Happy Frikyuu Friday !

ashton

Frikyuu friday, what a fantastic name!!!

Unholy

Frikyuu Friday’s are the best days

My Toasty Toast

I wrote this already but need to say it once more. You would love Bocchi the Rock as the next show after Frieren #1 Brings joy #2 All female characters #3 The same director who did Frieren #4 Good sister characters #5 Music #6 Everyone’s just trying to be a good friend to each other #7 Very funny #8 Ubel’s VA one of the main characters #9 Only 12 episodes so it’s perfect for short-form anime #10 Bocchi won’t top Frieren (what show ever could?), but it’s also a show that doesn’t need to surpass Frieren, so it’s a good show to follow after we finish the best show in the world.

TeaDrinker3000

Hey Frieren Fans! Thanks to everyone who responded to the survey. There were a total of 113 responses before I closed the survey, which is an increase of 40 responses compared to last year! I've made extra categories based on the results that were not on the survey, such as Overall Channel Favourite Shows, Cult Following Shows etc. as I needed the survey results to make those categories. The Overall Channel Favourite Shows have been decided upon by considering which shows were watched the most, which reactions were watched the most, and which shows were rated highest by you guys. Notes on how I calculated this and anything else are at the bottom of this post. The full report can be seen here https://freeonlinesurveys.com/r/kercQLKX . If you want to download the raw data to see more correlative trends, it's on the Discord. I'll get into the show related results first before moving onto the channel and viewer related results. Two shows next to each other with a '~' symbol inbetween indicate an absolute tie based on percentage. Remember that you can read the full report to see the results for any show you rated. ----- Overall Channel Favourite: #1. Attack On Titan (#2 Most Watched Show, #1 Most Watched Reaction, #3 Highest Rated Show) ~ Breaking Bad (#1 Most Watched Show, #3 Most Watched Reaction, #2 Highest Rated Show) #2. Vinland Saga (#5 Most Watched Show, #3 Most Watched Reaction, #3 Highest Rated Show) #3. Frieren: Beyond Journey's End (#5 Most Watched Reaction, #1 Highest Rated Show) Most Watched Shows: #1. As such, the data shows that if you are a Patron of LM Reactions, you are: - 62% likely to have been watching since 2021 or earlier. - 73% likely to watch the girls' full reactions - 65% likely to be currently watching 2-3 of their shows' reactions - 33% likely to prefer the girls watch a completed series, and 65% likely to enjoy both completed series and on-going series equally - 58% likely to engage with others in the comments - 85% likely to identify as male - Most likely to be 28 years old or thereabouts (our youngest Patron is 19, our oldest is 61!) - 42% likely to be from North America, and 32% likely to be from Europe - 84% likely to identify as straight - 61% likely to enjoy Live Action/Western Animations and Anime equally - 69% likely to regularly play video games - 52% likely to be speaking English as your second language - 51% likely to speak two languages fluently, and 15% likely to speak three or more fluently - 48% likely to prefer Cats, and 30% likely to adore both Cats and Dogs equally - 78% likely to believe that a better tomorrow is, unfortunately, worth fighting for and, the one you've all been waiting for - 55% likely to believe that Milena would beat Lola in a fight, assuming that there are no weapons and height/weight do not factor in. Regarding the quality of the channel itself: - The technical quality of the videos (ie. sound quality, colour balance) has a weighted average of 8.09 from a total of 90 Responses. 62 of those responses gave it an 8 or a 9. Finally, we had a comments box open for people to make suggestions for the girls on what could be done to improve the channel. Out of 34 responses, the most frequent comments were: - Suggesting that the channel is fine the way it is, or that the possible improvements are negligible against the already high quality of the channel [12 responses] - Suggesting that the girls hire an editor and/or a channel moderator for communication/organisation [6 responses] - Suggest that the girls continue to react to movies [4 responses] [Regarding the list calculation, for Overall Channel Favourite Show I allocated points based on the rankings for which shows were watched the most, which reactions were watched the most, and which shows were rated highest by you guys. In other words, if a show was the #1 in a category it was awarded 5 points, if it was #2 it was awarded 4 points etc. As such, Attack On Titan and Breaking Bad were tied with each show holding 12 points. Cult Following Shows were determined by shows that had a Watched Percentage of <50%, and a Show Rating of 8.00+. I then divided the Show Rating by its respective Watched Percentage as a means of getting a balanced average] --- Well, that's pretty much it for this year. I want to thank you all for participating in this survey, and of course the girls for this channel and all that they've done for me this year. I've unfortunately had to put my own channel on hold for the foreseeable future as I have not been doing well and need to put my health first, but nonetheless I want to once again thank the girls for being so kind as to support me with setting up my channel and allowing me to promote it here. Some of you might remember that I announced back in April how I met my partner through the channel's Discord; We got engaged last November, and could not have met were it not for this channel, so once more girls, thank you thank you thank you. Between helping me meet the love of my life, helping me start my own reaction channel, and most importantly reacting to The Sopranos, you really made this my year :)

My Toasty Toast

Frikyuu Friday will be renamed to Fuck You Friday when Frieren ends

Lychee

You really don't need to watch ep. 27 and 28 together. I think the people saying that are just impatient.

Robert H.

I'm a bit sad that the anime movies didn't make it into the poll, many wanted that, me too :D

Floweyyyy

What if the next show they watch is JoJo Bizarre Adventure? *runs* Ok guys, I know its a long show (I think that currently counting all the seasons JoJo has something around 150 episodes), but you all know that watching JoJo at some point is a canon event on every reaction channel. Sooner or later it has to happen here too, and its a really fun show, I think they both will really enjoy it.

Jay

To explain the visualization part and Ubel a little bit better. In this world magic is not just about who uses the most destructive spells or has the most mana, you need to visualize the magic you wield to do what you want to do. If your magic specializes in ice and freezing you can easily imagine freezing a lake to cross it, but what if that lake is made of lava ? Can you imagine freezing it over and cooling it down ? Sure you can try, but in your mind you will have doubts and those doubts will stop the task. I mean it’s only logical that lava cannot just be frozen over. Ubel is special in that regard ( she doesn’t think like normal humans ) she can completely blank her mind of all doubts and instead of using logic she uses pure feelings to cast a spell and accomplish her task. A cloak made of cloth ( like the Proctor that she killed had ) even if her minds screams that it’s full of defensive spells her gut feeling just blends it over and says cloth can be cut the same as hair. If that proctor would have worn steel amor imbued with defensive spells instead she most likely wouldn’t have been able to kill that proctor. If she feels like she can cut something she will and if she feels like she can’t cut something she won’t. Her magic is all about feeling not logic.

Unholy

Will just throw out Apothecary Diaries and Lycoris Recoil as shows I’d like to see here in the future. Keep the best girls going

KotBegemot

Really glad you felt so connected to this anime, I was really impressed by it as well but not to the extent as you were. Had a blast watching your reactions and how empathetic you are towards those characters. You said that this show healed something inside you, I had similar experience with 'March Comes in Like a Lion'. I feel like with how empathetic and invested in characters you usually are it's definitely a show for you. It's gonna make you cry both of sadness and happiness. It's not that hype and popular unfortunately and I can't see it winning the polls in the near future but I would be happy if it'd at least appeared in the polls and got acknowledged as an option at some point.

Wallas

I'm completely fine if you guys want some time after frieren, for all I care you can use this slot to watch anime movies (Your Name, Chihiro, Mononoke etc)... that is after you rewatch the first 4 episodes and post on the same day of course 😌

Robert H.

I don't know if you noticed, but when Methode tested her Binding Spell on Frieren, she hugged her tightly. With Fern, she just put her hand on her shoulder :D

Robert H.

At the end, Edel (Hypnosis Magic Girl) talks to Richter, who hasn't met her before. That's why he's confused. The scene doesn't really have much significance :D

JetLife2TheNextLife

They should watch Berserk (1997)... can you imagine the reaction of you know what ?!

HenryM

I think Richter was talking to the girl who fought Sense's replica first (I forget her name) and was just making a dig at her because he doesn't recognize her. Just a funny bit. Also, a battle of attrition is essentially one where both sides fight for a prolonged period until one exhausts all its resources and loses

Jack SV

Fuck I know is not gonna win due to people mostly voting for wholesome stuff but my hope is that at some point either Pluto or Neon Genesis Evangelion wins lol

HenryM

I'm voting for a re-watch of the first four episodes

Robert H.

If it encourages you (Small Spoiler for following Seasons): Some characters will reappear in Season 2/3 (maybe 4 too but the Manga is still in process), but accidental meet-ups unfortunately don't happen regularly :D

Wallas
>>158900742

This is a tough one...are we recommending the original anime + the end of evangelion or the movies that are more faithful to the manga and have the true ending?

Robert H.
>>158900742

So when I created the Short Anime Poll, I included everything of Evangelion, but I honestly stopped after the anime concluded. I know the movies did a lot differently though.

ashton

yesterday I rewatched your reactions to the first four episodes of Frieren and I really wish I had the power to go back in time and tell those Lola and Milena that this would become one of their favorite shows before they even finished the season, Honestly if you guys decide to watch the first 4 eps again I don't know how you're going to survive but I will support 100%

RG MG

I recommend Bocchi the rock! You’ll love it 🥰

Rrr
>>158900150

Hi Robert ! Could you please tell me what shows will be included if they make a poll just selecting finished shows using your survey? I haven't confirmed the result.

Vitor
>>158899539

100% agree with this. March comes in like a lion is literally my favorite anime ever

Rrr
>>158900150

ok so my concern is if they gonna count Pycho pass s1 as finished.

My Toasty Toast

My dumb ape brain sees Ubel: “I wanna fix her-“ *she immediately kills me*

Vitor

Demon Slayer catching strays in the end lol. It is not even made by the same studios. But hard agree on JuJutsu, MAPPA should forget about it and focus on Vinland and Chainsaw Man. (I am kidding. I never watched Jujutsu, but MAPPA really should stop killing their animators and stop making so many shows at the same time)

Jack SV
>>158900742

I would suggest the anime plus end of evangelion movie in my honest opinion.

Robert H.
>>158903258

MAPPA simply has far too much in its pipeline already. The fact that in addition to Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, Chainsaw Man Movie, Hell's Paradise Season 2, Dorohedoro Season 2, Campfire Cooking Season 2 and Oblivion Battery Season 2, they are also making The Rose of Versailles Movie, Lazarus and Zenshuu, makes me really angry. Vinland Saga Season 3 also wants to be produced. At the same time, I don't want Vinland Saga Season 3 to be produced by another studio. Mappa has taken the talents of WIT Studio, who have put their whole heart into this anime. I want them to adapt the rest as well.

Robert H.
>>158900150

I wonder the same thing. Chainsaw Man, Dungeon Meshi, Dandadan, Blue Box and Made in Abyss are definitely not in the poll, as all these shows are not finished yet. Eighty Six still has 10 books to go, but the show has a great finale with the adaptation of the first 3 books and is finished for many fans. I think that could be in the poll, also because there seems to be no intention so far to adapt the other books. The Promised Neverland never got a second season, but the first season has a good, albeit open ending. And in Psycho Pass, the plot of the first season is complete, with the criminal case solved. The later seasons and films don't really play a role. Madoka Magica is so semi-finished because there's another movie coming out next year, but it probably won't be available on streaming services until the Fall. And the fans of Bocchi the Rock are still waiting for a second season, which has now been considerably delayed. I honestly don't expect to see A Place Further Than The Universe until after the anime after Frieren, because I suspect they want to save the happy shows for watching alongside Monster. :D The movies will probably not be part of the poll either :( I'm really excited to see what will end up in the poll :D

Robert H.
>>158899539

March comes in like a lion (44 Episodes) would be great after Monster.

sand_fl

look, i got one recently so maybe another frieren tattoo wold be excessive... but frieren stuck on a mimic would be a funny one to get done. also, i've been rearranging my favourite shows list on tv time and yes, it's tough to frieren is currently n7.

Rrr

It's not about next poll, but I want to share the notification that the wholesome show called Skip and loafer will get S2. I know there is any possibility this show will go to the poll. So I want Patreon members here to try it out and end up pushing it. That will be definitely their favorite show and if S2 gonna be aired it would be 12 ep so has a chance to be put into the short anime poll.

KotBegemot
>>158899539

So like in a year+? I don't mind. Maybe Shaft will announce S3 by that time since it seems like they are in revival now. New Monogatari season was great and new Madoka movie is also on the way. Sangatsu is another of Shaft Big 3, so I hope they won't neglect it.

James Long

This is why I really like the idea of Apothecary Diaries next. It isn’t on the same level as Frieren, but I thought it really helped to fill the void.

sand_fl

tbh, yeah, fuck demon slayer, but i need jujutsu kaisen s3 immediately because this season has my favourite arc of the manga, after that they can delay the anime all they want 😂

Sebastian

a few others have recommended it before but ‘Look Back’ is a very sweet and moving anime film that came out earlier this year. (it’s only 58min) much like frieren it centers on how the people we meet change us and how we carry them

Joe Tucker
>>158899104

Ubel’s example of visualization as a core tenet of magic underscores Frieren(clone)’s final spell so well. Imagination as a framework for all of humanity’s magic has been hinted at a lot, but moments like this make Lugner’s “one of the geniuses I despise” line from ep 8 ring true. (This is my own interpretation but) I think Frieren’s final spell, the one she last busted out against the Demon King, is pure visualization. FrierenClone cuts out the “middle man” of mana, incantations, or somatic components and just WILLS Fern into the wall. No wonder it leaves her wide open - her brain is doing overtime rewriting reality. Frieren the Slayer indeed.

Elli
>>158908716

Demon Slayer is so much better than JJK it’s insane. JJK is the king of all action and no story. It’s like a Michael Bay anime.

Jay

Just a quick heads up: the last episode of Frieren has an after credit scene.

My Toasty Toast
>>158915668

Foolish Mortal, you think Lola and Milena would be even physically able to back out of the episode when they’re sobbing while the music plays?

Paqi

Your take on Serie is 100% correct. People can be dense sometimes

ODIS
>>158900550

I really wish the anime continued... despite the scarring I received lol... the manga is so well drawn though. But it's just too dark, especially for these two.

ODIS

Petition for a rewatch of first 4 eps in one sitting after finishing season

Caradoc Elmet
>>158908587

That's a great show but it might not fit the schedule the ladies are after. The next season starts in January, I'm told, so will be nearly finished by the time L&M have finished watching season one. If that fits the schedule I would love to see them reacting to The Apothecary Diaries, though.

Caradoc Elmet

I'd like to hear what spell L&M would choose upon becoming first class mages.

Tsunemori Kiriko
>>158900742

I honestly don't think anyone who is interested in the series should skip the 4 new movies. Only by combining the tv anime, The End of Evangelion and all the 4 new movies together can you enjoy the whole complete emotional and mental journey of the director Anno Hideaki's heart and mind.

James Long
>>158908587

I've said it before, but I would be fine if it was just Season 1 for now.

Tsunemori Kiriko
>>158900742

And the anime was not adapted from the manga, as the tv anime is the original medium of the story and served as the foundational narrative for the entire Evangelion franchise. The manga adaptation by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto began serialization in 1994, initially as a promotional tie-in for the anime. While the manga provides an alternate retelling of the story, it was developed concurrently with the anime and did not precede it as a source material. The 4 new movies were not adapted from the manga either. These movies' stories are all by Anno Hideaki originally.

KotBegemot
>>158908716

not really a fan of both but imo this one small 5-episodes arc in the beginning of S2 of JJK has miles more depth and artistic integrity than anything that DS could ever offer. But it's hard to compare tbh Demon Slayer is closer to something like My Hero Academia and JJK is going more for Hunter x Hunter / Yu Yu Hakusho vibe.

Robert H.
>>158908716

For me personally, Demon Slayer is an animation tech demo whose story, dialog and characters were written by an 11 year old. The dialog is so stupid, and the characters so one-dimensional, that I would call them zero-dimensional, as they are practically just one-liners on a blank page. It's so incredibly dull. Apologies to all the fans :D

sand_fl
>>158908716

i completely agree with you Robert. i watched s1 and it was pretty meh, then I strated s2 and saw it was basically the same thing all over again and the jokes were never up my alley and the sexualization of certain characters didn't help either. i just dropped it. i get that jjk is just action packed and not that deep, but i think it's way better than demon slayer.

J
>>158908716

Demon Slayer is written by a woman, is all about a sibling bond, and the main character is such a good and decent human being that he makes the Haikyuu boys look like jerks. Are there a thousand other anime L&M could watch? Of course, but you can't tell me L&M wouldn't adore Demon Slayer.

sakurabraus
>>158908716

ouch. But i agree lol, demon slayer is such a boring anime, i never understood the hype. If the fights were good at least, i would have understand it better but they aren't so...

sakurabraus

cruel of you to tell us that you already decide what animes are going to be in the poll without telling us which ones haha. Hope you're going to put pluto i know you'll love it!

Lau
>>158907321

They would absolutely love skip to loafer!! but id say to wait until season 2 is out!

long ass username

The reason Wirbel wouldn’t have been able to just cut through the Proctors cloak is because he isn’t insane enough like Übel to only think of the cloak as a cloak. He believes intellectually/subconsciously that it can’t be cut due to the defensive barrier of the cloak while Übel disregards that concept completely and can imagine cutting it because she has a screw loose lmao.

beannieswife

i highly recommend skip and loafer or apothecary diaries for your next watch! both with real good female mc's like frieren♡

Mr Krabs

sad but MAPPA studio who makes vinland is busy making JJK season 3 and chainsaw man, it might be a few years before a vinland announcement if there ever is one

Ryan Peters

One of my favourite details with the mimic scene is that there's already 3 other mimic chests off to the side. Which means that was the 3rd attempt (in that room alone) and Frieren was still confident! 🤣🤣🤣

Jacob

"The rules of magic can't stop me, because I don't understand them."-Ubel

Jacob

The clones that had already been destroyed coming back to fight again caught me totally off guard when I watched this episode, even though there was no particular reason to think the Spiegel was limited to only creating them once. Pretty appropriate for an episode where the limits of characters imaginations was a key plot point.

Alpi

I'm a little sad that only finished shows were considered for the next poll. I would've loved "86" to be on it. Yes, it isn't finished, but the ending it had feels conclusive for it is (similar to HxH). Unfortunately, under those criteria it will never get a shot because a second season isn't in sight. Which is a bummer. I'm certain the girls would love that show.

cosmotron

I wish Fruits Basket could qualify as the next show for this slot…if they’re wanting something similar to Frieren in that it has great female characters (main character is a girl), and is all about emotions and relationships. It can be sad but is also just as often funny, and is ultimately extremely hopeful no matter how sad things seem in a moment. No matter what though, I’m not ready for this show to end ❤️

Chris LUL
>>158899539

I think sangatsu is the best anime i've ever watched shit is so peak (but it would kinda destroy them from time to time lol)

beannieswife

oh I almost forgot, I think you guys would enjoy “your lie in April” too!! It’s a show about music! you guys would love how poetic and beautiful it is🫶

Edward Worrall

i thought it was recency bias but i think this is the best show i've ever seen. its as good as hunter x hunter but it has an efficiency of storytelling like the episode forks in the bear. ive never seen episodes that get so much done in such a little time but yet you feel like your taking your time. the other thing is the fighting sequences we have no training arc. so we dont know what we are going to get in the fights. the other thing is the flashbacks i thought would be used as a deus ex machina to get out of situations in the present but they are soo much more than that.
