Gangster Pikachu

Just wanted to let Milena know that they just confirmed production on Vinland Saga season 3. Happy New Year.

I was so excited, but apparently it's from an year old interview. There is unfortunately no new info about the show.

Been enjoying the Monster watch! Not to derail the Monster discussion, just wasn't sure where to ask this, but does anyone know if Frieren season 2 is planned for Fridays again after Bocchi is all wrapped up? It's already only a couple of weeks away. :)

priscilla

Yes, Frieren is replacing Bocchi.

It is sad that nobody recommends anime 86 :(

There is a chance that Vinland season 3 is in production. I don't know whether accounts on twitter farming likes or not, but this was trending on twitter today. People are citing the source of this information as an interview with Yukimura (author of Vinland) given to french newspaper "Le Monde". Unfortunately, the source here becomes the interviewer/reporter, not the author himself. Its not a direct confirmation. Usually Yukimura remains active on twitter and he directly participates in announcements. So this is not an official confirmation. I would say don't hold your breath, but if confirmation or announcement is going to happen it should happen within first half of this year itself. The likelihood of it truly being in production? I feel rather optimistic about it. Le Monde although used word 'preparation' and not 'production' in it.

I also get the feeling they waited until Yukimura finished the manga. I mentioned back in Season 2 that Yukimura skipped an entire arc between Arc 3 / Season 3 and Arc 4 / Season 4 because he didn’t want to write about a country he wasn’t able to visit and research. They probably want him involved in MAPPA’s writing or storyboard team so they can add new stuff we never got to see in the manga. Also, in Arc 3 he tried new things to appeal to younger readers that fans didn’t like. Maybe they’ll rework some of that too.

At least it’s something I guess😂 I feel like best case scenario they started production but realized with all the projects they have it wouldn’t be smart to announce production when they know it would take a long time before the full product is released. So hopefully they have been working on it since jan 2025 and some time this year we will get some sort of teaser or official announcent from mappa.

I mean, they will probably do 25 episodes again, which is longer than everything else Mappa has released since Vinland Saga Season 2. That are at least 2 years of production.

every single change the anime has made to the manga so far (which isn't much) was an improvement. I agree that this is a big opportunity for Yukimara & Mappa to fix arc 3, which imo is very flawed outside of the first 1/3 or so. Even if they aren't able to add a bunch of new scenes that actually take place in the country of destination, I do hope they at least tone down some of the more childish & juvenile qualities of the arc. I felt as though the heart & soul of the story was getting a bit lost at times during the later parts of the arc.

Completly agree. Arc 3 Part 2 is in my ranking at the bottom. It's in no way bad, I would say at least 3 moments in that Arc are in my Top 10 of best moments, but it's flawed. But that's why I'm really excited to see that Arc adapted in the anime and see how they will do it. All changes they did in Season 1 and Season 2 were awesome, be it the restructure of Season 1 in chronological order or the dialogue of Thorfin and Einar in the first episodes of Season 2.

I think they have to flip Mad Men on Saturday or Monster on Monday with the short anime slot on Friday. The release of the episode is on Friday.

That is an interesting take. I re-read the whole manga, after it was finished in July last year. Honestly, through my second reading I appreciated some of the humour that Yukimura sprinkled in the third arc. Now I agree for some people it did not land well. But honestly, as much as I loved 4th arc, my God, going through it month by month was too much for me. You know what I am talking about - the intensity, the build up to the final conclusion . My view of looking at third arc now is that Yukimura intended something like 'let's have some fun here everybody'. Yeah in the moment when I was reading it, it felt a bit silly, however it has grown upon me with time. Of course I would like certain parts in third arc to be entirely removed or re-worked to be honest, however it was fun to re-read it again.
