I have Season 3, then 1, then 2 personally. I think this shows the very best JJK has to offer with all the techniques and the clash of sorcerers of history vs present. And the animation is on another level.

Same. My interest in JJK was dangerously low during most of the Shibuya Arc episodes, so when people told me that I'd probably hate S3 since I didn't like S2, I feared the worst. Luckily, other than the episode that everyone is obsessed with (which didn't do much for me), I can now say that I enjoy JJK again. 🙂

s2 is my favorite and Shibuya was great but it still had more potential and certain scenes and vibes didn't hit as they should have compared to the manga imo though they still did a great job. The animation team needed more time. S3 has been given enough time to make what's in the manga as perfect as possible and elevate it to a higher level.

I like S2 more because of Hidden Inventory Arc alone. Not only it's a good arc by itself,it made my enjoyment of Season 1 better (which was intended, it's supposed to change everything a out Gojo as a character and his motivations) And yeah I also think Shibuya got a bit boring at some point but it was still pretty good. SPOILERS Season 3 was cool but there's just so much fights that I don't really care as much emotionally. Mainly because of one of my problems with JJK: the writer just doesn't give me enough time to care for its characters. I realy appreciate the production level but it's not what I'm looking for (I guess it's obvious when one of my fav arcs is Hidden Inventory Arc). It's definitely more enyojable than Shibuya overall just because again, how good the production is.

Naoya is one of Naobito's sons, who was the previous head of the clan and the one who died. Naobito has 2 brothers: Maki and Mai's father and Toji and Jinichi's father. Jinichi is indeed the big burly guy we saw this episode. This makes Toji and Maki cousins, and Maki Megumi's aunt.

FYI You asked about what "culling" means. To "cull" means to remove from a group, and when it comes to living things that's usually by killing. For example, if you are culling a herd of cows it means you are killing some of them, typically (though not always) those that are somehow inadequate. Maybe those cows are diseased or don't have much meat on them so continuing to care for them would be a waste of resources. You might call the hunger games a culling since it takes a group of people and kills everyone but the strongest.

Naoya and the Zenin clan are fucking disgusting, and you got the family tree that was quickly explained in this ep perfectly. The way Naoya talked about Maki and Mai also feeds into a pretty popular theory in the fandom: that the Zenin clan practices some form of endogamy or even inbreeding, to keep their bloodline and inherited cursed techniques within the “family.” It’s never explicitly confirmed in the story, but there are definitely some details that make the theory feel plausible and like it could be subtle worldbuilding from Gege. There’s also that scene when Mai is introduced back in Season 1, where she blushes while talking to Megumi and listening to his answer about his type🥲. Obviously, that wouldn’t really be Mai’s fault if she grew up with someone like Naoya around.

I wonder if anyone else feels like JJK characters are so much cooler than they have any business being. It just feels like even when the author was making misogynistic pieces of shit like Naoya, he maxed out their cool factor. Other shows don't do that. They'll make characters intentionally lame or weak or just boring, but I feel like JJK really maxes out the cool factor of all their characters.

Now that you've met the glory that is Naoya Zen'in I find it important to let this fun fact be know. Since his introduction in the manga there have been 3 popularity polls and Noaya is always in the top 10 with his rankings being as followed: In his first poll he was 10th (Just above Nobara and Maki who 11th and 12th) In his second poll he was 6th (Just above Nanami who was 7th) In the last poll released near the end of the manga he was 5th (Just above Choso and YUTA who were 6th and 7th) All this to say that the people (for some reason) love Noaya so so much

Just a refresher/fyi. the only three non-curses we have seen use Reversed Cursed Technique with the capability to heal others with are: Sukuna, Shoko (Doctor) and Yuta (in the 0 movie). It is a rare ability.
