My Toasty Toast

Happy Frieren Friday everyone ♥️ 💙 💜

Aris

happy merry joyful friday ❤️

Isaac

ooo Milena agrees! When I recommended Frieren, I was saying that you'd want to sit with Season 1. Complete opposite of Vinland

HenryM

Happy Friday ❤️

My Toasty Toast

I would humbly submit that we need a re-watch reaction not just for the first 4 episodes, but the first 6 so Stark is not left out. I would literally edit this for free if time is an issue

Pelamis

Although the show is almost over, the entire anime covered a mere 60 chapters of the manga, which is currently on Chapter 140. So even when you finish you'll be less than halfway through the story. But the bad news is that sadly the manga is now suddenly on hiatus for unknown reasons (speculation of S2 anime work since no health reasons were cited).

sand_fl

well, another frieren friday were it just brighten up a shitty day... only one left. what the hell will i do whenever i have a shitty friday and there's no more frieren to fix everything 💀

Jay

Petition for Lm to react to the first 4 episodes again.

Season 1: Chapters 1-60 Season 2: Chapters 61-119 Season 3: Chapters 120-140+ What else I can mention: The manga is on hiatus again right now, but health issues are not the problem. The manga has always had short breaks of a few weeks to 3 months in the last two years, but always because of storyboard ideas, supporting work in the anime or family. Many fans suspect that they are currently helping out with season 2 at Madhouse.

Robert H.

Is it still Happy Frieren Friday when they're practically drowning in tears? :D

William Roberts

That's why Himmel doesn't look surprised when Frieren makes the field of flowers for the party in the Blue Moon Weed flashback, he's seen it before.

Erdanxela

Yeah serie is a walking contradiction

Senfkrähe

I think Ancient Magus Bride would be in their lane too.

My Toasty Toast

Serie, who condemns Flamme and Frieren’s favorite spell that creates a field of flowers, yet is surrounded by flowers created by magic. Serie, who rebukes Flammes’ wish of creating a Magic Association, and then forms the Continental Magic Association so humanity’s magic can reach greater heights. Serie, upon hearing of Flamme’s passing, dismisses the news saying she only took her as an apprentice on a whim, and then goes on a walk talking and reminiscing of nothing but her student Flamme. Serie, who says she should never have had human apprentices, yet immediately wants Fern to become her apprentice. Serie, who thinks mastering mana-restraining like Flamme did is a waste of time, yet spends centuries mastering it after her death. Serie, who fails test-takers saying “magic is about imagination,” and then tells Frieren “I can’t imagine how you beat the Demon King.” Serie, who has the power to kill the Demon King, but cannot imagine herself in a time of peace. Serie, please see a therapist

Do you mean the GameRant article? Yeah, it's already been ripped to shreds on Reddit by Frieren Subreddit because nothing in the article is confirmed or even true. Some even suspect an AI article. The only thing that's true is that the manga is on indefinite hiatus again, which as I said happened before for a few weeks.

Paden Snell

Good catch on the nature of serie at the end. She's the most powerful mage and an elf that has lived for ages. But almost everything she says is petty and dishonest about her feelings. She calls the flower spell useless but she conducts the final test in a huge garden staring at the flowers more than looking at the test takers. She calls hiding your mana useless but she's also been doing it. She's says she shouldn't take on human students, but she's created an entire human school of magic to take on more students. And immediately tries to take fern as soon as she learns her potential. She's such an interesting character. Part of her is a lot kinder and warmer than she let's on. But hides it behind a cold petty, aloof exteerior

accordingtowiki

Watch the last episode until the end, after the credits :)

Definitely Chapters 1-60 for S1, 60 ends exactly where the anime ended. Yes I think the A.I. which writes GameRant articles must have been trained on so often seeing "haitus" next to "author's health".. especially if it were trained on HxH articles. I like the speculation that the hiatus is because this is the final chapter of the year for the best story in anime and manga history, aka when contracts expire, and the authors probably want a raise. But goodness knows, in the least it's reassuring to know hiatus has happened before and will likely be recovered from!

Serie’s mana is much greater than Frieren’s, also in part due to the fact that she’s been around for a lot longer.

>>159546790

I always thought this was just her way of coping with loss. Frieren has lived most of her live in isolation. Serie is much older then her and has taken on many students. The opening at around 1:10 actually shows how she lives on throughout the ages while those around her pass away.

Robert H.
>>159547923

We have not yet been given any figures, but fans estimate Frieren at 1500, Kraft at 6000 and Serie at 12000 years. Serie is old old and extremly powerful.

Mr Krabs

the manga has enough content for about season 2 and like less than half of season 3

Isaac

Lola, for the episode title, it's using Future Perfect Tense. It's a grammatically correct way to speak of planned future events as if they are certain

My Toasty Toast
>>159544665

Without spoiling, the next few chapters in the manga are going to require intensive drawing as there are extra details that normally aren’t there. Makes sense to hiatus for the extra time needed

Isaac
>>159545634

His face then hahaha that spell is his JAM. It makes even more sense why he knows the "language of flowers"

But given the length and distance of the journey so far and the open storylines for the characters, we can expect to end the story with at least 240 chapters and up to 360 chapters. 4 to 6 seasons is therefore to be assumed, although I really hope for 240 chapters. I love the story, but I'm worried that if the story is stretched out because of its success, it will lose its depth.

Vitor

This is my favorite episode of the season, i few like i could spend hours just talking about it lol I really love how this show does basically "inverted plot twists" through the flashbacks. For me, the flashback with child Himnel recontextualized everything that happened prior. It changed how i view Himmel's love for Frieren and also added a lot of meaning to episode 2 (it makes sense now why Frieren was so dedicated to cast that spell around his statue). This show always does these things. It gradually adds information that drastically affect how you perceive things that happened before. Going back to the first eps you realize there was SO MUCH reason behinh every little action Frieren took and we had no idea. Also, Serie is like my second favorite character of the show. I believe the whole reason she created this Magic Association is because she is constantly searching for a "second Flamme". Maybe the cause is someone else even older than Flamme (Serie backstory is a mystery and a i havent read the manga), but Serie is obsessed with finding a student that could surpass her own power. I think that is why she is so dissapoited at Frieren, because she has the talent and time to overcome Serie, but simply does not care enough to put in the effort (from Serie perspective).

The Frieren manga is really insane at the moment. I didn't like the new arc that much at first, but with the building side stories of familiar characters, this one might just become my favorite :D

One of the things you mentioned isn't yet known to people who haven't seen the final episode, but true.

Hollow

It's been so nice that y'all feel so emotionally about this series all the way through. I haven't watched too many but most seem to be disappointingly stoic throughout. Only ones I've seen cry seeing the second ending for the first time, like myself. I'll miss your reactions to Frieren almost as much as you'll miss Frieren itself.

Broken89

Please react to the first 4 episodes again, everyone would love to see it! <3

Lixien

Frieren spent thousands of years surpressing her mana jsut for the demon king to see through it. It was the flower spell that actually saved the world.

sand_fl

well, just finished it and while i expected them to cry i surely did not expect lola to almost need to get injected fluids due to dehydration lol it was a bit funny to see ngl, it reminded me to fnab final episodes when it looked like you two were about to die from crying so much

Pankeke

let's go! another friday of tears

@Robert -- If done correctly, Frieren is the type of show that could easily blend in a few anime original stories depicting parts of their journey that we weren't privy to in the manga, so I feel like a new season is easily attainable no matter how many chapters are out. That being said, the storytelling for filler would need to be on par with everything else. Filler or no filler, I hope the next season will be treated with the same amount of love as this one, no matter how long it takes to come out.

>>159546540

oh such a pretty anime as I recall.. Didn't finish until the end though, so can't speak for the story itself...

Max Carter

This might be my favourite episode so far, wow so many beautiful moments that flesh out things from both the current and past timelines. The parallels between the Frieren/Fern/Stark timeline and the Party of Heroes time has been one of the best aspects of the show for me and this episode was utter perfection in that regard. I find Serie to be a fascinating character so far and I hope we see more of her, the way she instantly asks Fern to become her student is very telling, she obviously actually respects human mages a lot and sees Fern as a new Flamme type mage which I suspect is why she opened her school in the first place

Arben
>>159548622

if they're interested, they can look up "sequence of tenses" too re: hypotheticals. In a sentence, though: "it would be great if we kissed again", to riff on their joke suggestion :)

Jacob

Denken and Laufen did a speedrun on developing familial ties.

Ken Drummer

What a beautiful episode. I was crying so much my glasses were fogging up.

Robert H.
>>159638142

Suddenly family :D But to be honest: Denken is a friendly grandpa guy.

Jacob
>>159549989

I never saw the 100 or any reactions to it, they really hate it that much that it's sub-F?

Isaac
>>159549989

It was very close to their hearts and the writers betrayed their trust. Love hard, Hate hard 😋

JB

Fern is basically the next and today's Flamme.

JB

Another message of this episode and show in general is team work will always beat any single powerful opponent.

Thomas

"And I'm alright" Melina: noooooo~ 😭
