Man, Manchester Black is such an underrated and underrepresented Superman villain and I wish he would show up more in mainstream content. That’s all I really gotta say lol, can’t wait to watch. Also just hyped for the rest of STAS, it’s gonna get wild soon.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you Meg, Caleb, Yuna, Bumi, and the rest of the community. I actually haven’t been feeling too well since yesterday and today so this is like the best gift ever. Gonna watch this right now cause I’m beyond excited to see your reaction and hear your thoughts on this since this is one of my all time favorite Superman and DC movie ever!

Merry Christmas Meg! Finally you got to your next animated DC movie and it's "Superman vs The Elite"! This was when he once again proven he's got a big brain not just power and also that he's always been more human than anyone since coming to Earth.

Oh Yess thank you best Christmas gift! This movie just really shows alot Merry Christmas Meg, Caleb and Bumi and Yuna ^^ and Clark was scary asf at the end loved the questions this movie raised and it really does get you thinking everything Manchester said at the end to Clark on the moon I really liked, this and Dark Knight Returns really get me thinking, politically, about superheroes in general etc

Superman vs. the elite and the comic it's based on was written in response to the 90s trend of superheroes becoming darker and more morally ambiguous. in the 90s or dark age of comics it was thought that super heroes should be darker, more ruthless, and more willing to kill. this trend was popularized by works like frank miller's the dark knight returns & daredevil, everything by rob liefeld, spawn, watchmen, etc. truth justice and the American way was written as a counter argument to this trend. so glad you enjoyed it. vs the elite is very much one of superman's greatest stories along side other classics like all star superman, superman for all seasons, birthright, Superman smashes the clan

Just finished watching your reaction to this and loved it! So this movie and the comic that this movie is based on (What's So Funny About Truth, Justice, and the American Way) was a take on the trend of new heroes that popped up in the 1990s. Where the heroes were much darker and brutal with how they dealt with villains. Not afraid to be more ruthless or kill the villains without giving much thought to it. The cheesy cartoon in the beginning of the movie was basically a take on how some people view Superman as being outdated and a cliche. But this movie is one of the reasons why I love Superman. He's not outdated or as you said sacrifices his morals to stay relevant with the current times. He's a timeless superhero. He will always be relevant no matter what. It's why the ending of it when he tricks the Elite into thinking that he had snapped and started to basically do what they had been doing is one of my favorite parts of the movie. Because it shows Superman could very easily become more ruthless if he wanted to but that's not who he is. It's why even Manchester Black was crying saying "This isn't you. You don't do this." And he's right. Superman isn't that. Even though you'll find tons of people who wish he was more brutal and think he's "soft" for not going above and beyond and being more violent with criminals or just killing them. But it's not the morals and beliefs that his parents, Jonathan and Martha taught and raised him with. Same has been said about Batman as well. But that’s also not who he is either. But rewatching this again with you, it's still my favorite Superman movie and one of my favorite movies from DC. And the comic this is based on is one of Superman's best stories. There's another comic that deals with this similar idea of Superman dealing with new heroes called Kingdom Come. It's an Elseworlds story that takes place in an alternate future universe. I don't really want to spoil it for you but It's another fantastic story that I hope you check out eventually. Overall, this was another one of my favorite reactions from you. I can't wait for the reaction to the next BTAS and STAS episodes cause they are personal favorites of mine. Also interested to see what you think of Batman v Superman soon. Hope the comments will be nice to you with that movie. As for the next animated movie, I wouldn't mind Catwoman: Hunted as it's the next movie on the list and I actually haven't seen it yet. Or you could jump around the list like you've said and watch something else. But I'm fine with either one you choose. I just hope we can get into Justice League content soon since I'm beyond hyped for you to finally get into it

A little bit of background on Truth, Justice and the American Way: the phrase was first adopted as part of the Superman radio show during the famous story “The Klan of the Fiery Cross” in which Superman fought a group of white supremacists akin to the KKK, the use of the phrase was meant to hammer home to the listener that the things these men say and do are un-american

John G Robinson

That was a very good story arc in the radio show and the comic adaptation superman smashes the klan is also very very good

John G Robinson

Oh man kingdom is an amazing comic with beautiful alex Ross art work

supermans motto for a long time was "Truth justice and the american way." but a couple years ago was changed to "truth, justice and a better tomorrow." i personally dont like the change, because the "American way" it refers to isnt to modern america, its the idealized 1940s american way, the american way ma and pa kent taught clark, people take it too literally thinking it means "The way america does things." but its more the ideals that are meant to symbolize america. Changing the motto because the world doesnt like america rn defeats the purpose of the whole motto, because as you see in this movie even, clark is also against what the americans want, and they themselves are not upholding the american way,

Now this is how to do a good deconstruction. Because you reconstruct it afterwards and show why it works better than the terrifying alternative (before we got characters like Homelander and Omni-Man). While you can make the excuse that Batman is too busy just trying to hold his hometown together, the argument occasionally gets floated that with all his incredible power Superman should just fly on over and murder all the Kim Jong Il-style dictators out there, or at least all the supervillains who squash humans so casually. But that's not his duty. He's not a judge, a jury, or an executioner. He's there to save and inspire others to act heroically and compassionately, to help humanity become better. Good Death Note parallels. PS: It's Manchester BLACK

Yeah, DC recently changed the saying to truth, Justice, and a better tomorrow, and I think I like that version better. But yeah, live this movie and your reaction to it! Had the original comic when it came out in about 2002ish, and it was always one of my favorites for going into his philosophy.

Even Roman fell. Tomorrow is an immortal concept
