Answering a few of the questions you had: The "OA" symbol you're seeing that a lot of Belters have tattooed is the OPA symbol even though there isn't really a P in it. That picture that Alex has is a picture of his ex-wife and son. Contrary to popular belief, humans can generally survive around 30-45 seconds in hard vacuum without suffering too many negative effects, as long as all the oxygen is exhaled from the lungs prior to entering the vacuum. Mateo lifting his visor for a few seconds, while not advisable, wouldn't be all that dangerous. Especially since very little of his skin is actually being exposed. Context for the Diogo and Uncle Mateo scenes: Diogo and his uncle Mateo were mining an asteroid for ore. After the Martian Navy patrol boarded their ship and banned them from passing through the restricted zone, Mateo took his net of rocks and flung them at the Martian ship while they shot a missile at him and blew him up. He threw Diogo out with a transponder on him hoping someone will eventually get him giving him a chance to survive. Diogo is also the same kid that Miller caught stealing Water on Ceres and let go.

There are 2 "Ps" in the OPA symbol, the two halves of the circle with the tails being the sides of the A.

True, but they are nearly impossible to see on small tattoos. Most people wouldn’t notice them even in a larger format, so I felt this was the easiest way to explain it for them.
