That's not the President of the United States. He's the Secretary General of the United Nations.

What a joy these reactions are. The genuine emotion, and insights. I loved when you mentioned the prejudice to Belters through their food. Even Bobby who we love is flawed like that. I hadn't thought of it after lord knows how many rewatches. Good work!

Mage Reacts

And here I was worried I was blabbing too much. Thank you so much :)

Obligatory note: the next two episodes MUST be watched together.

James Yetter

I've watched at least a dozen channels react to this series and you consistently have the best reactions I've seen. While I wish they were released with more regularity, your content is worth the wait. That being said, can you release the next two episodes together?

Cotyar had to kill Theo because if their stories didn't match, he'd be fucked. He realized Theo wouldn't hold up under the pressure of interrogation, so he did what he thought he had to do to survive.

"Don't bring Mei in"... Katoa's face shows up still ok-ish... "Oh, ok" & Mage face of relief.... *Insert "Oh my sweet summer child" meme* And good observation on Bobby actually doing exactly what she earlier said is something she's not good at, using her words.

Kotoa is indeed the son of that guy who talked to Prax on Ganymede, correct Meg. What are they doing with the Nauvoo? To quote drunk Drummer from episode 1 season 3, "A cathedral converted into a warship sounds like the heart of a great and everlasting nation." She said sarcastically to Fred at the bar. So they're catching it and making it a warship. And then she went and did it because she respects Fred so much despite thinking it's a dumb idea herself. I love Drummer, it's so cool you met Cara Gee. Meg you asked why Amos stopped and looked at Prax like that? Prax tossed a dead body out of the way like it was a sack of potatoes with no emotion, and even Amos was like, "Oh, that's a change." I think Amos was shook at how cold Prax is becoming. I also want to make clear that Holden didn't kill that dude, you seemed to jump back and forth on that. They say at the end that they sent the 3 off, so the third guy woke up. Thanks for this content Meg and Caleb, it's hard to put into words how happy these reactions make me

Meg, as usual, your thoughts and insights on the political and cultural stuff going on here -- as well as the relationships between characters and their development -- is spot on and really interesting. I especially loved your observation about Bobbie telling Avasarala that she doesn't solve problems with her words, only to do just that 10 minutes later in defusing the situation with the rebellious Martians. I love it for its delicious irony, and for the way it shows us that our Bobbie has grown up so fast. But I especially love that you noticed and commented on it, because I've been pointing that particular irony out in comments often when this episode comes up, but you are, to my knowledge, the first reactor to have mentioned it yourself! Well done, my friend. :) As to Bobbie's comment about Belter food, although I have no doubt that institutional racism plays a big part in the difficulty Inners have in embracing Belter culture (including food), I think with food in particular, the lack of familiarity is also a large part of it. Belter food is made largely with ingredients different from the food typically consumed by Inners, particularly Earthers. So the flavor profile of Belter food (like Kibble) is going to be pretty unfamiliar to the Inner palate. And, due to what psychologists call the Mere Exposure Effect(*), we all are biased toward enjoying things (music, food, design, language, even people) that we find familiar. I mean, it works right here on earth; I remember hating Sushi the first time I tried it decades ago, and now I crave it regularly (and yet, I'll bet if I went to Japan and tried Sushi there, I'd be less than impressed). A friend of mine grew up in Texas eating ribs and barbecue; then she spent 2 years in Korea and came back frustrated that she couldn't find decent kimchi in her home town. And that's just on this planet. Imagine trying food from someplace 750 Million miles away. You'd probably find it pretty yucky too, at least the first few times. But your larger point is still well taken. When the Martian "kids" turn up their noses at Naomi's Red Kibble, the disdain with which they say "belter food" isn't just because they're not used to eating so much fungus. It's also because *anything* Belter is inferior by their way of thinking, not even worthy of investigation. Ah, tribalism. We humans have some *issues*, don't we? (*) I'm not a psychologist, and I'm not really that smart. I just knew "liking familiar stuff" was a thing, and I have basic googling skills, so I found the name for it. I do like the term "Mere Exposure Effect," though. I think I'm going to work it into more conversations.

OH PHEW, thank you for confirming. He pulled a Batman with knocking him out! And that makes a ton of sense with Amos, especially is Prax is so gentle with his plants and deliberate with his movements!

The Modulator

Releasing them together would be a nice gift. But, you should *really* watch them together!

Mage Reacts

I get too excited to hold onto episodes, and want to share the excitement with y’all, so you better believe they’d be released together 🤣

Dragonfly Dan

Pierogies rock! My wife is 100% Polish. Almost every culture has some sort of stuffed dumpling, they just vary with fillings and cooking styles. Oh.... and great reaction, as always. I agree with the sugestions for watching the next two together.

Ah Meg, these reactions are such a treat. You've got such a fantastic insight on so many things that this show offers. The comments above have said everything better than I could already, but just thinking about how you're reacting to everything now just fills me with such excitement for the future seasons. I'm literally obsessed with this story. The characters, their growth, the world, the messages throughout, it's all just 10/10. Oh yeah and Holden and Naomi's relationship is just pure af and my favourite fictional couple. I'll say no more.

T. Arnold Ferguson

Great reaction, as usual. I'd just like to caution you not to fall down the protomolecule rabbit-hole as so many other reactors do. Sometimes a blue light is just a blue light. Yes, the protomolecule is a major factor in the show, but it's not everywhere. The story is just as much a political thriller as it is about confronting alien technology.

Pleaseeeee watch Loki's tv series soon, I know you two would love it. It's less of just a spin off, it's integral to the mcu plot and sets up many things for future movies. Ugh I just am desperate to watch you guys react to it, please do soon!!!

Here's a Red Kibble recipe based on a recipe mentioned in one of the Expanse books. People on Reddit had created this through using the books' description of the ingredients. I saved it and have used it since. Just as a note, the books actually describe Red Kibble two different ways in two different Expanse books. I prefer the version that I list below and it appears to be the version that the show uses in this episode. The Telltale Game actually uses the other version/ recipe mentioned in the other Expanse book. Instead of the red-mix we see in the show here that requires a spoon/ fork, the other version is deep-fried balls of bean paste that you can eat with your hand. Anyway, onto the recipe. Kibble Base 1) Wash 8 oz of White Mushrooms. 2) Grate the Mushrooms in a food processor or finely chop them. 3) Combine 1 tsp of White Vinegar, 1 tbsp of Oil, 2 tbsp of Water, and a pinch of Salt. Bring it all to a boil and stew under a closed lid for about 5 min. 4) Take 1 tbsp of Starch, dissolve in 4 tbsp of cold Water. Then pour that into the stew and cook while continuously stirring for another 1-2 minutes. Set aside to cool a bit. 5) Add 1 tsp of Smoked Paprika, 1 tsp of Cumin, and a pinch of Ancho Chile Pepper. 6) Mix well and then Fry (ideally in a non-stick pan) with a tbsp of Oil, medium to high heat, for 6-7 minutes, or until reduced and thickened. Peppers 7) Take 4oz of Red/Orange Peppers and some Green Onions (to taste). Chop both into medium-size pieces. Keep them separate for now. 8) Add Salt and Black Pepper to the Red/Orange Peppers, and then Fry for 3 min at medium-high heat with a tbsp of Oil. 9) Now add the Green Onions, reduce heat to medium, and then Fry for another 1 min. 10) Add 1/2 tsp of Smoked Paprika, 1/2 tsp of Cumin, and a pinch of Ancho Chile Pepper. Fry for another 1-2 min. 11) Finally add 1/2 cup of cold Water, and mix. Cook for another 4 min or until thickened. Mix the Peppers into the Red Kibble base and you're done! I've made this quite a few times and it's generally a pretty big hit, especially amongst my friends who like the Expanse. I've played with the recipe to include things like Meat or Soya Chunks, and it all works.

it might be fun for me to do a little cooking video with this!! thanks for the recipe :D
