T.J.

Jeez the endings coming up so fast😭

Isaac

Classic thumbnail. I would have picked this too :)

Junkboy

Awwww the ending killed me with it's sweetness! I don't want this to end any chance you guys willing to restart HxH and start watching 1999/OVAS until you get to 2011? XD I joke , Monster or Haikyu!! would be exceptional choices and I'm looking forward to the poll!

Isaac
>>140961662

I'm a 1999 nut/megafan, but even I don't want this lol. I think they should move on to other shows. It's been a year and a half :P

Starfish

Aw wholesome thumbnail 🥹

natan

I love this final arc. It feels like Togashi heard people say "I don't think I could possibly love Killua more" and took it as a challenge

Termind Terguta

When you wondered "someone voted for Gon" actually there is an explanation. Something that was in the manga but for some reason it miss here. People knows about the "heroic" action of Netero and Gon during the battle against the ants, they don't know the details but they surely know about the fact they "died" as heroes.

Junkboy
>>140961662

I wish they would've started in 1999 and then moved on to 2011 in Chimera arc but it's too late. It's just in jest and I too want them to move on to something else! Maybe even 1997 Berserk >.>;;;;; (selfish reasoning) But I'm happy enough to patiently wait for a poll.

Relvin Colón

Although the version you are watching translates the name of the "thing" living inside Alluka as "something" many versions translate it as if the word was a name. "Nanika". Which I think actually humanizes that part of Alluka to the viewer.

Nima Santonja

No spoiler but the subtext around Alluka’s gender is that she can be interpreted as trans or at least identify as she/her and only Killua respects that. The rest of her family treats her as a “he” or an “it”. It’s a subtle way of storytelling that can be interesting for the whole plot and the whole characterization of Alluka, but it’s already revealing about how Alluka is perceived and “loved” by her family, and the difference between Killua, and the rest of the Zoldycks. A very interesting and original take of the author about gender and, more generally, being treated as “other-worldly”.

Daniel Constantine

like if you think the girls might like "classroom of the elite" as a show, not long and a great interesting show

Daniel Constantine

this was actually my favourite arc surprisingly (was bawling at the end), i just find the zoldyks soo interesting, wish there was more

Meximus

have they already watched haikyuu?? The Karasuno shirt!

bondbond53

If the rest of the Zoldyck family calls her a boy and he and Killua refers to Alluka as she then you can easily interpret that as what is the idea with Alluka's identity

Jack SV

Yeah the rules are bit confusing at first so I don’t blame you if get confused about how Alluka’s powers work. Now the family is sort hinting “that something…(Nanika)” came from somewhere else.. but I don’t remember if Nanika powers are confirmed as nen or not since it’s been a while since I watched this arc. Man I’m sad this is almost over… hoping the anime comebacks after we get more manga chapters.. hopefully this year if Togashi is feeling healthy.

Jack SV
>>140963380

Nah, but most likely they will after HxH since it might win the poll against Monster which is sad because Monster is the superior show in my opinion.

jweher
>>140963380

no i think they explained that milena bought it in advance because she's convinced it'll win the poll lol

SoClose

It’s simple really. Alluka is biologically male, but “Nanika” is a feminine spirit. (Alluka herself refers to Nanika as a “her.”)Their souls are intertwined, that’s why Alluka acts feminine. If you wanna write a fictional trans character, this is how you do it right.

Vict

I could tell you as someone who watches One Piece, when we see someone we haven't seen in actual real life years, it's either the hypest thing ever or we are asking "Why would Oda (the author) even remember this character?" Oda must reread parts of his story to bring things back and connect things. There is just so much

Hockney
>>140965139

there was literally a cameo of 3 people in the latest chapter and it was in fact the hypest thing ever to me lol

Harfie

I'm pretty sure Illumi doesn't believe Killua loves him most (he's smart/ self aware enough), but was referring to the fact that he spent the most amount of time with Illumi.

Wallas

Killua has the best development in the show, my top 3 favorite characters all time, I love him more than anything

HeavenlyR
>>140966848

If that's the case I don't think Hisoka would have said Illumi is worse than him. To me the joke seemed to be "how could you possibly think he'd love you the most"

Eric
>>140965139

When Oda isn't busy hanging out with his pedophile and rapist friends he takes the time to reread his old work.

Yū Nishinoya
>>140966848

how can you be sure? He is his older brother, his bond with Killua is deeper than the one Killua has with Gon. As Lola said Illumi loves Killua and Killua knows it. This is a spoiler----> there's a scene later where Killua cries when Illumi asks him to kill him and Illumi is happy with the idea of being killed by Killua

KIMI
>>140963380

Ima get some flack from this but as a manga reader Haikyu is ridiculously underrated narratively

stfucedric

Just FYI guys, this is off topic from HxH but I know you said a couple episodes ago you'd never watch any of the Big 3 (One Piece, Naruto & Bleach) but I wanna mention that although the original Bleach show has 366 episodes, a giant chunk of that is filler that doesn't need to be watched (you'd be left with a little under 200eps without the recent arc). Not saying it should go in the next poll cause you guys are just about finished with a long show already, but I wouldn't rule it out in future ones down the line given, minus the filler, it'll be roughly the length of HxH which you've made it through and loved

alon

god i’m actually so scared abt monster not having a chance of winning ever seeing how much people hype other more recent animes😭

Shivering King Banana

Yeah I agree Lola the butterfly effect was really interesting...

Kodky
>>140970238

id love if they watch any of them but i feel like there are many haters of every one of those animes in here, specially one piece for its pace, but I would love to see them react to any of them since i love the three of them, but i guess well never see

Kodky
>>140970238

I think they would enjoy one piece but it would have to be via one pace or some like that to make it shorter

stfucedric
>>140970238

Honestly I just threw the titles of the Big 3 out there for clarification reasons, I don't expect them to ever touch One Piece or Naruto, I'd never hope for either of those they're just too damn long. But given what I said about Bleach I think they could definitely do it if they commit to it like they did Hunter, at least with this filler guide https://www.animefillerguide.com/2019/06/bleach-filler-list.html

David Salazar

Monster, Steins Gate dubbed or Frieren would be amazing

Harfie
>>140966848

@heavenlyR Oh I see, that makes sense. I initially interpreted that line as “you only think about yourself, not gon”

Otto

Monster

ForiegnKarma

am I the only one that’s wants them to watch JJK ?😅

Shivering King Banana

Killua could have saved a lot of time and trouble if he said "teleport us to Gon."

Karabo

I'm so excited for Lola in particular. IYKYK.

Kya Colosseum
>>140976974

I think the issue most of us have with JJK is it's pretty surface level shounen. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy it a lot cause the fights are flashy and the characters enjoyable to watch. But it doesn't have nearly the level of character writing as HxH, Haikyuu or Monster, and good character writing is what we know L&M enjoy the most about these shows.

ForiegnKarma
>>140976974

I haven’t watched Haikyuu nor Monster but heard really good things about them. Unfortunately tho I disagree about the writing about JJK while I don’t believe it’s as good as HxH , it’s not far off when it comes to story building & character development. I hate how JJK is known for its flashy fights because it actual has a good story plot with good characters but hey that’s just my opinion.

Max__

Can we stop for a moment and reflect on how the author is so creative with the concepts of each arc? Like, a video game with cards, ants that absorb human genes, a being that can grant wishes through equivalent exchanges... I could continue with the next arcs, but it would be a spoiler. Togashi is one of the most creative mangakas out there.

Robert H.
>>140970874

Monster gets my vote. Always be for the underdog. With any luck, if the two add Jujutsu Kaisen to the poll, the votes for Haikyuu might split :D

Robert H.

The thumbnail should have been Milena showing off her green fingernails. :D

Max__
>>140970874

I only read a few chapters of Monster manga and it's sick af, I'd love to watch the anime through the girls reaction

Theo Santader
>>140976974

No you're not. I recommend it too. It's not a surface level shonen. I hope the girls include it in the poll.

ODIS
>>140962844

Although, technically it only sounds like a name to us westerners. Nanika means "something" in Japanese. So, I think the humanization is more a subjective thing, rather than the show wanting to do it.

Shivering King Banana

Alluka's power not being specified as Nen is a good choice imo. It reminds me of Thus Spoke Kinhibe Rohan. That might be a good recommendation for a short anime, it's only 4 episodes.

Relvin Colón
>>140962844

I think you are right, but given that they are westerners I think it can still be serviceable for humanizing "Nanika". That and the fact that Alluka and "Nanika" sounding similar can make a interesting phonetic connection between the names of the two beings residing inside Alluka's body, I think.

MaxVSTheGames

You guys can stop suggesting stuff now, it's going to be Haikyuu, as it should. They deserve something fun and not violent.

Salvatore
>>140963380

That's a fact KIMI, haikyuu is the best written media imo along side hxh.

keyboard888

Would you guys consider taking a mini break before starting your next show to watch a movie or two? I remember during your last Q&A you mentioned wanting to watch spirited away and I think you guys would love it

refo44

JJK is not the type of show the girls will enjoy. After watching the two seasons of JJK, it feels like a standard shonen with a predictable plot and a lack of storytelling and good dialogue writing. I admit it has some interesting characters, but they have almost no meaningful development, and the rest of the secondary characters and random minor villains are usually flat and stereotypical. Entire episodes are dedicated to unnecessary fight scenes that, besides the flashy animation, add nothing to the plot or character arcs. After all the hype, The Shibuya Arc, in particular, was really disappointing. From Season 2, the Hidden Inventory arc was significantly better in comparission. So I don't understand why people says is the better arc for JJK.

Melkor

May I go ahead and suggest legends of the galactic heroes? Will never get into a poll but hey I’ll keep trying. Will post a longer comment non spoilery about its themes etc when you are closer to done with this one.

Darrach

My excitement for next episode is palpable.

RI RI
>>141052367

Totally Agree. 100% accurate. "meaningless battle" is perfect description for JJK

ForiegnKarma
>>141052367

So you’re telling me an anime with meaningless fights that one of the most popular right now and has the most popular anime character currently because of flat writing ? I don’t think you can just move a large minority of people like that just by flat writing. Like One Punch Man is flat writing but literally every character is development for the story. These takes are wild to me when they already reacted to stuff like Mob Pyscho.

Jack SV
>>141055719

Dawg that show is too peak.. nah fuck that Legend of the galactic heroes is the best anime ever.. too bad is not popular enough :((

mvri

What an interesting take on Illumi you guys brought to the table! I very rarely see any reactor actually paying attention to detail as much as you two, and it's so *chefs kiss*. Killua and Illumi certainly do have a very complex and toxic relationship, but the key point here is how self unaware Illumi is, and why he is the way he is. We have been spectators of Killua's issues and traumas for so long that we've kind of forgotten that all the Zoldyck children must have gone more or less through the same stuff as he did. The fact that he genuinely believes to be the one Killua loves most after spending years manipulating and torturing him, indicates just how messed up his conception of love is. A conception that most probably was taught to him by Silva and Kikyo while growing up. Also, it was genius of Togashi to make Hisoka (another painfully self unaware and messed up character) point out how ridiculous Illumi sounds.

Melkor
>>141055719

I know right. I started it last autumn and finished it 1 month ago. Cried at the end it easily around halfway in the series became the best show I’ve ever watched. And mind you I’ve watched a lot of shows. So much politics, history and philosophy in it on a level ordinary people can understand. I mean there’s a reason it’s in the top 10 best anime’s of all times on most review sites.

mvri
>>141133864

You’re absolutely right! Thinking back on it, I think a better term would have been “problematic”. I just think that out of all the people that could call Illumi out on his bs, it’s funny that Togashi chose Hisoka.

Vicente de Paulo Guimaraes Priante

I think now they read the comments and saw that aluka is an allegory for transsexuals and that killua is the only one who accepts and calls her she

Melkor
>>141055719

Any way you think we could bring them here? 😝 I mean support for the show so that Lola and Milena start hearing about it at all would become frequent if the fan base was here. Alas tis only us here.

Camzeee

Lola left a comment on TV Time for the next episode. Amazing. Can't wait for it.
