Guys read the whole description, they're skipping the Monday upload. A finger on the Monkey's Paw has curled closed.

Emori

LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Salvatore
>>138290561

Well 132 was coming in a week no matter what so i guess this is far better.

Brogan

Now that we're here let's do a small reminder on how the nen power multiplication works. If you set a condition, you can multiply your nen vs just adding to it. The tighter the constriction, the stronger the result. Kurapika's condition was he could only use his powers on very specific ppl (spiders) at the cost of his death if he used them vs others. Gon set a condition as well, the key line to me being 'i don't care if this is the end, so I'll use everything'.

Space Mechanic

Enjoy the concert guys. Safe travels

RPSiege
>>138290561

This is my thought too, but I’m sure when Monday comes you can expect the, “no Hunter upload today?” comments

Seni Adeyemi

In my opinion, Gon did not *need* the transformation to beat Pitou. He could have fought her on equal footing without transforming, and could have beaten her, say 5 out of 10 times. By transforming, he became leagues above her so that it wasn’t even a battle it was just an execution. But I think the reason he transformed wasn’t just because of his anger at Pitou but also his anger at himself. I believe he wanted to die because Kite’s death solidified in his mind that he is not worthy to meet Ging, so he no longer had a reason to live. So he used “everything” in that moment not only to punish Pitou but also himself.

Salvatore
>>138293551

my guy gon wouldn't even touch her before, let alone beat her in a battle.

Seni Adeyemi
>>138293551

Disagree. Pitou viewed him as a threat before the transformation. And Killua would not have let Gon fight Pitou alone if he didn’t believe Gon at least stood a chance against her. Gon was about to kill Pitou in 116.

Max__

For me, Gon's last "punch" looking like a nuclear explosion is a sublime hint that Gon could in fact defeat the King, like Netero did with the Rose.

Salvatore
>>138293551

i don't like power scaling but bro in 116 pitou was not even protected by her own nen it was all concentrated on healing komugi. pitou took a full on hit from netero with no scratches on her, this gon does not stand a chance.

Toidleboy
>>138293551

well your opinion regarding that he could beat her without the transformation would be extremely wrong and has no backing to it.... pitou would have wiped the floor with gon if he did nothing

Seni Adeyemi
>>138293551

Not saying he *would* have beaten her, but that he *could* have beaten her. If he had full rage boost mode.

Jack SV

The first time I saw this episode I legit stopped watching this arc and took a 3 week break lol at that point I did not care what happened to the rest of the characters lol without giving away too much because I feel this will be more clear later.. Gon basically made a Nen condition where he gave up his life spam and what’ve could have been years of training in order to obtain this power, like Lola mentioned is similar to Kurapika’s emperor time. Remember that Nen while it can give you immense power, most of time it comes with a big condition (s) or sacrifice from the user’s part. Also Netero was sort hinted at this when he said to the king that he shouldn’t underestimate the power of infinite potential of human evolution. I can’t wait for you guys to finish this arc and go the next one!

Harfie

NO WAY I CANT WAIT TO WATCH THIS THANK YOU! ♥️

StrawHat

the writing of this show omggg...so heartbreaking

Levi

I love you girls so much 😭🙏 thank you for this

Isaac

Someone must have unnecessarily spoiled them on how Emperor Time works from the current manga arc, so it got in the way of interpreting what's happening with Gon. That's really too bad.

Toidleboy

in short -> Gon gave up all of his nen (present and future) for that little burst of immense power. he no longer has any nen

bondbond53

"Fun" Fact: In the entire anime, the scene at the end when Killua leaps in to save Gon from Pitou is the only time where we can hear Killua's footsteps. He was so focused on getting to Gon he didn't bother to silence his footsteps for the very first time.

Multxverse

"However much lifespan Gon lost, I lost the same." lmao

karina

It's like you said it, it's the same as Kurapika when he fought with the spiders, in my mind Gon made a kind of pact when he says ''I don't care if this is the end, so I'll use everything''. so he is losing his life and his nen, that's why pitou says in this chapter that gon put aside his talent to obtain that power. It is very sad also that Killua arrived at the place to see that. also breaks my heart that Gon, what made him feel relieved was losing an arm as well as kite, as a way of redeeming himself. It's so horrible because I feel that although Gon was full of anger against Pitou, he also wanted to die and that's why he decided to give everything he had. the sweet boy who was gon now wanted to die, I CAN'T (I don't know if you noticed but when Killua runs towards Gon when Pitou's body attacks you can hear his footsteps very loudly, I love that they made that emphasis in the series, Killua was so determined to save Gon that he had nothing else in mind not even his assassin training that is so ingrained in him. THAT BROKE ME) and on the other hand the irony that pitou was being controlled by her puppet like she controlled kite, this episode really left me so shocked that even watching it now again leaves me with such a strange feeling. Thank you for uploading both episodes, have a nice week and have an incredible time at the concert <3 <3

StrawHat

when he lost an arm and said now hes the same as Kite :(

Toidleboy
>>138297710

while "fun" and you see this comment on every 131 reaction video, its actually not true as you can hear his footsteps very clearly many times previously, most being pre Yorknew

Shrump

Can't wait to see the reaction to 135. Arguably the best episode in the arc, although its got strong competition from 116 and 131.

bondbond53

I think what the actual translation of what Pitou says is that Gon 'could sink his fans into the King' rather than her saying Gon could match the King. I feel like this translation always confuses people and throws the power scaling in a mess

Isaac

Subtle, but Gon's repeated punches to Pitou's head are because Kite twice warned Gon that you HAVE to remove the head to kill an ant. "I finished the job like you taught me"

ForiegnKarma

I present to you Gon Freecss one of the Seven Deadly Sins of Anime : Sin of Wrath. Gave up his life to execute this mission so no ounce of hope of pitou recovering from this fight.

Isaac
>>138297314

I'm sure they didn't mean anything by it, but little things can change your perception unintentionally

bondbond53
>>138297710

Could you send me these clips? I feel like the complete silence with the faint music during that scene contrasted by Killua's footsteps' sound is clearly intentional. Even visually his footsteps are really emphasised

sim a
>>138293551

Ikalgo: "Even if we all work together, we won't be able to defeat Pitou." Narrator: "He was decapitated with one arm." Pitou: “I have grown to a level where I can beat myself.” Me: “I ignore what the author has written.”

Salvatore

This episode made Pitou my fav guard( until a certain episode iyk yk )

Seni Adeyemi
>>138293551

Ikalgo also said that Killua is going to go die with Gon, then it was shown That was never his intention. His perception was not reality.

Toidleboy
>>138297710

Ep03 17:25 Killua walks to Tonpa to get a new juice Ep05 12:23 Killua walking ahead and realizing Gon is not with him anymore Ep05 18:30 Killua complaining about Gon not being there Ep11 16:29 Killua walking ahead to confront johness Ep25 11:35 Killua entering the hall to see Gon and friends playing with Gotoh and co. Ep25 20:09 Killua drawing a line on the ground to show Gon how weak he is Ep27 12:42 Killua passes by Zushi, whom he has just knocked out Ep27 15:10 Killua steps out of the elevator (also walks ahead a few seconds later) Ep27 15:40 Killua's steps are shown and then he stops Ep27 18:15 Killua walks to Gon in the room Ep29: Literally every time Killua walks in this ep, which is too many times to list Ep48 06:31 Killua walking with the stuff has bought There's a couple instances in Greed Island as well, most notibly in Killua's yo yo fight

R L

Thank you soooo much LM for 131. Not only is this my favorite episode of HxH, but it is one of the best episodes of ANY anime of ALL time. There is really nothing quite like it to be found anywhere else. I truly LOVE it.

Salvatore

This episode is simply just too much, what do you expect me to do when three insanely good written characters show a peak situation where every single on of them is showing you exactly why they are insanely good written. ( i can not put this into words)

Sonder

Pouf’s love feels more chaotic and tainted because of his own selfish desires and deluded perception of the king. Pitou’s love felt more genuine and human because it was selfless and open to the king’s authentic self which makes the scene sadder.

sim a
>>138295169

There was a moment when I thought episodes 132, 133, and 134 were boring. Episode 135 was great.

bondbond53
>>138297710

I stand corrected. But I still think it as a hyperbolic statement that can still have truth in it considering the presentation of that scene. It can still be a callback to Killua's conversation with Melody just like we've have a reference in this episode to Nen after death. But yeah overall you are completely correct

Darrach

Gon X Gone

Darrach

Well here we are. One of the greatest anime episodes of all time. What’s really nuts is how many times you can say that, not only one show but for one ARC of a show! Killua screaming Gons name, and Gon looking back at him in that moment before the last strike…takes a lot to actually make me tear up but that gets me.

R L
>>138293551

Gon would have been insta-killed if he fought Pitou without transforming. Pitou is by far the strongest of the Royal Guard. If you recall, the king himself tried to execute her and failed because of her strength; and also Netero was afraid to fight her and claimed she appeared stronger than him.

R L
>>138294362

I think transformed Gon had a chance to defeat the king in his old form. But in the king's new form, I don't think even Gon has a chance. Can you even begin to imagine if the king started using conditions?? Have mercy on us all.

Wallas

OMMGGGGGGGGGGGGG

Wallas

Best piece of media ever created, only Vinland Saga comes close

Harfie

I'll be honest, the resolution/ consequence of these episodes are 10 times better than these episodes themselves. Can't wait for the next arc.

Blessèd

DOUBLE UPLOAD LET'S GOOO

Isaiah Cox

The consequences won’t be explained in the anime clearly but from what people have told me gon permanently can’t use nen anymore after this fight. I’m not sure if he lost any of his actual life span though.

Daniel Jung

Waited so long for you two to see this!

jweher
>>138293551

pitou is stronger than netero bro. her worrying about gon is not her thinking he could kill her. just that one day, in the future, he could grow to be as strong/stronger than the king, which makes him a threat. she felt that she needed to take him out now, while she still can, so that he can never be a threat to the king. him transforming was not something she anticipated, but it still proved to her that if he had matured naturally, he'd be a serious threat to the king.

Seni Adeyemi
>>138293551

Sorry but Gon was so locked in he could have fought Pitou on equal footing. It would have probably ended in mutual death though.

Nathan Elkin

Classic alpha male, gets his feelings hurt and then gets real buff.

Wallas

A detail that I only noticed after watching this incredible episode 10 times: Killua makes sound for the first time when he jumps to save Gon in despair...

SoClose

If you told me Gon fisted an already dead transgender cat back to death with his own severed arm back in episode 1, I’d have called the cops.

SoClose
>>138297710

But that’s really just the anime’s inconsistency. Not canon. Killua was trained at an early age to conceal his presence. That’s well established.

Yū Nishinoya

This is the most shocking episode, not the main one, you react differently to it when you watch it a 2nd time. When people suggest you anime like Jujutsu Kaisen or other battle shonen, they should consider this main battle lasted half episode, 1 kick and some punches, it's very different from those anime

Ryan Peters

Thank you for the double drop, that was an awesome surprise 🙏❤️

Shivering King Banana
>>138304083

I think that is explained in the anime, it might be just a line or two though. That said from where the anime ends Gon only appears in the manga for 1 or 2 pages.

Aglio Olio
>>138304083

SPOILER: No, Gon still has Nen, Ging tells him that Gon still has Nen when Gon tells him that he lost his nen, nen is life force and you can't not have Nen (because he can feel the life force of the world tree). He just has to awaken it by meditating or the normal way of opening nen pores if he chooses too (Zushi took 3 months, but Gon might just do it in a week or two imo).

Junkboy

Thank you for the double drop and have fun at the concert!

asher wolfe

crazy how we haven't even gotten to the best episode of the arc (in my opinion, of course)

mvri

I relate so much to the "I cannot understand the general audience" part of the discussion that Lola made when it comes to how some people reacted with excitement and joy to this episode. I have felt the same disappointment when another reaction channel watched this episode, and they were whooping, hollering and making a complete buffoonery of what was on their screen. There is not a single thing to feel good about. I mean you're witnessing a 14 year old being in so much pain and grief that he decides to sacrifice his own life and all the progress he made in YEARS just to kill the person who murdered the closest thing to a father figure he's ever had, and the first thing you do is laugh and act all hyped?? I swear sometimes it feels like they watched a different show.

mvri
>>138297710

They really said "YOU WANT RECEIPTS? IGHT BET" I'm crying

space colon

Lola is totally spot on, Gon being a child is a core part of the story, so many Shonen Manga feature all loving strong-willed kids fighting heroically to defeat evil enemies But Togashi asks us a couple of question: What would a child with such a level of conviction ACTUALLY be like? Would they maybe have a bit of a screw loose? How might they behave when things don’t go their way? When they don’t succeed and have their storybook triumphs? Togashi plays with this trope, putting this classic archetype in the brutally sobering world of Hunter x Hunter. In this world Gon’s determination is tested to the breaking point repeatedly, each time pushing him farther and farther from his naïvely optimistic worldview “Adult Gon” is an ironic twist of the classic Shonen Transformation. Instead of achieving this through some kind of self-actualization or power of friendship Gon gains this form in the most self-sacrificial way possible after being confronted with tragedy Kite was to Gon what Shanks was to Luffy, a person who he built his ideals around at an early age. Someone who opened his eyes to a wider world where he could seek out his dreams

RM

This is purely speculation, but I believe that Gon has the blood of the Dark Continent. (Just mentioning the name of the continent, so no spoilers for the rest of the content.) Thinking about Gon’s transformation, I believe that the true nature of his power, which cannot be fully explained by his condition that sacrifices his life, is related to the blood of the Dark Continent. In Hunter x Hunter, there are characters with extraordinary power, and I think their strength is related to having the blood of the Dark Continent. This is also speculation, but I believe that a characteristic of humans with the blood of the Dark Continent is having pitch-black eyes. (Gon's eyes also turn pitch-black when he loses himself in anger.)

Jack SV
>>138313656

Nah this is definitely spoilers since you are mentioning something that’s barely mentioned in the anime. That’s manga territory .. delete this comment.

Yū Nishinoya
>>138310942

hopefully people won't start talking about it before it happens, their reactions become unnatural when they know they are close to a special moment of the show

KATE

I can't wait when they get to the episode, I'm not gonna say which episode but they are almost there and I think everyone who have seen this show already know exactly which epsisode I'm talking about. Lora and Milena, they are not gonna survive!!😂

Tyrell Rose

Omgggg thank youuuu 😭

Kya Colosseum

Something that doesn't get enough praise in this episode is just how spectacular the sound design is. The transformation music for Gon is harrowing, the disharmonious chords that play during his Jajanken are ear spitting, and every hit sounds like it's breaking both Pitou's body and Gon's. All of this is made ten times better/worse by the silence we get inbetween. It's in my top 3 episodes of anime for a reason. As always thank you both so much for letting me experience this episode like it was the first time waching it again. Hope Taylor makes you happy cry as much as these episodes made you sad cry <3

Kevin Inoj Perez

Explaining the Nen part. Throughout the show. It has been said again and again that Gon and Killua are exceptional when it comes to potential. The two of them are 1 in 10 million, while Zushi is 1 in 100K, Wing said. Every adult who encountered both of them has said as much. Gon has traded all that potential for this power to be given to him. If you think about it, this restriction is greater than what Kurapika has done to boost his nen when fighting the Phantom Troupe. Gon's potential weighs more than Kurapika's restriction on only using some abilities on the troupe. It's like saying you gain all the money you will get in your entire lifetime but you can only spend it within an hour and it all goes away and you cannot gain any money anymore forever. I believe that that version of Gon can go toe to toe with the King before the blast but not after the blast. Adult Gon and Netero, I think would've defeated Meruem. Gon's Jajanken while being blasted with Netero's Zero hand would've done it. Just like in the episode where Meruem was asking for his name from the guards. Pouf's love is for the destiny and prestige of his title as the king and ruler of all species. Youpi's love isn't too complicated, he just doesn't know why he just loves the king and Pitou's love is more for the service of his feelings. The king's feelings is the important part to Pitou which is my favorite among the three's love for Meruem.

Rare

Gon’s wind up sounds like Penderecki https://youtu.be/Dp3BlFZWJNA?si=XLg6tAKXCA8Xn-2R Welp, that’s that for Gon. His part has been played and it was a fantastic build up. Suicidal power against an enemy that can animate dead bodies probably wasn’t the best move, but things were how they were and it sucked for everyone involved. He was like a rose seed this arc, just waiting to bloom and mature into a self destructive fate.

MaxVSTheGames
>>138293551

Seni, you're crazy dude. Gon stood no chance at all against Pitou before the transformation. No chances at all.

Karabo
>>138294362

Lol oh my God, Meruem applying conditions and shit? That's universe breaking levels of Nen.

DrakDoodles
>>138311523

Same, I can't stand a lot of these shonen bros who only process media through how much hype it gives them. I'm being a little mean here but man it's just annoying for all the reasons you stated. I do not relate!!!

Salvatore

If one of you assholes doesn't make that 199 into a 200 I'm gonna lose it.

Stevenmcd4

early post???????? yall have fun!

DrakDoodles
>>138293551

They make it very clear that he gave up everything just to get the amount of power required to beat Pitou. Pitou said "He's forced his body to mature to a point at which he's able to defeat me." When Pitou is worried about him in the earlier scene where she decides she has to kill him, I don't think it's as simple as "right now in this moment he's strong enough to kill the king" it's more of a "I understand his mind now, and taking into account what you can accomplish with nen, he could become as strong as the king, so I have to kill him NOW."

A

This isn't even the best episode of the arc. Two more candidates for best episode have yet to come.

Jackamo Bailey
>>138324089

sound design is phenomenal for sure - when the music isn't the same 7 tracks, it excels every single time.

AnGecko
>>138307242

I completely agree with your comment, but at the same time I think jjk does try to focus on the themes and narrative of its story moreso than most battle shonen like the big three n stuff. Hunter x Hunter is really the big standout of the genre, it's technically a shonen but at no point throughout the series does it feel like fighting is what it's about. With how inspired by hxh jjk is it felt to me like that kind of bled through a bit, but maybe that's just my interpretation

Mra Keung

The vision of Gon basically repeatedly pummeling a corpse. Pure tragedy. Something was lost here that wil always break my heart.

sunshine

the translation is so off man.. when pitou said gon's got as much power as the king, she was literally saying his fangs might sink into the king, and the whole show's got expressions like that, it's things like this that are so beautiful in togashi's work, shame the translators aren't appreciative. for this and a million other reasons, I recommend you check out the manga after finishing the anime, get the original, straight from the author experience.

Nazerke K

Love your discussion, as usual, you understood what God has done and the consequences 🥲💔

sunshine
>>139000903

yeah I'll prolly do that sometime in the future, especially for hxh, monogatari, and berserk, those really have a way with words and a lot of it get lost in translation.

Caleb Scott
>>138313656

I would hate that. I love hxh because gon doesn’t fit the trope of mc getting buffed with unearned power when emotional. His power boost did not come from his emotions or determination. It came from a deal he made with himself which can never be made again.

Randy Marsh

first time i see chanel on patreon without full reactions
