i believe the Benkei thing in show was a joke about Ushiwaka's name (could be wrong). Benkei in Japanese history is from early feudal Japan, I believe, and was a very famous warrior who served under another famous Japanese figure.

So to clear up the confusion: Number 1 on Shiratorizawa is named Ushijima Wakatoshi which, when spliced together can be made to spell Ushi-Waka or Ushiwaka which is the childhood name of a very famous samurai from around the 12th century, since Ushijima is so impressive and powerful people have started calling him that "Ushiwaka" informally. The Benkei thing refers to the original Ushiwaka's companion, his right-hand man. In the legend, Ushiwaka has a close friend/partner named Benkei and so, since everyone started referring to Ushijima as Ushiwaka, the natural question was then: "Well then, who's his Benkei?"

Here's more info on Benkei: Benkei (1155–1189) was a Japanese warrior monk and a legendary figure in Japanese history. His name is often used to describe someone who is loyal and brave, or someone who is boastful at home but meek in public.

this is my second favorite team alongside seijoh and karasuno of course, and their dynamic is actually so silly and cute and so are the characters on the team (mostly in the manga though, since they cut out a lot of their team moments from the anime). they're all lovable though, so i can't wait for you to see more of them and the match itself which actually goes CRAZY, there are so many good plays and moments!!!! can't wait for the next episode <3

i get where you are coming from, but at the same time the girls are pretty good with managing expectations and not letting what they read in the comments affect their enjoyment of shows. They will enjoy a show/scene probably the same regardless of what people said
