually joins every project Kevin Conroy does. Maybe he was busy or something.
