Oh and if it helps, I've always viewed the comic this is based on as a one off alt Universe/Dimension ''What If'' non-canon in any way thingy, and just enjoy it for what it is; a very well done/written Old Gotham story, cuzz; ''there ain't no way'' ..... #IfYaKnowYaKnow

Ok so this movie is based on the graphic novel by the same name which is a Elseworlds story meaning set in an alternate universe and is non canon to the main comics universe. Because of this, they can do whatever they want with the characters and lore. This one is what would happen if Batman exist in the time period where Jack The Ripper was active. The twist of who it was is invested for the film adaption. That character was never Jack in the comic version that I’m aware of. Lol Was a thing to trick fans who have read the book.

Exactly. Elseworlds are so fun!

I love how they can do a Batman story in anytime period and it works same with any media, and at the begining those 3 kids were the Robins Tim, Dick and Jason they said their names just differently and the older guy said "There my cocky robins I own em" Such a cute detail and Sirus gold the big guy in Prison is supposed to be Solomon grundy before he's turned

Now this is definitely a good one! A Sherlock Holmes type of Batman story. Also Bruce & Selina's romance for each other was explored more personally in this one too. Also The Ripper turned out to be someone you NEVER would've suspected of being him! However this was only one version, don't let this one make you now hate James Gordon in all other versions which are the same good cop we've always known.

Been a while since I've watched this movie but I do know that this is based on the comic of the same name and is another one of the great Batman stories. It's also the first comic to have DC's Elseworlds trademark. As one commenter has already pointed out, Elseworlds are basically stories that take place in completely alternate universes and are not connected to the main DC universe. However, it can be said that they are loosely connected to DC's multiverse. But the Elseworlds stories basically give the writers freedom to do whatever story they want without having to worry about the continuity with the main DC universe. Although there are some Elseworlds story concepts that would be incorporated into the main continuity. Oh and I can't wait for you to watch Soul of the Dragon. There's a certain character in the movie that you've already met in one of the Arkham games and all I will say about them is that the movie does a pretty good job showcasing just how badass they are and I'm ready for you to see it. Also I'm fine with you going kind of out of order with the watch order as I'm sure Ruby keeps track of which one would be best to watch next cause while I'm so ready for you to watch some Justice League movies, I wouldn't want you to be really confused while watching them since I personally feel like that can kind of kill some enjoyment if you're constantly wondering who certain characters are or where they are at in their lives during the period in the movie or generally what's going on in the movie, especially if it involves a character you don't know at all. Kind of like what happened when you met Green Arrow and seeing an already established relationship with Superman and Batman in the Dark Knight Returns. But I'm okay with you going a bit out of order also cause it can be sort of a surprise for us as to what movie you'll watch next. Also another thing that I noticed no one has pointed out yet is the big guy that Bruce fights at Blackgate prison, Cyrus Gold, that's Solomon Grundy before he became Grundy

Love this movie! And yeah, each of those kids were different Robins: Dick, Jason, and Tim. I always liked that little addition they made to the original comic. Speaking of which, the original comic (also called Batman: Gotham by Gaslight), is really good too, and if I recall correctly, has a different ending.

from alot of evidence we have today, the most likely culprit for jack the ripper is actually a barber who was their prime suspect and had a history of violent and perverse thoughts towards women
