YawnSong

bondbond53

Things that will never happen: 1. LM top 5 shows ranking 2. LM reaction to Godfather II 3. LM making a bet that actually results in something Lmao

HenryM

They should make a bet where, if Milena loses, she has to watch Lord of the Rings

My Toasty Toast

I’d like to add to the list - Lola and Milena updating their YouTube playlists and bringing back their copyrighted reactions (Freiren episode 1)

Lilac

Dang I would have loved to see the crazy makeup

combo

The group is a deck of cards. Faye is Heart, Spike is Spade, Jet is Club, and now we have our diamond

My trivia for this episode is that the carvings that the satellite makes are recreations of the Nazca lines, which are giant geoglyphs in the Nazca Desert in Peru. They were created between 500BC and 500AD, and there are hundreds of different figures that range from simple geometric shapes to the animals and people that we see in this episode. Their exact purpose is unknown. Presumably there is some sort of ritualistic or religious meaning, since it would have taken massive effort for each figure. Historians have several competing theories. Because the figures are only visible from above -- as if from the sky -- there are a lot of conspiracy theories and pseudo-scientific proposals that they were carved by aliens or that the humans who made them had flight technology of their own. These are, of course, complete bunk, and the figures are easily (well, "easily") made using period-appropriate technology and basic planning.

Eric

Our favorite nonbinary character is here!

Jack Hoff

Girls, the pre reaction discussion, let me just quote The Sopranos. "You just revealed your own ignorance." I won't say what part, but this show is really gonna blow you away.

YawnSong

Ed identifies as a girl. I feel like thats an important distinction. Trans maybe. I fully understand and appreciate if NB folks want to think of her that way though. I would gladly get educated if im wrong.

yamada

Even before Ed joined the crew, the crew of the Bebop had one of the smartest characters in the work. That character appeared in the second episode.

Nina

So funny for me to watch you construct a bet for several minutes while knowing both of you are wrong. Shame though, would've been funny if either of you won.

Eric

No, Ed will sometimes use female pronouns. She is canonically non-gendered.

Jack Hoff

Ed identifies as Ed

My Toasty Toast

Someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe the “hey you’re a girl” is a dub line not in the original, and Ed’s character is intended to be non-binary/with no assigned gender

Lychee

Personally I think both of you should have to wear crazy makeup for the next episode since Ed actually showed up in the post credit scene that you missed last episode.

James Long

No, that line is in the Japanese. From what I understand, the character was made a girl in order to balance out the crew. That being said I believe the show's creator, Shinichirō Watanabe, has recently said that Ed doesn't really have an assigned gender.

YawnSong

She literally says "Ed is a little girl" in the movie though. unless thats only a dub thing. Watanabe when asked said its meaningless to know but thats about the only thing ive seen in that regard

Boomzone

hilarious episode ! Ed is pretty much a kid, kid. So thats why its not obviously a girl or obviously a boy, its obviously a kid.

Dimitron

I heard that Ed was originally a boy but they made her a girl to balance the crew.

Mahni Alizadeh

they/them for ed is def the way to go
