its that time of the year folks (lets not discuss what this is replacing).. there were many short animes that we could have picked so we just went with ones that have concluded. as always don't kill each other in the comments <3

Comments

Dammy Oshikoya

Really hoping for Banana Fish, such a great crime drama anime

Daniel Molina

Some damn good shows in this poll 😭 Steins; Gate will forever have my heart tho

llama

Hoping dororo wins 🙏🏾✨

Abdus Samad

Steins gate let's go...hopefully

YawnSong

Bebop is the goat. Changed my life.

Joaquín Calderón

I voted for your lie in april because i want to causa myself a lot of pain 🥺

Gucci Pucci

If Steins gate doesn’t win I will cry 😭

mundanelotus

If Steins Gate wins, that gives me a good excuse to rewatch the series!

PJ

your lie in april i beg

Aglio Olio

haven’t seen any, voted steins gate

Zeiss

El Psy Congroo.

Alberto Cruz

Not much of an anime guy but I would definitely watch a cowboy bebop series. Have they watched NGE yet?

Emily Tinney

Fingers crossed for Your Lie in April! You guys would love it ❤️

beannieswife

Im refusing to believe frieren has come to and end but YOUR LIE IN APRIL NATION, LETS RISE🗣️🗣️

Horizon xkuni

IK I HAVE A COWBOY BEBOP PFP. BUT STEINS GATE IS THE ONLY CORRECT OPTION

Lau

DORORO OR BANANA FISH will be 100% up your alley!!!

Omar O

Hopefully Madoka Magica will be concluded later this year to make it into a new poll

Mahni Alizadeh

Bebop is the only one I’ve seen so nothing against other ones, but they will love it. Character work, cozy retro vibe, broken people, found families, everything

John Wick

COWBOY BEBOP 🤠

Michael Cannon

I just don't see steins gate hitting for them. Open to being proven wrong. Banana fish would devestate.

JoloPolo

Are you going to watch Squid Game S2?

Kael

Please Steins;Gate. I promise a vote to Bebop for next poll but we were waiting 3 years for this

oum

Would have loved to see Fruits Basket in the poll, it's the perfect show for you guys especially after Frieren, but hopefully someday you will watch it.

Fettywop

Have they seen Kaguya??

Samu

Please watch your lie in April, it is the epitome of a gut wrenching romance coming off age story. I‘ve been following you guys for years now and I know that you would both ADORE this series. The characters are the heart of this series and their dynamics, development and conclusion make this series an absolute 10/10. I’ve watched over 200 anime in my life and there are only 4 that I would call perfect, but your lie in April is one of them. This series will make you guys so happy and it will heal you but at the same time it will make you cry and break you at the end. Believe me, your lie in April is a must watch

Lau
>>160577108

fruits basket is a long show!! this is the short anime slot, but I 100% agree, I will definetly vote Fruits basket if its in a future poll

refo44
>>160577127

They haven't watched it yet, I hope someday they will react to Kaguya-Sama. But is a long anime and this is just for short anime shows

Seni Adeyemi

I’d be happy with Cowboy Bebop or Steins;Gate

My Toasty Toast
>>160576992

Same. There’s one scene that’s burned in my mind that I just can’t imagine them enjoying the character afterwards

My Toasty Toast

Didn’t expect Cowboy Bebop i haven’t seen it in ages!

Marcus Cato

I noticed a lot of people recommended Fruits Basket on an earlier reaction video. Have they already seen it? Did they rule it out because it's too long? In any case I think they would love it given the way they love analyzing relationships. Anyway, lots of really good shows in this poll. Hopefully they enjoy. Cowboy Bebop appears to be taking a pretty commanding lead.

Mark M

Crossing my fingers for Bebop

RepliCant

Steins;Gate ❤️‍🔥

refo44
>>160577108

I guess will be in the next long anime poll after Monster. FB has 3 seasons. But yes Fruit Basket is awesome

Ale

I'll die with Banana Fish

Abdullah
>>160576898

"Yes, I agree, but this Anime is episodic; I am more in favor of the overall storyline."

My Toasty Toast

Man this is making me sad realizing we’re done with Freiren for now

SunnyhuunS

Piano Pain pleeeease

James Long

Since Cowboy Bebop is winning, I just have to say it needs to be the English dub. If there is one universally accepted English dub, it is the one for Cowboy Bebop.

thelumpur

Just throwing out Baccano! for future polls, from what I recall it was short and quite fun

Saiko

Your Lie in april i could pray for this, lil recommandation for next poll: Pluto, this is a remake of the astroboy story by the monsters mangaka

Lau
>>160577444

they havent watched it !! but this is a poll for the short anime slot, there will be another poll for the long anime slot in the future, but after theyre done with haikyuu and monster... so in a very long time sadly. But in that poll, fruits basket could be a contender! I would love for them to watch it!

Bambina

No JJK yet again

Gucci Pucci
>>160577871

The post does say they chose from short & already *concluded* shows. JJK gonna be a while^^

Jason Parker
>>160577444

They haven't seen it but it's too long for this slot. They have to finish watching Haikyuu and then Monster before they can start a longer show. So it'll be a few years at least for Fruits Basket sadly

Akis Voul

'Odd Taxi' is what they would love the most. Not very popular but truly great

Lau
>>160577444

few years.... it sounds incredibly crazy lmfao but yeah ):

HenryM

What do you mean I can't vote for Frieren again?

TuiLa4

LOTR counts as anime right?

oum
>>160577108

That's fair, in my mind it's not that long but comparing to the ones on the poll it definitely is!

refo44
>>160577444

FB it would be an excellent choice but maybe they didn't include it because it has 3 seasons and this is a poll for short animes.

Brandon

i feel like the girls will like steins;gate infinitely better than cowboy bebop

Lucie McCoy

Man I know it won’t win but my vote is always for banana fish….

Kya Colosseum

Banana Fishers will get our way eventually

Harfie

Banana fish reaction on this channel would be insane

Lau
>>160578471

harfie we need to push the banana fish agenda

Tsunemori Kiriko

I'm just gonna campaign for my favorite anime: Bang Dream It's MyGO (which is not in this poll but hopefully you girls will include it in a future poll). And for those who are interested, Bushiroad paid Gigguk to do a watchalong stream of the full season of MyGO (which is 13 episodes) on January the 18th (PST). This is a great chance for you to get into the world of MyGO in an easier way. What's more, the 2nd part of the story, Bang Dream Ave Mujica, is currently airing this season, but you have to finish MyGO first to check it out.

James Long
>>160576992

That’s why i feel like when the time comes for Steins Gate, needs to be the dub. It plays up the humor and makes certain stuff more palatable.

Alex

Solid options, looking forward to whichever one takes it. 👌

Zach D

somewhat new to the channel.. do they mostly only do anime?

Gucci Pucci

A bargain for the 3 other show voters: If either of your groups takes their votes away and helps Steins;Gate win its deserved victory against the Bebop (that we’ve been waiting for for 3 years), we will make sure you‘ll win the next poll.

Norbert Ramirez

Blue eyed samurai? Afro samurai? 😁 something, gals?😉

Gucci Pucci
>>160578983

They got slots for different show categories, some are longer running, some shorter, some animated/anime and some not^^ This was a poll to replace a (single season) shorter anime that will end soon/has ended ( idk, I’m not watching that one)

refo44
>>160578983

No. They also react to shows. However, this poll is meant to replace the slot of a short anime they recently finished. So, it's a poll for the next short anime. Right now they also watching Haikyuu (as a long anime), The Sopranos (as a long TV show), and they are almost finishing Arcane (as a short show)

Eric

Cowboy Bebop is just so overplayed. It's good, but nowhere near the quality people hype it up to be. It was just a lot of people's first non-shonen anime.

Tiber Septim

anyone else finish banana fish and not like it?

Sebox

If Steins;Gate doesn’t win it’s clearly fault of the Organization working in shadows :]

Richard Rimachi

Casi grito viendo nuevamente a Cowboy Bebop 🤩. Pensé que estaría Los diarios de la boticaria para empezarlo con las chicas, pero me encantaría volver a ver CB con ellas, también

Robert H.

Guys, Dororo or Banana Fish. Otherwise I will leave Patreon! ... until Invincible returns 😂

Robert H.
>>160579200

Blue Eyed Samurai should be recommend, when the final Season is near. Season 3 should come 2027 🤔

George

Excited to see which anime wins! If you’re ever thinking about reacting to a different style of animated show, Bojack Horseman could be interesting. It does deal with heavy themes, but it’s very well written and has a great mix of humor and emotional depth. That said, it’s not for everyone, especially early on, but I think it could make for some great discussions if you gave it a shot

Project Mayhem

I'll be so sad if Steins;Gate doesn't win

sleepymiffi

PLS PLS PLS BANANA FISH!!! they'll absolutely love it, the angst, the story, the characters, the tragedy, the pacing, the relationships....

refo44
>>160580571

They usually react to non japanese animations like Invincible in the slot for short shows. Right now they are reacting to Arcane. Lola already watched Bojack Horseman so I doubt they will react to it

I Have No Enemies

Sigh. Cowboy Bepop is great but the reactions won't hit the same as Steins Gate or even Your Lie in April

Rogelio Buy

Your Lie in April fans. I've come to bargain. Steins;gate has been on the polls for 3 years now. I feel it's justified for it to get the chance, so if you change your vote to Steins gate i will vote for YLIA in the next poll. Monster fans finally got their chance, i say Steins gate is the next one to deserve it

Lau
>>160580444

boycotting the patreon unless either of those win, im in!!

coni

I need LM to experience banana fish

Unholy

Dororo for what its worth. Not a big poll for me. Was more of a Trigun/Champloo person over CB

Robert H.

I'd like it if Cowboy Bebop and Steins Gate were both at 33% with the same number of votes to have proof that a 2 choice poll wasn't the problem. 😂

sand_fl

Well, i haven't watched any of these so again, i will end up watching along whichever wins

Robert H.
>>160581067

Your Lie in April all the way. So many great scenes, they would love.

terrier

Wait wasn't monster suppose to be next without a poll?

cosmotron
>>160581067

Though I’m not a Your Lie in April fan I agree. Cowboy Bebop is a classic and certainly worth watching, but for me at least it doesn’t tend to hit too emotionally.

refo44
>>160581806

Maybe you can read the synopsis watch tne openings and trailers and so you can choose one for the poll

I Have No Enemies
>>160581067

Yeah I initially voted for Your Lie. But I shamelessly switched to Steins Gate in hopes of it beating Cowboy lol

sleepymiffi

usually im kinda passive when it comes to polls, but when an underrated show that i love (banana fish) that almost no popular reaction channels have reacted to, is up against shows that usually win, the need for it to win is super strong. i will hold on hope that it gets chosen. also i HAVE to hear milena and lola say “ i’ll give my life for Ash ” and “my boy☹️” … they’d love him so much, he’s the type to be their favs based on their favourites from the many shows i’ve seen them react to.

Kael
>>160581758

In that case I think that YLIA, BF and Dororo voters should unite to make any of them another 33% option

refo44
>>160581938

Thar is for the long anime slot. This poll is for short anime

Robert H.
>>160581806

Vote for Dororo for me! A voice for the crippled deaf and mute in the fight for justice! And with that, I just realized that there are a lot of parallels with Ranking of Kings, except that everything heartwarming has been replaced by pain, suffering and violence. 😂

sand_fl
>>160581806

tbh i like going in a bit blind when i'm watching along something new with them. i had no idea what frieren was about and look at me now 🤣 i voted for steins; gate to be able to see the results and also a bit out of sympathy. as someone who waited YEARS for them to react to black sails losing poll after poll... well, i feel bad for the people rooting for it

Robert H.
>>160582543

A gay main character would also be something new on this channel. Arcane only has lesbians as far as I know. 🤔

cosmotron
>>160582543

They definitely need to watch more gay anime. I remember when they said in one of the Frieren reactions that it seemed like that wasn’t a thing in anime, and now they must be educated! Even if I personally wouldn’t choose Banana Fish.

Yanis Panagaris

We dont even need to argue, its Cowboy B or nothing here, please guys xD

Robert H.
>>160579200

That is the Problem. Too many shows are overlapping. After Sopranos we need again a few weeks to thin out the list, because Severance, Invincible, The Last of Us, The Bear, Fallout, ... and many more will come in the next 12 months, and not all can fit in the short show slot. I'm so happy, that this anime poll only has finished anime.

cosmotron
>>160580875

Me too! I like Cowboy Bebop a lot but it doesn’t hit me emotionally nearly as much.

Tsunemori Kiriko

Almost forgot...Merry Christmas to you, girls! (It's Christmas in Serbia, right?)

Norbert Ramirez
>>160579200

Yes but on the other hand if u want to grow your channel and bring in more people u need to watch popular shows that are current😀 sure some shows like Sopranos or Cow Bebop are still popular buy just cause they are classics... but for example this Banana stuff and other stuff do people really watch this?😀😀

refo44

Would the girls react to Attack on Titan Last Attack Movie?

Sebox
>>160584546

I don’t know if it’s coming to the theaters in Serbia in 2025, but 1. they could not film a reaction to it anyway; and 2. it’s just the final two long episodes combined together for a movie release, nothing new. (They should watch the Jean OVA instead 😭 super funny)

refo44
>>160584546

I hope then they have the opportunity to watch it on theaters and enjoy the experience

Tiber Septim
>>160580293

agreed and also just because something tackles heavy topics doesn't mean it does so the best, not to mention it drags at some points even for being a short show

Mark Drumheller III

Fuck dude dororo is getting slammed, that sucks. Great show 💪

sakurabraus

Sad to not see Pluto (again T_T) it's only 8 episodes and you would have loved it. Cowboy bebop is great though, i'm just not that interested for reactions and idk if you will connect that much with the charaters but i could be wrong. Banana fish could be amazing for reactions and such a change but il'll never win a poll. well i'll be back on patreon for monster

Gaboxxy
>>160581067

Bruh, changing your vote just so other anime can hopefully lose is beyond petty lol. Also, I though the same you did about The Sopranos yet it's become one of, if not the most loved show by them in recent times. Trust them, they know how to appreciate an objectively good series.

I Have No Enemies
>>160581067

I love Steins Gate a lot don't get me wrong, it's one of my favorites. I just would have liked Your Lie in April more. I'm not doing it so cowboy loses, I'm doing it because I would enjoy Steins Gate reactions way more than Cowboy Bepop

bondbond53

Let it be known that my real vote is with Banana Fish but in order to have a show I like win I will go with Cowboy Bebop. I don't like it less, no I absolutely adore Cowboy Bebop and like it more than Banana Fish, but BF is such an underrated show.

Nina

None of these are in my top tier but I think Cowboy Bebop is slightly more up your alley than the rest.

Robert H.
>>160585925

Pluto would have been awesome! Maybe because the episodes are longer than 25 minutes, so more editing? I don't know. 😢 In general, this poll also looks more like a poll between the losers of the previous polls. With the exception of Dororo, everything has been there before.

Jay

I’ll suffer in silence as I vote for your lie in April 🫡 hopefully one day it wins.

bondbond53
>>160577871

@electriq you really wish that would be the case wouldn't you. I have no doubt they'd love it and absolutely adore Yuji

Robert H.

Let's not talk about this poll, but about possible happy short anime after these, like A Place Further Than The Universe or Buddy Daddies. And no, Apothecary Diaries, Fruits Basket, Kaguya-sama and Dungeon Meshi are long anime and top contenders for anime after Monster. 😀

beannieswife
>>160582543

@cosmotron yes!! I need them to watch more anime’s with lgbtq+ characters in it!! yuri on ice, banana fish, skip to loafer, lovely complex, OHSHC (the way they would love tamaki and haruhi), madoka magica, and omg so much more

sunshine

LAB MEMBERS LETS GOOOOOOOO

Caradoc Elmet
>>160583508

Cowboy Bebop is really good but I never enjoy reactions to it for some reason. I probably won’t be watching if that wins, but I won’t be complaining either. There’s bound to be something I do want to watch coming up at some point. I’ll hang around whatever wins.

sunshine

STEINS;GATE REACTIONS WILL GO SO HAAAAARD :DDDD

sunshine
>>160583508

as much as I love the space cowboys, I'm fighting for the lab mems this time ;D

beannieswife

btw! merry Christmas girlies!!❣️ hope you have a great day/night :) <33

Ninaly

Steins;Gate has been in the polls for so many years, please let's finally get a reaction

sunshine
>>160581806

you must be new to anime then? a lot of newcomers prioritize the seasonal anime over watching the classics, they're remembered so fondly even though they're decades old for a reason ;D

sunshine
>>160579830

cowboy bebop is perfection, it's the total package, the appeal of it is far more like the appeal of movies than anime imo, one of the best direction, visuals, music, atmosphere, worlds, and most fun found famlies in fiction, more than that, it can nail so many genres at once, it can be anything, that's what makes it so special.

Robert H.
>>160587061

Me with Dororo too. Your Lie in April would have been great too. They would enjoy that one a lot. In general, I would also like to see more attention paid to romantic anime with adult couples. A Sign Of Affection or My Happy Marriage would be interesting. Otherwise, we're stuck with teenage love lives all the time. :D

sunshine
>>160579175

yes please!! we'll vote your anime next poll, you have our word ✌️

Pankeke
>>160587602

Run With The Wind is an inspiring short anime, but I don't think it would win a poll lol

Robert H.
>>160587602

@refo44 Spy x Family would fit after Monster too, but I really don't see it win against the others.

sunshine

I can already imagine lola and milana cracking up at okabe and kurisu's banter, calling mayuri their sunshine, the serbian language emerging in the powerful moments, unreal HYYYYYYPE

Lau
>>160577871

i have no doubt that they would love yuji and many other characters, i just think there are some parts or aspects of the anime they wouldnt care too much for, but I might be wrong. I think they would really like it up to the first part of season 2 imo

Yami

I honestly feel Cowboy Debop would be best. I can't really remember if they ever reacted to much Space Sci-Fi other than The Expanse or even in anime. Steins;Gate would also be amazing just to give me an excuse to finally watch it.

Robert H.
>>160576992

@My_Toasty_Toast Steins Gate could really be the first anime they cancel for that very reason. All characters are awful and not in an interesting way.

Mahni Alizadeh

interesting to see Bebop winning but getting next to 0 support in the comments. That said if it wins I will second the commenter to recommended the English Dub

sunshine

lola and milana, if steins;gate loses this time, would you consider giving it the monster treatment? (how you put it after haikyuu automatically because it was there for so long) I don't think it's unfair, since it's been in the polls ever since 2022, up against mob, against hxh, against frieren, honestly that'd make us lab members sooo unbelievably happy, I hope you consider it <3

Yami
>>160591515

Also this, I think it would really be a good change of pace for them to get to experience an English dub voiced anime and one that's actually worth it to watch.

Kaycee

I’m gonna vote for Your lie in April even though I know it’s not gonna win 🤣 I might change my vote later on I wish dororo had more of a chance tbh. Not really too mad with cowboy bepop or steins gate winning except I’m not sure if they would like some of the humor in steins gate.

sunshine
>>160591678

not to mention its the next most voted, that might change till the end of the poll but prolly not

Andres Osorio

Damn, voted for steins gate as I think they’ll really appreciate it but it seems bebop will win! Have always felt bebop is a tad overhyped.

sunshine

honestly, as much as I want steins;gate to win, I'm super happy cowboy bebop is here and being voted highly, I thought older anime won't stand a chance in the polls since a lot less people would have seen them, I'm so glad this isn't the case. cowboy bebop is one of the best anime ever made.

Robert H.
>>160591678

Can I then place bets with others on which episode they will drop Steins Gate? :D

Rogelio Buy
>>160591678

i agree, cowboy bebop wasn't even in the last 2 polls. I feel like Steins gate will never get the chance

cosmotron
>>160591678

I'd love that. Fruits Basket may need the same when its time to replace long shows, despite its popularity it hardly ever wins polls.

blitzman08

Make sure to watch Bebop in Dub

My Toasty Toast
>>160587602

I love Spy Family but I can’t help but feel it undercuts narrative and character progression in favor of going a sitcom/slice of life direction. Some of those episodes are very filler-ish to me

sunshine
>>160589484

mad scientists always win ;D we'll conquer the polls with the power of chaos!!

Robert H.
>>160587602

@My_Toasty_Toast I feel the same way. There are episodic but too episodic. Spy X Family clearly needs more character progression despite the “normal” everyday life. I'm really excited to see what it will be like in season 3.

refo44
>>160587602

To be honest I feel the same about the episodic slice of life progression of Spy Family

Benjamin Harris

Whether it’s Steins; Gate or Cowboy Bebop please and I’m begging you… watch the Dub!

cosmotron
>>160582543

No 6, Bloom into You, Carole and Tuesday, My Next Life as the Villainess, Given, Revolutionary Girl Utena...there's so many more too!

sunshine
>>160591678

robert H. hell yeah lets go!! my bet btw is that they'll fall in love with it at the very, very latest from the second ep, if you seriously think lola and milana will drop it, then you've a lot to learn, I'll have the time of my life laughing at your bet! MWAHAHAHAAAAA, BRING IT ON!!

sunshine
>>160591515

it's not easy to put it in words what's makes bebop specifically awesome ig, compared to other anime, it's one of the most unique and creative anime out there

cosmotron
>>160591678

@ RobertH, I know you have strong feelings about it but I doubt they'd drop the show. I'm critical of certain aspects of it but still love the series, and my guess is they'd feel the same

sunshine
>>160593689

s;g's dub is excellent, but the sub is LEGENDARY. how do you even top miyano? btw lola and milana, if you don't know, miyano is the voice actor for light yagami. BEST VOICE ACTOR EVERRRR

sunshine
>>160591678

cosmotron, I agree, there're certainly some aspects they won't enjoy, but the enjoyable and endearing bits are super overpowering imo

Hollow

Was hoping Made in Abyss would make it on here again, but both Steins;Gate and CBBB are good choices. And like others have said, definitely go dub for the CBBB. S;G dub is...fine, but most prefer sub still.

cosmotron
>>160593689

I like the sub too, but I found the way the dialogue was written in the dub to be more personally engaging for me.

Truemeathead

Your Lie in April is so dope if you are into classical music. I’m not sure yall can handle it, you’ll need some tissues lol. Plenty of anime have got me emotional but this one smacked my eyeballs and made them flood tears more than any other so far.

Mahni Alizadeh
>>160594422

Is that on Crunchyroll now? I remember wanting to watch a few years ago but couldn’t figure out what platform it was on

bondbond53

I wish you girls include Neon Genesis Evangelion, it has 26 episodes

Kael
>>160591678

Now LM needs to make it happen to see the outcome of the bet

ecksdee

If Steins;Gate wins for the love of god don't listen to the people telling you to watch the dub. The acting is incredibly stiff and inorganic by comparison, being incapable of reaching the same emotional peaks, and much of the cultural humor is entirely lost in translation.

Gangster Pikachu

The English dub for Cowboy Bebop is a must. It's highly regarded as better than the original and one of the best ever, the same as Fullmetal Alchemist. Steins;Gate dub is also a must, IMO.

vegetable

steins;gate is absolutely amazing, phenomenal cast, and I think will have the greatest reactions too.

refo44

Is there any possibility to react to an anime movie before starting the new short anime?

Kael
>>160591678

Not to mention it literally lost by 1% to Mob back in 2022. If an anime deserves a reaction it is Steins;Gate

ashton

unfortunately for us banana fish fans, we'll only get there if they made that decision themselves (just like they did with Ranking of Kings) but the choice of animes were very good I'll also be happy with Bepop or Steins winning, true masterpieces of animation

alex otis

I’ve never heard of a single one of those shows. Arcane is first animated show I have ever watched, and unfortunately I believe it will be the last. Not sure what about arcane grabbed me but I just can’t handle animation. Have a very hard time connecting with the characters and stories. So I’ll leave my vote out of it. I’m just here for the second season of severance. Also will they be watching that week to week as the episodes come out? Or will they be waiting till it’s over and then watching it for 9 weeks?

sunshine
>>160595010

frrrr, eva is a must watch for all human beings, the most impactful piece of fiction of all time for me, you just gave me an idea for what to vote after I vote the s;g reactions

sunshine
>>160595088

hard agree, I don't wanna undervalue the dub, it's very good but the points you made are so true, also the sub understands the nature of the show and the characters much deeper imo.

Veya
>>160576992

I don’t think the early parts of steins gate will be super palatable, and there are some teenage boy humor that i don’t think they’ll be receptive to, but ultimately it becomes good. Don’t think it matters cause seems like cowboy bebop is gonna win anyways.

James Long

I've seen plenty of people feel the opposite way and I do as well. They feel detached with the sub, but really get into the dub. And the humor in the dub is easier to connect to. I always think back to what Miyazaki said about the subject: 'In any case, he adds, who is to say that a subtitled print is any more authentic? "When you watch the subtitled version you are probably missing just as many things. There is a layer and a nuance you're not going to get. Film crosses so many borders these days. Of course it is going to be distorted."' https://www.theguardian.com/film/2005/sep/14/japan.awardsandprizes

Bebop and Steins are classics of course but threw in my vote for YLIA. Unfortunately it came out just before the wave of YT anime reactions really kicked off so I don’t think I’ve seen any popular channels react to it.

alex otis
>>160596475

That is fantastic news. I have rewatched your reactions and the show itself like five times over the past few weeks in preparation for season 2. That said. Really really really nervous about people’s expectations. That can ruin the watching of a show. Hopefully people put their critical hats aside for nine weeks and just watch the show and be critical after it’s finished. That’s hard to do. But I just like tv. And want to have fun.

I feel conflicted about dub versions. In my opinion, dub is only appealing to native speakers. If I’m going to watch an anime or show in a language other than my own, I prefer to watch the original version. Otherwise, why would I choose the English dub over, for example, my own language version? Or why then LM don't watch the serbian dub instead? However, if they conduct a poll and people prefer the dub, I guess I’ll watch it anyways

terrier

I voted Steins;Gate because it's been on the poll since the very beginning and deserves to win, but Cowboy Bebop is truly a life-changing experience. First of all, each episode is unique and even feels more like a movie than a regular anime episode, the music / storytelling are insane and the development of the characters is just too good. Legitimately once in a lifetime story that stood the test of time.

alon

I will be on my dying bed asking have they react to banana fish yet?

Sebastian

cool to see the support for cowboy bebop carried over from the last poll, especially considering it’s a relatively older and classic anime. (also merry christmas!)

Tyler

praying steins gate wins lol

Wallas

Even though I think Cowboy Bebop isn't made for reactions, it's the best on the list, it'll be interesting to see them watching an old classic. And I vote to always watch anime in the original language (when you're watching it for the first time) I think you're already used at this point

alon
>>160605401

lmaoo im saying that because it always last they probably never going to react to it

Joshua Miller

there are people who have both steins gate and cowboy bebop in their top 5 anime so both are deserving for sure. they are such short shows that they will likely end up doing both

Zeerow

I have watched all the anime in the poll except for Banana Fish, but I don't think they'll really love any of these except for Banana Fish based on what I've heard, so I'll be voting for it. Cowboy Bebop is cool but they don't strike me as the type to enjoy episodic series. You Lie in April is decent but Lola will see where the plot is going by episode 3. Dororo has some great episodes, but half of it is "monster of the week" stuff, which gets repetitive pretty quickly. Steins;Gate is on my top 5, but the anime is too centered around otaku culture, I don't think they'll understand half of what the characters represent or are talking about.

Richy Gas

I think they would enjoy 3-Gatsu no Lion

Michael M

Banana Fish.... I think I saw that KitKat flavor when I went to Tokyo last year.

ashton

I also always had this opinion that cowboy bepop is not appropriate for reactions, but if there is a channel that can break this image it is LM

So many good options but I have to go with Cowboy Bebop, because it’s actually criminal that you ladies haven’t watched it yet.

Yanis Panagaris
>>160595267

No anime is better dubbed than its original version; it's a fact. The dubbing culture isn't the same. Japan's is tailored for J animation. I'd commit seppuku right away if an anime is reacted to in English dub here.

Skellyp

>>160595267

For me, I always enjoy both sub and dub. I think certain fans getting all gate-keepy about which is better is weird. I like seeing different actors takes on a scene, and I like the different ways things can be translated. Sometimes translation choices can really add a fun element to a show that isn't present in the original, or a different kind of performance can make it feel different in a fun way. I think the FMA Brotherhood dub is a good example of this: there are several lines that weren't in the original Japanese that were made funnier in the English dub. ("I wasn't trying to save your ass but the body of the young lord!"/"Well, it's the same ass.") Or Riza's English VA giving her a sarcastic edge that I think really fits her, but isn't present in the Japanese dub. This is despite me preferring certain performances, such as Romi Park as Ed over he-who-shall-not-be-named. Kaguya-sama Love is War is another good example: the sub and dub are quite different in some ways, but they're both equally funny imo. So, I feel similarly about the dubs of both SteinsGate and Cowboy Bebop. I've seen and enjoyed both, but I think certain choices made with the English translations really add another extra something to the characters and dialogue.

J

Out of these anime, I'm voting for Cowboy Bebop. My generation over hypes it way to much, and it didn't hold up as much as i wanted on rewatch; but for how important it is to anime history it's a show anime fans should still watch. Way before Attack on Titan created a whole new generation of anime fans (wasn't it L&M's first anime too?), Cowboy Bebop was the show that blew my generation's collective minds and more than anything else made Anime so popular in the west. Some people even argue that the anime industry might not be anywhere near as huge as it is today without the success of Cowboy Bebop in the west. Is it the best anime ever like a lot of anime fans my age still go on about? No, but just like movie nerds will never stop talking about Citizen Kane, anime nerds will never stop talking about Cowboy Bebop.

Robert H.

One thing we should take away from this poll is that democracy doesn't work. That should have become clear with Trump's election victory, but now I'm sure of it. We need a dictator who decides what is right with an iron fist. I believe that Lau(ra) should be that person. If she doesn't want to, I'll selflessly declare myself second best, of course. :D

Why do people want them to watch cowboy bebop in English though? Is this that good? I personally didn't enjoy their reaction to FMA brotherhood that much because it was in English, not saying that it was bad it's just as a non English speaker anime in English sounds weird to me. Cowboy bebop is very good in sub, I don't see how the English dub could be that much better... Maybe the translation idk

J
>>160619012

People are probably asking for the English dub because it is how they first saw it on cable, where that was the only way you could see it since Cowboy Bebop aired before streaming and even YouTube existed. Also the English dub is what made a lot of people anime fans to begin with.

refo44

I think the dub just became iconic because it's such an old show and a lot of people (Americans) remember watching it in english on adultswim and Toonami so thats what they got used to. Also it kinda helps that the atmosphere is pretty western so the english dubbing just seems to fit naturally I suppose.

refo44

Spanish dub is way better than English dub and you can't argue against that also the openings translations are better in Spanish its a fact 🤷

Jack SV

I have to vote for Stein gates.. many bros here have been waiting for a long time and tbh it shouldn’t be fair to them to make them wait again. It looks like is in second place but I hope it gets to win .

Jack SV

Also at some point they have to watch Neon Genesis Evangelion… I feel you girls are ready for that one lol

atsushi

They are all great anime, but each has its own concerns when it comes to watching. Cowboy bebop, while very cool, is quite different from the shows you have seen so far, and I think it's more the type of animation you enjoy for its style rather than for its weepiness. Cyberpunk might be a little closer. Steins;Gate is an inspiring anime, but I am concerned about the extent to which it correctly translates Japan's unique otaku culture. It also has some unique sexuality in parts, although not extreme. I usually recommend Steins, but this time I vote for Your lie in april. Not an option, but I would recommend Charlotte, Parasite, and also Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day. Not many reactors to watch those, but very good shows!

refo44
>>160621117

I disagree about Cowboy Bebop. It's not an action-oriented anime; it is more character-driven than Cyberpunk. If there is one concept that defines Cowboy Bebop, it is melancholy. Not only do its characters face personal regrets, but it also presents a sci-fi future filled with nostalgia for the past. It's like the feeling you get when you hear a sad jazz or blues melody. In some ways, you can say it explores a theme similar to Frieren, but it approaches it in a different way

yamada

It looks like Bebop is going to be the one to decide. Bebop is a great anime, but I wanted you to see Banana Fish　(´;ω;｀)

Demon Slayer is indeed long, but we are on the verge of the final chapter. If you've never seen it, it's time to start looking.

It will be very hard (impossible) to replace Frieren, but several really good choices here. I voted for Cowboy Bebop, but looking forward to whatever is chosen! For what it's worth, the English dub of Cowboy Bebop is regarded as one of the better dubs ever made, but you can't go wrong either way.

refo44

I'm following Demon Slayer anime and I will watch it to the end but to be honest I don't recommend it for LM. The same as JJK. It's just not the type of show they will be really interested to watch because is more about the animation and less about the plot or the characters. Anyways because is a long anime it will need to wait for the poll after Monster.

TC

I guess it will be impossible this time, because Steins;Gate and Bebop are two true anime classics, but we have to give props to "You Lie In April" it's a spectacular series and it's very good for reacting too <3

yamada
>>160626856

Demon Slayer is appreciated for its animation techniques. However, it was the depth of character in addition to this that made it so popular worldwide. It depicts the complex emotions and affections of the characters. That's why we want LMs to see it.

Michael Ballinger

Dororo is by far my favorite of this list, but it’s losing by so much….

Kael

Among all the anime tropes, there is a distinctive and quite celebrated type of character called 'tsundere'. Even if you don't know this term, you have enjoyed it with Levi, Tsukishima and Serie on this channel, what would they have in common to be called that? There is even a cuter version of this type of character and a great example is Edward Elric, I will call it the 'cute tsundere'. But what if I told you that you can have not only one 'cute tsundere' per anime, but two, and that they can be your main duo, and that said anime can have a great focus on the interactions and dynamics of both. That is the heart of Steins;Gate.

Abide

If you do Cowboy Bebop or Stein’s Gate, please do dub! They are both incredible and known for how well done they are. You guys haven’t done dubbed anime in a while :)

Veya
>>160626856

I mean I think they'll probably still like it regardless because they seem to like overt tearjerky beats. But there really isn't great depth of character. It's a pretty standard shonen that goes for standard shonen character, emotional, and tragedy tropes, with pronounced sad OST to help enhance the emotions (which i like though, anime piano OST slaps hard). The remarkable part of the show IS absolutely the breathtaking animation and spectacle. Like, ridiculously good. Some of the most memorable action scenes I've seen.

Shark bait

If Cowboy Bebop wins you HAVE to watch the English dub

Nemo

I recommend Kaguya Sama and Spy x Family for future Polls

More cartoons? 😞

Tsunemori Kiriko

Hi girls, I want to share an interesting idea with you from Discord: in the future polls (whether it's for animes or tv series, long or short), would you consider setting up a different "theme" every once in a while? For example, if you set up a theme like "lesbian protagonist only", then animes that are not so mainstream like Madoka Magica, Witch from Mercury, Girls Band Cry and Bang Dream It's MyGO will have a much higher chance to win. Banana Fish and Yuri on Ice for themes like "gay protagonist only"; Higurashi, Serial Experiments Lain, NGE for themes like "psychological thriller only"; March Comes in Like a Lion, Barakamon, Natsume's Book of Friends for themes like "happiness and sunshine only", etc. In this way, you will be able to discover a lot of hidden gems and you can also adjust both your mood and the overall vibe of the channel at your will from time to time. Of course, in order to do that, I strongly suggest hiring an editor and adding more show slots. Please?

Max Carter

Cowboy Bebop is an incredible show but I'm curious to see how you guys find it because it's very much a vibe show and is fairly unique. I know some people who it just hasn't clicked with but it's a classic for a reason!

Their structure is Short TV Show, Long TV Show, Short Anime, Long Anime. After Frieren: Beyond Journey's End we get another Short Anime. After Arcane we get with Severance another Short TV Show.

Rrr

Honestly, as a Japanese, It's sad a little bit that many Bebop fans in the comment say "dub is better". I'll never complain if LM enjoy this masterpiece in dub. This show is fully Sci-Fi vibes so some phrases will be more understandable in dub. But valuing dub more than sub just because you are English native is such a disrespect.

Abdullah

I think its unfortunate that popular shonen anime aren't much recommended, even if they aren't masterpieces. I'm sure the girls would enjoy them—whether it's JJK or even My Hero. But many people seem to think that only so-called masterpieces should be recommended

I know everyone loves the bebop dub and it's undeniably one of the better ones out there, but I still think the original Japanese voice cast is easily better, without a doubt one of my favorite voice casts of all time. I can't help but think nostalgia is the main reason why many prefer the dub, but hey I'll gladly watch along either way.

Nicholas

Wow I've never really thought about it but Cowboy Bebop is a great spiritual successor to Frieren. They are very different shows obviously but both shows are less plot oriented and more about the characters and the journey.

By the way, I'm actually curious: among the four animes I listed as examples of the theme "lesbian protagonist," which do you think portray the relationship between the main characters as mere sisterhood rather than a homosexual relationship?

KotBegemot

I think Cowboy Bebop is a bit overrated, too episodic for my taste. But overall atmosphere, visuals, godlike OST make up for it. Characters are pretty good too but I guess I expected more. If you're into old school action movies, be it Hollywood or some Eastern kung fu, and into noir melancholic atmosphere I think you'd enjoy it. But not sure if it's that good for discussion. I do agree with some that say that it has some similarities with Frieren. Reflections about how you live after the 'main story' ended. But in a more melancholic way, with all the typical noir attributes. I’d prefer Eng Dub tbh even though English isn’t my first language and my first experience with Cowboy Bebop was in Sub. It’s just a really good Dub and it fits with the show's mostly western vibes. But I wouldn’t be against Sub either. Tbh I'm not sure if I'm even gonna watch those reactions (sorry). I gave my vote for YLIA, I just like it more even though it’s a much simpler and pretty obvious story. But execution of it is one of the best. And it’s probably one of the most up LM’s alley from the list. S;G is also not a bad choice, especially with Eng Dub. It adapts original dialogue pretty heavily but in a good way I think. Especially if the viewer isn’t that familiar with Japanese otaku culture. I haven't seen Banana Fish so I don't know if they'd like it but from what I've heard of it they'd probably enjoy it. Not a fair fight though since it goes against such popular heavy hitters as Bebop, S;G and even YLIA to some extent. Banana Fish (and Dororo) are too niche compared to those. Dororo I haven’t seen since it aired so it’s been a while, I don’t remember that much. Only that that were a few really good episodes especially in the first half but overall it was like 7-7.5/10. Either way it wouldn’t stand a chance with such heavy hitters. Even against Banana Fish.

Since Bebop's victory is imminent, I will leave some personal observations (shared from some that I saw here in the comments) the visuals, the characters, the music and the melancholic vibe are really a highlight of the Anime and something very different from what the girls have seen before, but perhaps the way the episodes are directed is not to their liking and this could be a problem at the beginning Yes, I also think it's not an Anime that you can draw much discussion from and most reaction channels would have a hard time trying to talk about, but LM has already shown that they are very capable of doing that with any show

I recommend Medalist!! if it ever gets more seasons; I am 100% sure LM would love this one. About competitive ice skating, the mc is an 11 year old girl, who is super passionate about ice skating; they would adopt her in a heartbeat. Also her relationship with her coach is the absolute best, it truly is a healing story 🥹🥹

Jacob

I was hoping Bocchi would make it onto the poll, but it looks like there's a clear winner anyway so it might not have mattered

Bang

steins gate is really one of the best animes out there. And it has been in the conversation for sooo long, i hope this time it wins.

not bald zuzu

steins;gate will fill the void for you and more

not bald zuzu

i think you would love steins gate so much, you would love our main 3 characters so much. you will adobt one from ep1 btw. you will find it absolutely precious. moments of unexpected warmth that will hit harder, feeling a deep sense of comfort between them, and it carries a heavier emotional weight that can feel more genuine than romantic love or so. and its these type of relationships i find little in shows in general that i need more of. i hope st still stays in you radar! I'll never understand comments like this when making suggestions for a reaction channel. I always want reactors to go in to a show with as little information as possible.

James Long
>>160695849

As long as another show doesn't come along, I suspect Steins:Gate will be next after Cowboy Bebop.

Anime refers to animation produced in Japan and cartoons is a broader term that refers to animated works typically associated with Western productions. Hence, the target audience is completely different; thus they cannot be used as synonyms. You learn something everyday!

sooo true!! they'll have a feast on steins;gate amazing character interactions

cosmotron
>>160619012

As someone who watched it both ways, part of it is the translation yeah, but also enjoying different kinds of performances or inflections in the way characters talk. Its interesting you mention not enjoying the FMAB reactions as much because they were in English, because for me the way the English dub is translated adds some great bits that aren't in the original Japanese. For example, I really like Riza Hawkeye's english VA and the more sarcastic or dry tone she gives to some of her lines. Like, there's a part where she shoots Gluttony and in the original Japanese she basically just states that "I shot him in the head but he still kept going". While in English it's a little bit of a joke "Well, I shot him in the head and he didn't seem to mind." In the sub, her voice is a lot...sweeter, I suppose? And it's not bad at all - the actress does a great job - but for me it fits Riza less well than her English VA. But I feel the opposite about other characters - I love Romi Park's take on Ed for example. So, I feel similarly about Cowboy Bebop and SteinsGate. And Fruits Basket if that ever actually gets selected. There are performances and aspects that I love in both, and I think it's really cool to see the different interpretations actors give to the same characters.

@not bald zuzu then you havent seen the blinding beauty that is senjougahara hitagi, peak tsundereism

Gustavo Torres

Cowboy bebop being a very episodic anime is not the best option to react to it. My first choice was Your Lie in April, I think it's the one they would like the most and something different for having music. But seeing the way things are going, I'm going to change it for Steins Gate :(

James Long
>>160710106

Being episodic does not make something not great to react to. Last Airbender has a lot of episodic aspects to it and that doesn't hurt it for reactors. I appreciate your passion for other options, but Cowboy Bebop is as good of show for reactions as the rest.

Clay F

Looks like cowboy bebop will be the winner. Seems unlikely that steins;gate will overcome it's current 5% deficit.

James Long
>>160716001

Unless there another Frieren-type show debuts, I expect Steins;Gate will win the next poll after Cowboy Bebop. I'm not sure on the timing, but I think that should be around the same time as when Monster will take over the long anime spot. Monster and Steins;Gate are a decent pairing.

Lau
>>160668943

tbh Im recommending this to everyone, not just LM! but i have a feeling they would indeed enjoy it, being a sports anime 😌

Robert H.
>>160716001

Oh no... Can we watch A Place Further Than The Universe between Cowboy Bebop and Steins Gate? :(

Harfie

I think they would enjoy Banana Fish or Dororo so much more than Steins;gate or Cowboy Bebop. I haven't watched Your Lie In April, but from the comments, it seems like that's more up their alley too.

refo44
>>160710106

Well Cowboy Bebop also has great music, every episode is a reference to a song or musical genre, and also it has one of the best OST, opening and ending songs.

Gon Freecs

after like 3 years of recommending, Dororo finally made it to a poll 😭😭😭

yamada
>>160645005

I haven't seen all the titles you listed, so I'll only say what I know, but at least Ash and Eiji and Homura and Madoka are not homosexuals, nor are they in a homosexual relationship. (I do believe, however, that it is a work that some will see as homosexual.)

refo44

It seems we are currently in a timeline with a 6% divergence from the one where LM would react to Steins;Gate as their next short anime. Even so, I hope they can become lab members sometime in the near future. Well, even if it wasn't my first option Cowboy Bebop is also a masterpiece with great characters, even if it's not the type of show that evokes intense emotional reactions

Jason Parker
>>160684860

either way we're going to have to wait a few years until the long anime slot is open again lol

Jason Parker
>>160724664

The girls reacting to Cowboy Bebop first must be the choice of Steins;gate! I do believe they will become lab members someday. It may take manipulating time and space or resetting the worlds power structure but it will surly happen when the time is right!

Reuben Filimaua
>>160724664

This definitely is the wrong worldline. Fate must be changed and wrongs corrected. I'll do what I must to seek the Steins Gate worldline.

refo44
>>160724664

Mmm I think it's pretty clear that Cowboy Bebop has been the most voted option consistently since the start of this poll. This is also consistent with the results of previous polls, where Cowboy Bebop always maintained a slight lead. A sudden change at the last moment is unlikely to be taken seriously as a legitimate win for Steins;Gate

Kael
>>160695849

@refo44 Not only that, Steins;Gate is the anime with the most 1st places in Reddit: Favorite 2010s anime, favorite thriller, favorite Sci-FI, favorite girl and favorite guy. https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1819q9v/ranimes_favorite_anime_of_the_2010s_polls_results/ https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/17aqi4b/ranimes_favorite_thrillers_poll_results/ https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/16hrttf/ranimes_favorite_scifi_anime_ranime_poll_results/ https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1djshdi/ranimes_best_girl_poll_results/ https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/199eubz/ranimes_best_guy_poll_results/

Abide

Please consider doing Cowboy Bebop in the dub. I know the sub is great too, but to me the dub is iconic :D

refo44

Any chance to react to an anime movie before starting the next short anime? 🥺

Vitor

I have seen a lot of people praise Steins;Gate in the comments. Honestly, i wish i could agree. Steins;Gate used to be my favorite show back when i was a kid, but nowadays i just get frustated with it. So many aspects of this show have NOT aged well. Also, i hope someday the girls include Madoka Magica in the polls. It is such a good short anime, and i think it fits their tastes.

Alex Springer

This is a tough one, but my vote is for Bebop. But do it in dub. It's kind of the dub that changed everything. Beyond legendary. And THEN do Steins; Gate.

Anto

We'll never get Banana Fish, huh. I guess it's expected for a show that was not insanely popular

J
>>160577665

It was short because it never got a second season, not sure why. If we're recommending stuff from that author, I would recommend Durarara since it got to finish. The author did get a third anime but i think it's still ongoing.

BluTsunami

Cowboy Bebop! And the dub will NOT disappoint

Pankeke
>>160740800

I agree with you. I recently re-watched steins;gate and like you said many aspects of this show aged like milk, and I have some issues with the characters (a particularly scene is very disturbing), however, I'm really curious about their discussions. I still think it's a show that can give a lot to talk about.

Jeffrey Navia

justice for A Place Further than the Universe! this is the one that is 10/10 for me and that in my mind lola and milena would love as well 💔

Abdinur Hussein

I really wish 86 was on the poll, as to me as someone who has watched all these shows on the poll. Also that is show that i think the girls would enjoy with the discrimination in it. Kinda reminds me of AOT and i need their reaction to the last 3 episodes of that show. If it's not that show then i hope it is Steins;gate. My vote would've been 1) 86, 2) 3-gatsu no lion, 3) Steins gate if it had the 2 on the poll

Shiera Seastar

These shows are great, but I can't help but think that they would adore a show like "A Place Further than the Universe" more tbh. It's only 13 episodes, and is such an underrated impactful gem that I'll carry with me for the rest of my life. The themes of utter yearning, loneliness and insecurity, and female friendship and camaraderie are so beautiful, and the show is such a hug for your soul and a tribute to life worth living. Unfortunately I don't see it winning any polls any time soon unless like someone said they do themed polls :( (and for those who have seen it I also recommend watching this video essay called 'Girls on Fire" by the youtube channel Beyond Ghibli, made me cry all over again lol) I voted for Steins Gate personally, even though it seems to have lost once again lol. If the girls ever get to it one of these years I would like many others recommend the dub since it's a rare case of it being better than sub imo (same could be said for Cowboy Bebop)

Jeffrey Navia
>>160760466

as much as i love bebop, i voted for dororo since that’s the one i think these girls would most likely enjoy out of the list, but i’m really heartbroken on the exclusion of A Place Further than the Universe from this current poll. when i think of anime to follow frieren i always try to remove “action heavy” shows and to me bebop is action heavy. it’s the first anime that is 10/10 to me since i’m a huge scifi fan but in terms of reactions to a show, i think A Place Further than the Universe would be better because it’s short and sweet and tells a complete story in 13 episodes

Jeffrey Navia
>>160716001

it’s hard cause in my mind (before frieren existed) it’s that 10/10 anime for me that i think lola and milena would enjoy watching as well 😭

Rebuuk

Come on, they’ll love dororo 10000% sure

youssef

Cowboy bebop is amazing but Steins; Gate will really lead to great and interesting discussion, I really think it is one of the best anime to react to

sakurabraus
>>160619012

I totally get what you mean. There is only live action shows that I only watch in sub ( with few exceptions) but I love watching animeted shows in dub french and in sub ( arcane for example). I watch anime in sub most of the time because the dub french are not that good in most cases lol but I do enjoy a few in french. Like I said, my problem about dub it's not that this is bad it's just I'm not an English speaker so if I'm going to watch something in dub it's not going to be in English that's all. I'm really not used to watch animes in dub English and even if they can be good, I can't for some reason get really into an anime if it's in English.

Ismael Barbosa

Cowboy bebop in dub will be a nice chill watch

Kaycee

Take this poll down and replace it with just cowboy bebop and steins gate. Let the chaos unravel for the next 24 hours 😈

Pravda za Place further than the universe😔 Even tho it most likely will never win cuz it's not popular,i wish you'd just react to it.

I actually somwhat agree, (mostly from a different viewpoint tho) but mostly if we're talking about the anime (its still great tho). lmk what are the aspects without spoilers if you can (aside from lukako scene). Its not perfect, it does have plotholes, but for me, I can still enjoy it for all it gives in return. ideally, I always recommend the vn first, a lot of people who loved the anime first time around end up somewhat letdown on the second watch, and thats natural, because the studio's focus is mainly on trying to cram the whole story in (main route) not as much on understanding and getting attached to the characters, (you still do imo but to less than 10% of the vn's power) otherwise it wouldn't have cut out most of okabe's amazing monologues, this and how super fast paced the anime is, imo distances you so, so much from the characters than what could've been. imo the anime serves mostly as an introduction, whenever I miss the series, its always the vn for me. its where you really get to hangout with the characters and think deeply about all the cool science and theories, (which was also over 90% cut out) and experience the story in full glory and emotionality.

sunshine
>>160724664

while it's not the type of show that evokes intense emotional reactions as you said, imo it really excels at conceptually amazing (and unforgettable) emotional scenes that could've easily been drawn out for longer episodes to bask in the emotions much longer and intensely, scenes so well-crafted that when you think about how a certain character has lived their life so far, there's so much off-screen emotional potential to feed off on, but its just not what the show is going for, and we love it for what it is. idk if I made sense lol, sleep deprived as hell.

sunshine
>>160759074

I think it has a chance, as long as there arent recent popular anime in the next polls, monster did really well despite not being that mainstream

sunshine
>>160760466

would be cool if they made out an extra slot for anime, like they do for shows, there're a lot more anime to watch compared to shows talking numbers

sunshine
>>160736982

at this point im sure they'll make a sub vs dub poll and it'll win most likely

sunshine
>>160738935

what anime movies would you want them to watch the most? I think they'll enjoy ghibli, liz and the blue bird, and asv the most. k-on movie and end of eva will be amazing too, after the shows.

"Your Name", Satoshi Kon's films, and of course Ghibli's films

Yeah, i was manly talking about how they handled Lukako's charecter. Aside from that, i don't like the "harem" aspects of the show and nowadays the comedy of it doesn't hit the same way it used to. Maybe i just got older and more sour. But i actually changed my vote later for Steins;Gate. I am curious to see the girls react to it, and maybe that would respark my love for the show. It is really nostalgic for me.

Mr Krabs

dororo and banana fish are the 2 best ones on here and are losing by a lot this is insane

otakuguy01

If they go with Cowboy Bebop would that be the oldest show they've ever watched on the channel?

refo44

Today, I rewatched some episodes of Cowboy Bebop. I watched the English dub version and then compared some scenes with the sub. My conclusion is: it’s not bad, but I still prefer the original Japanese audio version. Maybe people prefer the dub because of nostalgia—it might have been the first version they watched when they were younger, which is why they feel a strong connection to it. Anyway, I don’t mind if people choose to watch the dub or the sub. But if there were a poll, I would vote for the sub.

James Long
>>161009812

Often the first version you watch of something can be the preferred version. This can also be said for those who watch sub first. And that is true of various other tellings of a story. Like how you have some people that prefer the original Fullmetal Alchemist anime over Brotherhood because it was first.

Abide

If you watched Cowboy Bebop in sub first, it makes sense why you think it’s better than dub. If you watched dub first, it makes sense why you’d think it’s better than sub. In my opinion the dub fits better because of the western influences of the show and the English actors so perfectly fit their characters.

refo44
>>161009812

In my case, the first version I watched was the dub, but not the English dub. Years later, I watched the subbed version and enjoyed it even more. But you’re right.

Bernat Pujadas Prat

Hi Lola and Milena! (I don't know how to send this to them, so I hope mods can help😅) I write this because I've noticed most of the anime you've reacted are shonen or seinen (for example: Haikyuu→Shonen; Attack on Titan→ Shonen; Death Note→Shonen; Frieren→Shonen; Fullmetal Alchemist→ Shonen; HunterXHunter→Shonen; Ranking of Kings →Shonen; Vinland Saga→ Seinen; Monster→Seinen) This is not an issue by itself (Vinland Saga is one of my favourite manga ever). That's just how the industry works; those are the ones who become famous/popular. Even if it's not a "problem", I'd recommend you to check shōjo and josei anime for a more broad experience. So, a bit of an explanation: Manga is published in magazines. The magazines are categorized in demographies. The demographies are: Shonen→young/teen boy Seinen→Adult man Shōjo→young/teen girl Josei→Adult woman Kodomo→Kids Inside every demography there are manga of MANY genres (So no, it's not "romance=girls". There's drama, fantasy, horror, adventure, and any genre you can imagine in each). Even within every demography, each magazine has different age groups (some shonen are more "mature", and others are more "childish"). All of this is just the TARGET. Once the manga is published, obviously anyone can read it and enjoy it regardless of gender. It's just a label. It can seem sexist to say that there's "manga for boys/girls", but as I said, it's just the target (every product sold anywhere, has a target, and it influences the way it's done, promoted, announced, etc). I'm a 24 year old nb-man, and i'm very aware of the patriarchal state of the world. Because of that, manga targeted to women are often LESS promoted, LESS adapted to anime (and when they are, often have mediocre adaptations, and almost always have just 1 season of 12 episodes, leaving the story unfinished). This is very sad, because there are MANY INCREDIBLY AMAZING stories that are invisibilized and ignored by the readers/watchers. Because of that, I want to recommend you some shōjo and josei anime that I think you would enjoy. SHŌJO: • Fruits Basket (2019) (61 episodes) (completed) Drama about a young girl dealing with life. A story about trauma, grief, found family, healing, and much more. • Revolutionary Girl Utena (1997) (39 episodes) (completed) Deconstruction of gender roles through "prince" and "princess" stereotypes. It's FULL of METAPHORES and SYMBOLISM, as it explores MYSOGINY and the suffering of women. • Natsume's Book of Friends (2008-2024. Still ongoing) (around 83 episodes) (there are more seasons expected). A story about healing. A fantastical tale about a boy growing up with the ability to see Yōkai (reatures from japanese folklore). Each one, with unique lifes. The main character is the definition of "MY BOY! MY BABY BOY!". • Yona of the dawn (2015) (24 episodes) Adventure, journey, trauma, action... The equivalent to One Piece. Sadly, even though Yona is one of the best selling manga ever, and being a LONG story with more than 50 volumes published... we only have one season for the anime. As I said, the industry prioritizes shonen😅🥲 • The Rose of Versailles (1979) (40 episodes) (complete). One of the most influential manga EVER, with an incredible adaptation to anime. Set in the French Revolution, we follow the story of Lady Oscar (a girl who has been raised as a boy, and becomes Commander of the Royal Guard) and Maria Antoinette (future Queen of France). A political drama, filled with fights, angst and social critique. • Banana Fish (2018) (24 episodes) (Completed) Crimes, Mafia, Drugs, Drama... set in New York in the 1980's. • Skip Beat! (2008) (24 episodes) (We are waiting for more seasons...🥲) A fun yet deep story ablut a girl trying to join the entertainment industry. Hilarious humor, and nice emotional exploration of each character's trauma. • Kageki Shôjo! (2021) (13 episodes) (We are waiting for more seasons...🥲) A story about girls joining a theatrical academy, to become performers. The main characters are sunshine, and it's super fun! It has some triggering stuff (it deals with sexual abuse, alimentary disorders, and more...). The manga just keeps getting better, so I hope they do another season... • Nana (2006) (47 episodes) (The anime is incomplete, but the manga is incomplete too, so it counts as complete, with a unique ending). The story of two very different girls who share the same name, and meet in a train to Tokyo. One wants to become a rock star, the other wants to be a housewife. A very deep and painful narration of their lifes, surrounded by flawed characters (like themselves). JOSEI: • Chihayafuru (2012-2020) (74 episodes) (We are waiting for more seasons...🥲) A sport anime about a japanese game (Karuta), but at the same time it's MUCH MUCH MUCH MORE. It can't be described with words, you have to experience it. I would say that it's the equivalent of Haikyuu, but even better in almost every aspect. • Kids on the Slope (2012) (12 episodes) Musical drama set in the 1960's. About Jazz, family, friends, and social unjustices. • Paradise Kiss (2005) (12 episodes) By the same mangaka who made Nana. This one is about a girl who wants to learn about the fashion industry. • Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu (2016) (25 episodes) Deep drama, around the japanese storytelling traditional performances od Rakugo • Natsuyuki Rendezvous (2012) (11 episodes) (Complete) A fantastical story about healing and mourning the dead. It uses some supernatural elements, and has a unique narration style. About an adult young man who falls in love with an woman (a bit older than him) who works on a flower shop. But then, he starts seeing rhe ghost of her dead husband!? There's also Uramichi Oniisan (dark humor), and Nondame Cantabile (orchestral drama?), and many others... Anyway, I'm sorry for this long text. I know it might be hard for these to win polls, as the most famous are usually shonen and seinen... but I hope you'll give them a chance either way! Thank you!
