Riddler's Reform (BTAS)

I forgot that John Glover was Riddler, a great choice too. He's been in lots of stuff, but not a stranger to DC. I can remember him playing Lionel Luthor, Lex's father, for the majority of Smallville. He was in Shazam! too, as well as the notorious Batman & Robin. Another good episode from BTAS.

It reminds me of the games more Riddler just can't fathom how Batman solves certain riddles or gets out of a certain situation him, Batman and everyone just can't stop what their doing if Bruce stopped being batman he wouldn't know what to do maybe but its interesting to think about

It’s a shame that this is essentially Riddler’s final major appearance in the DCAU, he’s my favorite Batman rogue. The DCAU writers admitted that they were literally too stupid to come up with actually good and intelligent stories for him, very disappointing. Also, between the three villain reform episodes: ‘Birds of a Feather’ (Penguin), ‘Second Chance’ (Two-Face), and ‘Riddler’s Reform’ (Riddler), which is your personal favorite?

Been a bit since we've seen the Riddler and I thought this was a pretty good episode. You're right about how this and STAS go hard with the voice acting sometimes where they really make you feel the emotions of the characters. It's one of the many reasons why these shows are still so iconic. I can't wait for the next BTAS episode though. It's another one of my personal favorites. So I'm excited for when you react to it. Also looking forward to your Superman vs The Elite reaction soon!

Probably my favorite Riddler episode! Unfortunately, it was also Riddler’s last major appearance in the DCAU. The writers said that it was hard to come up with good, smart Riddler plots, so they ended up not using him all that much. But at least he had some memorable episodes!

The lack of an apostrophe in the title card drives me crazy

Riddle Me This: Can a Riddler Reform? A great Riddler episode for him to go out on, and probably the most successful 'villain redemption' episode as he'd managed be socially accepted and to land a lucrative position as the mascot of a toy company. But of course Nygma can't be satisfied with that. He always needs to feel like he's the smartest person and thus needs to defeat his old enemy to have a sense of closure. Some have suggested it would have been better if Bruce had never revealed how he survived the bomb and let the audience figure the 'riddle' out from the safe in the background, but you have a point about him being bitter and perhaps a bit cruel.

I like Birds of a Feather most of all for its exploration of Penguin's character. Does Sideshow count as a villain reform episode? How about Harlequinade?

KrakenKing

He did have that one appearance in TNBA, but it was small and also he got one of the worst redesigns so it just doesn’t count in my book.

KrakenKing

Sideshow doesn’t count because it’s just Croc staying bad the whole time and taking advantage of people who think he’s innocent. I suppose you could count Harlequinade as a reform story, although shy was basically planning on returning to the Joker from the start, in her own warped way.

True enough. Can't wait until Meg gets to Harley's Holiday.

Writer for this show Dan Riba in an interview with the YouTube channel Watchtower Database talked about a scrapped Riddler episode that would’ve explained how he escaped his coma that he was left in at the end of “What is reality?” The idea was that Riddler-esque crimes were going to be going on, while Riddler was in a coma, and Batman would need Riddler’s help to catch the copycat. The reveal was going to be that Riddler had been hypnotizing the hospital staff into committing these Riddler crimes, and the climax of the episode would be Riddler hypnotizing Batman into committing a Riddler crime, and Batman was going to have to stop himself somehow. But as with most Riddler scripts for this show they couldn’t get all the pieces to fit together in a satisfying way so it never saw the light of day
