Chris LUL

Danny

Next episode onwards is straight chaos. This is just the beginning

mingofn

Worst episode of the arc ngl, can’t wait for saturday

Theo Santader

Yep weakest of the season. But some ep would have to that that title

Savage Starlight

I can't shake off the feeling that Ko-Guy is really smart 🧠

Theo Santader

The most unserious villains. Hanging around in beaches and parks while planning the most devious crimes.

Zaraiz Khan

LOOOOL this is about to get crazy, looking forward to your thoughts

Isaiah Cox

Bro i forgot this episode existed 🤣

beannie

1 day closer to ep 9, I’ve rewatched it a million times but I’m not ready to rewatch it with you girls (I’m gonna die)

Brakthir

I think at this point it is safe to give some context on the season and what the animators had to go through. It is no secret that the animation industry has extremely terrible work conditions for the animators in general. Burn out at a young age, long hours, brutal time crunches. Generally speaking, when you watch a show with bad animation, it isn't that they don't have talent, it is that they are simply not given the time or resources to give it justice. No artist wants to output bad art. Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen after Hidden Inventory is a prime example of this. We basically had the Avengers of animators working on this season, led by an amazing director, Gosso. And when I say the Avengers, I mean it. Some of the best talent around, and some joined simply to work with Gosso. And the time crunch was absolutely fucking brutal. You will see some episodes with some janky animation, or strange cuts, or this specific episode, which was basically sacrificed (given less time and attention) so that future episodes could have those resources. The animators were under terrible conditions. A few of them spoke out on twitter, or posted about how brutal the situation was, and how they were not happy with their results. One talented individual even declared he is never working for Mappa again. Despite all this, I would still say Season 2 is a flawed masterpiece when it comes to production. The highs are so high, and their vision was astounding. They were simply not given the resources to fully implement it. Thankfully, season 3 conditions were a lot better. This is just one of the largest examples of the brutal conditions the workforce endures under capitalism and Japan.

DOUBLE EPISODE DROP PLEASE I BEGGGG

Shooter223

It’s time... good luck 😅

Theo Santader

I would like to say that even though the animation industry is brutal, it is definitely not the only one. I think it's easier to see the consequences of overwork in anime, videogame, manga or other media industry which helps bring attention to the issue. However there are many many many other jobs that go through even worse conditions and no one even notices or bats an eye because the product is not in front of you. I think crunch and overwork in general is a global issue among many fields that has gotten only worse and worse every year with the increasing competition and awful job market. Workers have no power against the big corporations however because they simply need the job to survive.

Brakthir

No, i agree completely Theo. I just thought it was important to bring up this instance here, since it is so relevant. Life under late stage capitalism is brutal on everyone except the 1%. We are all suffering so they can continue to make billions off human capital and labor.

Theo Santader

100 percent should be talked about. The animators complaining about the working conditions in this season definitely had a big impact on the industry. Most shows shifted to longer times and less episodes per season after 2023 and i think this season played a big part. It sucks for the viewers but there's simply nothing that can be done it's the right thing to do.

Bambina

Yes, you correctly interpreted the comment - the author purposely said he won’t reveal what Gojo said to Geto in the movie. Also yes, the manga ended

Isaiah Cox

That end discussion was so damn funny lol 😭

bondbond53

Normal villain group meet-up (the Phantom Troupe for example) is usually a dark moody place. JJK villains meet up in the chillest places possible like a beach, a family restaurant or a playground lol

bondbond53

I feel like you girs really understand the way Gege Akutami's author brain works because you are so good at reading between the lines of his work and understanding what he likes to emphasise

Draco

Yea, Gojo’s words to Geto have remained a mystery, but it was revealed by one of the voice actors that it was a 3-word phrase that has been said in the series before. Most people take this to mean that the words are “I love you”

bondbond53

But this means it's only peak from now. Leave it to LM to still have an almost 40 min reaction/discussion to it

Nigatsu

Yes, you are also correct to say he is correct

Maria

Lola and Milena are.... clever!

beannie

I was the one who wrote the comment about gojos last words to geto😭. I commented about it cause you girls didn’t theorize on that in the movie discussion! I’m sorry Milena😭😭if it makes you feel better, I crashed out just like you when I found out we won’t ever know lol🥲 The insight I shared there helps you to create an idea of what the words could’ve been tho

CC

who up being clever

Em ,

I think it’s quite romantic to let Gojo’s last words just be theirs. Both of them were used by society so at the end they got something between them. It’s also ridiculously good shipping fuel especially with Geto’s reaction being a blush and telling Gojo to curse him… in a movie where Yuta had cursed Rika at the end of his life because he loved her and didn’t want to lose her I also forgot Gojo doesn’t tell the curses that this is loser shit in the sub lmao. The wait for the next episodes feels so long already

KotBegemot

Yeah, this episode was kinda meh compared to those surrounding it. And I didn't gel with narrator here unlike with HxH one in Chimera Ants arc. This here felt like parody of it a bit.

Nadeem Shaikh

Y’all are so smart makes your discussion so much more fun to listen to.

blaaade

next episode is so good #needthat

Iwa

Nah honestly, it didn't impact the japanese animation industry, it's always been like this and the conditions are not ready to change, at most it had an impact on the vision that the mainstream watchers have on animation and maybe an impact on how the planning is handled at studio mappa. But it didn't change anything on the bigger scale of things

Iwa

Yay it's cool seeing someone talk about the animation part and dropping names such as Goshozono. It is an important thing to point out, even more in this episode where we start to see the production starting to have trouble maintaining good quality. But it should also be said that the bad conditions of the production there has been during this season, can be seen in SO MANY others animes/studios/production, the big difference was that it was the first time an anime that had such a big fanbase, had people working in it who complained publicly. So mappa did get this image of the abusive studio, when there is doyens of other studios that do the same thing and people don't even realize it, which is kinda sad. So yeah sorry if all of this is kinda messy (english isn't my first language), I'll always appreciate someone else talking about the animation side of anime and you're right to point out the harsh conditions but I just wanted to put emphasis on the side that a lot of animes (that even LM reaction are watching like evangelion) suffer from the same problem and the mainstreams side of the anime community seems to forget it

Brakthir

Oh, for sure. This isn't specific to Mappa, almost every studio, with a few exceptions, have terrible conditions. Mappa was just the biggest name at the time, and the animators were being public about their struggles.

Shivering King Banana

Did they say the next episode will be late because it's usually Friday.

rubberkidney

Is anybody ever truly prepared to shart? I think not.

Shamiran Prater

"I was in love with you my whole life" DING DING DING DING DING !!!!!!! CORRECT ANSWER !!!!!!

Nonam

Oh right, this episode starts to introduce some of the best music in anime

Sammy

Just to make sure, if no one told you. If you currently aren't, please watch the blue ray version of this season. It upped quality, removed annoying filters and most importantly added about five minutes to episode 17.

.Mvnk

i saw a comment on one of the earlier posts that said crunchyroll silently implemented the blu ray episodes onto the site. so it shouldnt be an issue anymore

mingofn

It’s saturday morning for me in the uk but friday on their schedule

Sowin

same xDDD

Very pleased to hear this! Originally just episode 17 was updated to the bluray version, but after checking myself just now it looks like everything was updated.

Carlos

Far and away the weakest episode of this season, maybe even the whole series for me. It's not without it's merit but usually one I skip when seeing reactions to it. Thankfully it's only up from here.

arnobio

only one or two arent updated i think

My Toasty Toast

What’s weird to me is Gojo just stands there and aura-farms while Jogo, Choso, and Hanami just start killing people in front of him. I understand he can’t use his domain but guy literally just stood there and quipped jokes when the curses couldn’t hit him while they were slaughtering innocents.

Carlos

Fields of bountiful aura ain't gonna farm themselves.

Perpy

My two favorite ladies are First Grade reactors!!!

Szaleos

I don’t know how many people mentioned it already but episode 17 has to be the blue ray version. Due to time constraints the episode got rushed and the blue ray is the original intended experience as it adds quite a few extra minutes of animation. Again, the blue ray is a MUST WATCH

Szaleos

So a clarification, they stated in ep 1 or 2 of season 1 that Sukuna’s technique will eventually be engraved in Yuji’s body given time. Issue is our boy has had sukuna for what? 6 months? Not enough time that is for sure

Karabo

I just love when the girls are into a show look at the passion in the discussion

Ganjaman

hearing these ladies get into the finer details of curse techniques gives me life :)

Danic

There’s a theory that the author, Gege, made the last words unknown in order to sneak in doomed yaoi without having the inevitable backlash of actually putting that kind of thing in a shounen manga. Gege is also openly a fan of mangakas who are known for writing BL. This idea makes a lot of the jjk fanboys angry so tread carefully

shane

“theyre already bad enough imagine if they could fly” i have such bad news for you 😆

King Sora

I for one was very interested in them showing yujis increase in skill and power along with introducing mei mei and uiui's relationship(if only they stopped there). Was also crazy to see gojos reaction to people being killed in front of him and how calculated he is at all times
