Zak

For this one anime I definitely recommend the dub.

ReactorHero

Come on anime family. We all love sub but yah know this Dub version is oscar worthy. Love and Peace.

adam john peters

Literally the only time I will choose dub on this one

person

Perfect timing. I just started watching this so I’d be able to watch your reactions to it

Deathonater5

Honestly ok with either, I've watched them both and both have excellent performances by the voice actors!

Riff Michaels

Easily the best dub in anime history

enchantertim

Of course sub, always sub. HOW is dub leading right now?

Conroy

Please not the dub just so we don’t have to hear “brother!” A thousand times

Marsiv Nayr

Oh, now THIS is a tough one. But I’m not too surprised to see dub winning so far.

Hannah N

dub definitely

Andres Osorio

Let's make this happen Guys & Gals. This is an EXCELLENT Dub!

Isaac

Dub is a pass for me. Original language

food. just food

There are a few sacred anime that must be DUBBED and they are mainly Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood and Cowboy Bebop

Ken Drummer

The voice actors are top notch! Dub for sure! Please let us dubbers have this! To all the subbers every other anime will most likely be sub let us have this. The Dub like one person said on here is oscar worthy!

Aquilifer

Very few anime can I watch dubbed. This is one of the few great ones.

Michael Stollard
>>79882146

Because the dub is in English? A language we all speak, and is just as good as the original Japanese? You don't need to gatekeep anime, it's not necessary

Luna lanes

The main character has Hange’s voice in the sub so it’s weird when you watch Aot and FMA at the same time. The Dub is really good for once

Khary Williams

I watched it dubbed, but I still can't ever recommend a dub just on general principle.

ajoenpolvo

really hate the dub voices, I can't with english dub voices, what a lack of emotion they often display

Dammy Oshikoya

You know they should watch the first ep in dub and then the second ep in sub and see which one they prefer

Shelby Baumann

Honestly, I personally feel like all forms of art media should he watched in there original format. Can you imagine people convincing you that Breaking Bad is better with Spanish dub? Not to mention the main character in fullmetal is voiced by Hange from AoT’s voice actor and she kills it. The old man doing a super looney tunes voice for Ed is just cringe.

DrLAING

Dub all the way

Leno

I'm just happy they're gonna start watching FMAB. An anime so close to my heart

Robert H.

The war begins. Fight!

Maia Brodsky

I like the dub better in the original FMA. Brotherhood uses a lot of the same VAs, but they replaced one of the two MCs with a VA I can't stand it that role. Also the other MC is Hange's VA in Japanese. That's why I voted for sub.

A.C

Tbh if it’s dub it’s an unsubscribe for me. FMA:B is my favorite anime ever, the VA is flawless. I’m not American and I really don’t get why dubbed anime is a thing in the US. Any other place in the world it’s considered a crime lol

Zekrom XI

Also, fuck all these sub elitists, gatekeeping the show!

Markub El Jaden

Usually I'm Dub's #1 hater, but some of ya'll in the comments are so misinformed, FMA:B dub isn't like any other anime dub and most people who actually watched it probably like it more than the sub.

KP

Dub in this show is absolutely amazing!!!

A.C
>>79882901

It’s not a question of being elitist. You’re American probably. Any other country dubbed anime makes no sense. I bet they have members here that are not from the US. Elitist is being American and want to change the original VA to your country language.

TeaDrinker3000
>>79882840

Find another Patron channel to bother. You contribute nothing to these discussions other than attention-seeking nonsense.

Freak

I dont mind but, in the subs, Hange (AoT) and Light Yagami (Death Note) voice actors are in it. Could be more fun for you.

Conroy
>>79882171

because that is a thing you expect to hear in Japanese. No English speaker goes around calling their brother "Brother!" all the time. It's the same as hearing "-san" vs Mr. or Mrs. when those don't make sense in English

KP
>>79882146

Because Dub in this show is amazing. You could make a case its the best dubbed anime in history.

A.C
>>79882901

Sure, even in my country but for kids to watch in the TV.

J.J

Always sub with anime, so much better with expressing emotion. But I'm against dubs in general, anime or regular movies.

sand_fl

long time no see i miss the 9€ tier level but it's only for this month that i'm abroad i hope sub wins but i'll be happy too if dub wins because i know there's lot of people that wanted you to react to the dub anyway, either way i hope you've enjoyed the death note finale and you like the fmab pilot. see you in a couple weeks.

Raziel_BBT

I voted for sub, but whatever, both are great. Although I must admit that for non-Japanese speakers (like me), the jokes and gags are funnier in the English dub, because they didn't just translate, they localized the dialogue with minor adaptations

Zekrom XI
>>79882882

There are dubs all over the world. Not just in America and they all aren’t just in English. You sound so ignorant. Dubs are meant for those who like to watch shows in their own native language. Not everyone wants to read while watching something, and some people may have a disability that doesn’t let them read. All you’re doing is gatekeeping.

KP
>>79882882

Imaging threatening to unsubscribe because they might choose a dub version over another of your favorite anime. I'm sorry, but that's pathetic.... Not to mention the dub version of this show had incredibly good voice acting.

Anthony Roberto Flores

People who opt for subs because it "preserves the original intent" forget that people consume media to enjoy it, not as an intellectual exercise. Thinking subs preserve the original intent is also cope. Not only are you reading an altered *translation* but you are watching with your cultural context, not that of a Japanese upbringing. You will never experience the original intent, and that's okay! Just enjoy the dubs when the English actors are better (like this show) and the subs when the Japanese actors are better (e.g., Attack on Titan and most animes honestly).

Conroy
>>79883398

oh ok convo is over everyone. this guy has the objective factual knowledge that the English actors are better for this show.

TeaDrinker3000

Best of both worlds with me coz I can just watch the subbed, then re-watch the dubbed episode along with you guys 💁

Robert H.

With Death Note I was clearly in favour of the sub, although I always watch the two final episodes in the dub, but with FMA the dub should clearly be chosen. I even just took the trouble to look at YouTube and, with the exception of FilmBuff, every reacter was watching the dub. And FilmBuff has only watched the first 5 episodes so far and is currently pausing the show so as not to overwork himself. I can imagine that he will change to the Dub. For example, GoodwinTV switched to dub after two episodes. In the end, I have one more idea for you: Watch the first two episodes as the winner here in this poll and then just watch the two episodes again as a rewatch in the other variant. Then you can still decide which you liked better.

A.C
>>79882882

So what’s the point of doing a dub in a channel with people from all over the world? If you weren’t American I would take you serious but you just want to watch it in your native language and ignore the others.

enchantertim
>>79882146

What gatekeeping you're talking about? lol. Just stating my opinion that sub is better

VashTheHumanStampede

This is one of those cases where they got really amazing dub 🙃

Andres

Both sub and dub are great because the story is amazing. A beautiful tale of love, friendship, sacrifice, and what it means to be human. Ms. Arakawa crafted something special with this one, and I hope they enjoy. Also, a plus that it has the two best boys in all of anime.

Shelby Baumann
>>79883398

But it’s not about context. It’s about the emotion put into certain scenes and how the VA are coached by the directors and creators of the show. So LM couldn’t understand the “full context” of Connie’s scream in the most recent AoT episode because they didn’t grow up in Japan? They didn’t feel the intensity of Eren’s scream at the end of season two when Hannes dies? Voice acting is about more than just reading off lines.

A.C
>>79883398

Lol you’re being so selfish of course you’re American and think that your language is better than the others. This is a worldwide channel pal.

Revan

Actually hearing a language you can understand adds so much to the emotional impact the lines have, it's just that normally the VA is just so much better in the sub than in the dub. However, FMA:B has to be the most famous example of it actually being the other way around, the English VA's did a tremendous job on this one. Really hope they go dub.

Calvin Delaney

The Dub Is legendary, like so so good

A.C
>>79883928

This is selfish. This is a worldwide channel, it’s not for Americans only.

Zekrom XI
>>79883398

A.C Dude, idk what your native language is, but you’re clearly out here thinking the Japanese language is superior to all others. What a hypocrite.

Anthony Roberto Flores
>>79883398

Reply to A.C.: If anything I'm the only internationalist here! I'm arguing that anyone from anywhere in the world can make a better dub than the original :). I also said I watch subs when the Japanese actors are better (e.g, AoT, and most animes honestly).

Revan
>>79883928

Since when do only Americans understand English? I'm Dutch myself lol, doesn't change anything about what I said. There's a lot more people that understand English than there are that understand Japanese lol, so if sometimes the dub is on the same level as (or like here even above) the sub it's a no-brainer to go for the dub. It's just rare to find anime that have a dub that comes close to the sub.

Zekrom XI
>>79883928

A.C You’re right, it’s not Americans only, but the majority of their fanbase speaks English, and the majority of the people voting WANT English dub, so that’s just the way it’s going to be. Stop whining under ever comment and just accept the results.

Sebastiano Barreca
>>79883706

Reactors switch to dub because people start bitching about it in the comments if the reactors dare to choose sub. They don’t event talk about the episodes they just complain about the subs. And FilmBuff ain’t switching to dub I assure you.

Anthony Roberto Flores
>>79883398

Reply to Shelby: Thanks for the response. I agree Voice Acting is incredibly important even if you don't speak the language! My point exactly was that "preserving original intent/context" is a bad argument because its not necessary! The quality of the voice acting and your enjoyment is all that matters. :)

JT

Ooh its close for now

Jason Parker

I think that FMA:B has the best English dub of any Anime ever made. This is the one and only time you should watch the dub version of a show. The VAs did an absolutely stellar job!

Sebastian

fyi the main character’s japanese voice actor is also the same as hange’s so if that might be weird for you maybe choose the dub. ultimately i still prefer the sub but the dub is respectable imo

Zekrom XI
>>79882901

This dude A.C actually thinks every language in the world other than Japanese is for “kids.”

Robert H.
>>79883706

Actually, all reacters started with the dub, only GoodwinTV and FilmBuff started the series with the sub. Moreover, GoodwinTV had already decided to switch to the dub before the release of the first two episodes on Patreon. As far as I know, he lives in South Korea and probably had difficulties getting the English dub so quickly. Anyway: I haven't seen any reacters with dub fans bitching about it.

michaa

ahh shit here we go again..

ReactorHero
>>79883706

but the thing is that it is always sub lol. this is the only anime where the dialogue in dub actually matches the Japanese version.

Allison Cornell

Literally i am someone that is 98% a sub watcher, but It is not because I hate dubs, but only that I have almost NEVER found a dub to be BETTER than the Sub. So why would I watch something worse, you know? Plus dub has some translation issues, and dub voice actors are 95% of the time terrible. Dub died around 2010. Now we have 16 year olds sounding like 30 year olds...BUT Basically my point is, I literally will watch whatever the show is best in, it just so happens to be that its almost always sub.. But, that is not the case with FMAB. Genuinely from the bottom of my heart one of, if not the best dub out there. Fmab, baccano, and cowboy bebop are the only shows I can genuinely say the dub is FAR better than the sub. Fmab dub is literally more in tune with what the mangaka wanted. Apparently, she prefers it herself. Its not everyday you can watch a dub this good. Youd be honestly missing out if you didnt watch it dubbed.

ReactorHero
>>79883928

did you read what A.C. wrote..lmao he or she basically thinks only "americans" understand English.. yikes

Daolord Badlands

The dub is really good on thos one. I've seen it in both, and the dub wins out on this one for me.

Boooomzz

Ok, here are my two cents. I watched both versions. Both are great. And if both are great, I'd go with the original material which is subbed. There are some scenes imo where the Japanese voice actors are better than their American counterpart.

Gonzalo

watching anime dubbed should be a crime. We are not in the 80-90s when there was no option.

ReactorHero

looks like sub is gonna win. not enough dub supports here. unfortunate really. This the only anime i ever watched Dubbed and it was AMAZING.

Zekrom XI

Gonna be honest here, idc what language y’all watch it in, but after AoT ends I’m unsubscribing. I’m not sticking around to watch FMAB. That show is too overrated and people only watch it because it’s “popular.”

Sebastiano Barreca

Japanese VA’s Romi Park is a legend and by far my favourite Edward. People will have different takes on the sub-dub debate for FMAB and for me it’s fine either way, but I really like sub more. It just throws me off when people pretend the sub is objectively inferior, which it isn’t in the slightest. Well, dub is still probably gonna win so it is what it is.

Isaiah Cox

Pls I am begging y’all let dub take this win

Norrin Radd

They’re both dubs. We just prefer the english dub because it’s the language we understand, and imo the voice acting is better. Include the subtitles for non-English speakers if you like.

Ricco Annen

was looking forward to their reaction for this one but I don't think I can stomach watching it with dubs. I watch everything in original when possible so it'll be hard to adjust for me

Robert H.

Somehow, like the Attack on Titan Season 4 opening, I just hope we get a tie, simply because it would be funny to me. :D

Merfhew

Serbian dub with French subtitles.

Camzeee

I've never seen this show so I guess I'll follow along with whatever is chosen but I really do favor subs for foreign language shows. How many people have actually watched both? I imagine a lot of people are just yelling about the one they have seen instead of being able to genuinely compare.

vold

Sub is better.

Robert H.
>>79885530

Because I would be interested in that now: Have you already watched a reaction on YouTube from FMA? I'm searching through everything and with the exception of FilmBuff, they're all dub.

Ricco Annen
>>79882901

what the fuck does preferring a piece of media in its original language have to do with gatekeeping? lol

Raziel_BBT
>>79885147

Yeah. People say that one or the other are objectively better, with is false. They are both great and ultimately comes down to personal preference

Griff
>>79885530

The Dub is incredible for FMAB. I am a sub guy also most of the time, but the Dub here is amazing, they also reanimated the mouths to match english too.

Marcelo

I hope dub wins. There aren't a ton of anime with good dub

Ricco Annen
>>79885530

most if not all are dubbed. I've seen both and vastly prefer the original

Robert H.
>>79885812

Hey French neighbour! Can we agree on Luxembourgish? Then we have the hybrid of German and French :D

Mario Robledo

This is one of my favorite series of all time. I've watched it both in sub and dub multiple times. Honestly, it doesn't matter which one wins the poll because they are both S tier stuff. The story is just as emotive, funny, sad, hype, etc and the characters are voiced by an insanely talented cast in both versions. Let's just enjoy the series. In the end the language is seriously a nonissue.

Boooomzz

Not gonna bet on it, but I believe 80% of the people who voted dub have never seen a single episode in sub. But whatever, I have to respect the result of the poll I guess.

Irene smilekg

As a non (native) english speaker I always prefer sub, especially in fmab. I think that most people recommending dub are native eng speakers.

Ron

Dub and watch L funeral

Robert H.
>>79885826

I have seen the full show in ger dub, eng dub and jap dub and prefer eng dub.

Ricco Annen
>>79883398

if I'm watching a spanish movie, I'll watch it in spanish. If I watch a korean drama I'll watch it in korean. It has nothing to do with elitism, cultural or language supremacy or anything else. It's just about wanting to watch something in its original language, idk what's so hard to understand about it

KP
>>79882882

The girls both speak very good English and with how great the dub is for this show they would love it. Which is why people are voting for dub.

Norrin Radd
>>79882882

You really need to get your emotions under control. You’re throwing a tantrum like an infant. It’s disgusting to threaten them with an ultimatum (while calling everyone else selfish). If you’re not mature enough to allow them to make their own decision then go harass someone else.

Sebastiano Barreca
>>79883706

Robert H., personally I’m fine with both, both are great. And since that’s the case I prefer sub because it’s the original. Also if I was a reactor I couldn’t care less if the majority picks dub, but I get it it’s more popular (and will probably win this pool).

Raziel_BBT
>>79885826

I've seen Japanese, English and Brazilian Portuguese. They are all great, but I prefer the original

Robert H.
>>79883706

I completely agree with you that both variants are very good. But I also felt that the humour came through better in the English version.

DrLAING

Guys please vote Dub 🙏🙏

Anthony Roberto Flores
>>79883398

@Ricco Annen: Thanks for the response. If you prefer the original language arbitrarily, based on your feelings, that's fine with me and you aren't the target of my post. I was taking issue with people who believe it is objectively better b/c it "preserve original intent/context."

Robert H.
>>79886237

Not really. Most people here speak a wide variety of languages. I've already read Portuguese, German, French, Spanish and Arabic in the comments here. Admittedly, I would be interested to know how big the American audience is. That should be visible in their YouTube Analytics.

Seth
>>79885530

You have a serious personal problem if you have trouble watching a show in English, especially knowing the voice acting isn’t bad

Seth
>>79886238

They needa watch the funeral in dub, it’s the best scene in the dub

Sebastiano Barreca
>>79883706

Lmaoo it’s the exact opposite for me, I always thought the jokes felt forced and unnatural in the dub, it really comes down to personal preference in the end. But yeah, I’m fine with whatever wins, and people should chill a bit

berketozlu

It's dub is actually good

Nathan Elkin

I choose sub because 9/10 times there is simply more range for talent when viewed in the original language. However! When a show goes out of its way to focus on a dub with the same enthusiasm and raw energy that English cartoons or animations bring, I’ll consider it. And then there are shows like this and cowboy bebop and space dandy that are simply meant to be watched dub because it was part of the vision when making the show. FMA was originally Japanese, yes, but the content in the show feels more relatable with an English attitude…at least, that’s my two cents

A.C
>>79884840

Source for Arakawa saying that she prefer the dub?

KP

FMAB might have the best dub of any anime ever! Its literally that great to watch in DUB!

Steven Jeanrolus

I only watched the original Full Metal Alchemist and the dub was very good, not sure about Brotherhood bc I only watched the subbed.

Ken Drummer

Yes please the dub is the best in anime. Sub voters out there please give us Dub voters this one anime. I’m sure every anime the girls react to in the future will be sub so please just give us this one dub. I’ve seen so many comments that this anime is the best dub in anime ever let the girls experience a good dub for this one time. Please. 🤞

KP
>>79889118

Its even better, the voices in dub for FMAB is GOAT tier. Best dub of any anime in history.

KP
>>79886237

Wrong I watch anime in dub mainly, but the dub is so great in FMAB. Its literally known to being one of the best shonen dubs of all time because of how great the voice acting is.

KP
>>79886200

What an ignorant statement, I love sub shows, but FMAB is a different breed when it comes to Dub. Theres a reason its considered one of the best dubbed anime in history.

KP
>>79885826

seen both and both are good, but Dub is just top tier

ODIS
>>79887782

Unlike voting for a president though, where you hear both candidates, here most people usually only know one of the two. So, they vote based on what they're already familiar with, even if it's inferior. I personally have seen both though, and this may be the only anime where I prefer dub.

KP
>>79885530

Dub is literally incredible in FMAB. If you cant stomach the greatness of this show dub then you clearly dislike all dub and should just say that instead.

Ethan R

Dub, just to anger the weebs :)

KP
>>79885037

FMAB is considered one of the best dubbed shows in history of anime and theres a reason its leading the poles. I usually watch sub, but this show is far an away the outlier

Raziel_BBT

I only see bitching comments hating the dubs. The dub gang seems more respectful. Just because of that I'm changing my vote for dub

ODIS
>>79889978

Let's not do that. There's absolutely no reason to make it "US vs THEM" nonsense. We like what we like. I personally have watched FMAB in both languages, and prefer dub. But I prefer sub for all other shows. Many may feel the same here, and has nothing to with weebs or whatever.

KP
>>79890201

Yeah what I noticed most of the Dub people are like "hell yeah Dub is great and one of the best dubs in shonen history' , while sub people are attacking and insulting people and threatening to unsubscribe. I watch like 80% of my anime in sub, but some of these comments from sub people are embarrassing. Dub is goated in this show and thats just a fact.

HenryM

Oh man it's an all out war in the comments

Cablemonkey

This is pretty much the only anime I prefer in dub (and I’ve watched way too much anime). Well, maybe laputa too just for mark hamill’s performance.

Sosa

they're watching brotherhood right?

Xablau

i am creating more accounts and voting for DUB all the way baby

Merfhew

I've honestly never understood the literal hostility that sub vs. dub creates in the anime community. We all have our own preferences, but I've never felt so strongly about mine that I thought it necessary to belittle other fans for disagreeing. Not only that, but broad statements like "dubs always suck" are super disrespectful to the voice actors. I wish the topic didn't cause so much toxicity.

Kevin

dub is so good

ODIS
>>79892577

Indeed. There's no need. Besides, all shows have been SUB so far. What's the big deal if one is chosen as DUB? Especially when it's good quality dub.

Merfhew
>>79892577

Continued: If you have a strong opinion about which language FMAB should be watched in, I'm guessing you've already watched. No matter how this poll turns out, don't bitch and moan and try to ruin the experience for L & M just because you didn't get your way.

Gonzalo
>>79885037

Dubbing is always a bad choice. There's simple no excuse to not watch the art in the format preferred by the creators. It is like watching Studio Ghibli movies dubbed. Literally, a crime.

Merfhew
>>79892577

I voted for subbed, because every reaction channel that I've followed has picked the English dub. Hoping to switch things up, but I'm cool with it either way. My first watch through was sub, then I read the manga, and turn I watched the dub. All great experiences.

Ekubochan

its sub and its not even close

Luis

Well one of the main voice actors in the English dub is a known sexual predator with a large record of abuses. So sub for me! Vic Mignogna who does Edward btw.

ODIS
>>79893530

I think the whole work is much bigger than one single voice actor. While he may be part of the dub, so are many other people that worked hard on it to make it as special as it has become. They outnumber him. Personally, I can also separate the craft from the person. I can say someone's talent is amazing, even if the person themselves does morally bad things. But that's just me.

Brandon Rodriguez

I respectfully disagree I understand with Vic but got to pay respects to Ed Baylock who passed away amazing dub voice acting by the king.

ODIS
>>79892577

By your logic of "switching things up", wouldn't it make sense for you to vote DUB because LM has only been watching subbed anime so far?

Anggelo Consiglieri

Both are amazing works. I personally prefer the sub, but I am also Ok with the dub version.

ODIS
>>79892577

Well, LM watching DUB = LM switching things up, because they've only watched SUBBED animes so far. But you say that you wanna switch things up and that's why you voted SUB.

TY

I voted for dub, but both dub and sub are great at least for the Brotherhood.

ODIS
>>79886237

Please don't generalize. My native language is Russian, AND I speak Japanese. But for FMAB, I still prefer DUB. So, it varies from person to person.

Merfhew
>>79892577

Apologies if I was unclear. They'll enjoy the journey either way, so at the end of the day, I don't think it matters whether they watch the sub or dub. I've watched the dub more times than I've watched the sub, so for the poll, I voted sub. That's what I meant by switching it up.

ODIS
>>79882171

Yeah, but the translation in the subtitle would still say "brother!" so it conveys exactly the same thing.

ReactorHero

i wish you two react to "All of us are dead"

mila

lets gooooooo "my children" intensifies

JT
>>79890201

@BBT Just be honest your original vote was dub anyway 🤣🤣

ODIS
>>79882523

What do principles have to do with it? You watch what you consider is of better quality. Simple as that.

ODIS
>>79882532

have you actually watched FMAB dub to be saying this? You think the commenters here are all stupid when they specifically say that THIS is the only show where the dub is amazing? Even the ones who usually watch sub... like myself.

Jay

Full metal alchemist brotherhood dub baby !!

dasdasdasdas dasdasdas

I think the dub being better is just native english speakers saying it is, because that's just what they saw first and are familiar with. I don't think I've ever spoken to anyone who isn't a native english speaker and actually prefers the english dub. Because why would they? If I were you, I'd just watch the first episode in english and then in japanese, and then decide which one you prefer.

maurizio piras

Please no dub.Respect the original version and watching it sub.PLEASEEEE!!!!

Xenoprism

I don't have a preference one way or another--the actors in each case give phenomenal performances. However, I say dub so that you two can watch the dub actors' blooper reel after watching the entire series :v

ODIS
>>79902825

Watching sub or dub has nothing to do with respect. The people who created the dub showed a lot of respect toward this anime and that's why it's such high quality dub. By your logic, to dismiss their hard work is in itself disrespectful. People should watch what they prefer. End of story.

Ricco Annen
>>79885530

I did say that? My native language is German and I dislike German dubs too, I just dislike them generally. It has nothing to do with disliking English either

I watched the show multiple times in the dubbed and subbed version and both do a fantastic job. Try to be a little bit more open-minded towards the dub and you'll see how good of a job they did on this Anime.

Epsilox

I usually err on the side of sub in anime, but the dub in FMA are really fantastic in my opinion.

Merlino

If you do dub i can’t follow your reaction cause i can’t sincro the episode with my device with sub in my language. For most of us is better the original versión with own sub

Boooomzz

Dub is so cringe imo

Oz-11

Probably the only anime where Dub is much better

KP
>>79885037

No point in trying to even have reasonable discussion with you, you’re clearly an always sub cultist and yes calling an amazing dub a crime makes you a straight up pathetic cultist. Seek help.

KP
>>79893373

It’s dub and it’s not even close, hence why it’s leading in the poll you fool

Georgie Acero
>>79906970

it's not... objectively you have to admit that it sounds childish and the voice acting will just not fit it properly. I have tried time and time again and it never delivers the way the japanese version does.

Gonzalo
>>79885037

I preferred sub in everything, except movies or series that are original of my language (spanish). They are a lot of things that can be lost in dub, specially from a language so different and complex like Japanese.

KP
>>79893530

Oh fuck off…Luis, people like are are absolute cancer

KP
>>79902825

Respect people’s opinions dummy there’s a reason this is a poll, dub is amazing for this anime and it’s why it’s leading the polls.

KP
>>79905928

Your comment is cringe weeb. Dub is leading the pulls and your butthurt, get over it loser,

KP
>>79906970

Holy shit your stupid. FMAB is literally regarded as one of the best dubbed shonen anime in history for a reason, hence why it’s leading in the poles. English voice acting is God tier. Just grow some balls and say I personally don’t like dub in anime, because saying FMAB dub is not fit and childishness just makes you sound like an absolute moron

Captain Thistle
>>79891870

You told me I couldn't kill you. I'd like to try to prove you wrong!! So let's see, how many accounts it's gonna take 😁

KP
>>79882146

You said “How is dub leading?” The fact that you don’t realize why it’s leading just makes you sound kinda dumb. Not sure if you watched this anime before but the dub is god tier in terms of dub anime and which is why it’s leading the poles.

KP
>>79883928

@ A.C You are so stupid I’m surprised you were able to even log into patreon. First of all English is not just spoken my Americans you dumbass and second how is Japanese subtitles more worldwide then English? Ugh people like you should be banned for their stupidity.

Boooomzz
>>79906970

Why are so bitter in your replies? I've said that it is cringe imo and nothing is gonna change that. I did not force you to like the subbed version of FMAB, so try to be civilized and accept other people's opinions.

KP
>>79906970

@ Boooomzz Because your comment is literally cancer. “Omg cringe dub” dude you sound like a 12 year old awkward youtuber. there’s a reason dub is leading the poles. Your just in the minority weeb. Dub is god tier in FMAB. Calling it “cringe” makes you look like dumbass

Boooomzz
>>79906970

Again, you are repeating the same shit all over again. You are entitled to your opinion as I am to mine. I've seen both versions and the voice actors for the dubbed version are subjectively cringe. It's okay if you think the dub is better (I think you must be retarded to think so, but I respect your opinion) and the dub is prob gonna win the polls (or poles as you indicated) and it's ok life goes on. I was just surprised by your angry bitter response; you need to chill.

laurenetta

Dub and sub are both very good, however there have been some questionable allegations against the VA for the main character in Dub, nothing confirmed as far as I’m aware but it’s up to you!

Boooomzz

lol, ok now I understand; you keep going on other people's comments to harass them. Get a life bro.

ODIS
>>79902321

Hello. Nice to meet you. My native language is Russian, AND I also speak Japanese. I still prefer dub specifically for FMAB (although the sub is fine too.) So please don't generalize. Many here who usually watch SUB are saying they prefer DUB for Full Metal, so it has nothing to do with our native language.

Boooomzz
>>79922846

I've never seen someone so bitter in my life in regard to anime lol. Dude needs help.

Luna lanes
>>79902321

I'm not a native english speaker and my english is not the best and I still like the dub better. Since japanese and english are not my language, I only judge of the sound of it and it's subjective. I always prefer sub except for FMAB. I think I would think it's cringe if I was english because dub in our own language is always a bit cringe. Since I'm neither japanese or english, I don't care for this one

ReactorHero

At this point @LMReactions. can we get a verdict. the comment sections is getting ugly and if this aint for counts and statistics.. i don't see the point in waiting anymore.

Mohammed Al Jamal
>>79905928

@KP didn't you just say earlier to respect people's opinions? Well @maurizio's opinion is that dub is awful and cringe. Respect it or GTFO!

Mohammed Al Jamal

I heard many times that alot of ppl find the dub versions of Death Note and FMAB better than the sub, but are those the only cases in the dub world? Is there any other show where ppl prefer dub?

Allison Cornell

I went to sleep, the thread was normal, I wake up...and its fucking chaos? What the fuck? This got really weird really quick. Got some people making this about nationality, and making some weird fucking claims. Then you got someone going off on almost every reply that doesnt align with them. Throwing accusations like native speakers this and that, and gatekeeping, and somehow making this about principle?... You guys... its a fucking poll for an anime? Relax.. why are we making this weird. Im just like..hey I usually love subs because I think theyre better for reasons of translation and dub voice acting is iffy as hell to me, but fmab has a very rare case where the dub is excellent, okay awesome. How the hell did we descend into nationalism arguments, downtalking anyone who disagrees with you, claims of gatekeeping and saying weird shit like "this is only because youre american?" Come on guys. This is real weird fucking energy. If you dont like what someone says...move on, maybe? Lmfao pretty sure we're all better than being this petty. On both sides. Either way, they're gonna watch what they want. It would be nice if they tried both somehow to see what they prefer. Id be so cool with that. Love these girls. Lets not be toxic on their shit.

Allison Cornell
>>79928122

Just answering for fun :) but while I like Death note better sub, I definitely have some where I like the dub better, but its super super super rare for me personally. I think cowboy bebop is amazing dubbed, baccano (a show that flies under the radar so much and its so sad because its so good. So underrated.) but baccano makes so much sense since its set in old school new york pretty much with mobsters so the new york accents the dub had were just preeeeeeem, plus it was filled with new york culture and references so it just sounded like smoother to me. I almost feel like thats it for me...hm..hard to say. Its really subjective. Totally a person to person thing

Mohammed Al Jamal
>>79928122

Interesting! I think we are on the same page here! It's always sub for me unless dub makes more sense in a way.

Freak

I just wish they decide for themselves. Only want them to enjoy the show lol. If it's subs, great. If it's dubs, also great.

ODIS
>>79885037

Unless you speak Japanese, saying that "a lot will be lost in dub" makes zero sense. You're still reading a translation in English.

Patrick

It really isn’t a good look for Anime fans when there is a full on war in the comments every single time this comes up.

ODIS
>>79885037

For example, the characters may say "omae", "temee", "kisama", "anata", or "kimi". But in the subtitles, you will still read "you". So, it'll still be lost in translation for you, whether you watch sub or dub. The only way to pick up on all the little details is to speak Japanese.

Mannygogou

lol the comments section. The poll is only up 1 day, it needs over 1,000 votes.

Francesco Balducci

A positive aspect of the dub is that you will be less focused on reading the subtitles, and you can enjoy the animation which is very good, as good as Korra for me.

Andrew

God, I love this comment section. Can't wait for the next anime poll. :D

Mannygogou

I have a funny idea - have LM watch what they prefer - then in the full reaction make 2 versions, 1 dubbed with English actors and the other in the original Japanese language. LM does not divulge which version they watched. Before editing, the 2nd audio is added so both audio versions are in the video file - then begin editing, at the end select audio1 and render, then have to switch to audio2 and render to create the 2nd video. It could work! **So far only a small fraction have voted, typical vote totals should be 1,200+

Robert H.
>>79940723

Oh yeah, that'll be fun. Demon Slayer fans and anime fans who want to give them a fun show like Haikyuu or Ousama Ranking will be bitching at each other. :D

Andrew
>>79941173

I love the idea, but that would be to much work, just to fuck with the viewers.

Mannygogou
>>79941173

you can see that LM are always being pressured. If the only added work is rendering the final video twice it could be worth it. The reason there is a poll is so that they can be get some relief from all the toxicity. Maybe they should sit it out for a few days, let this run its course.

Spuggy Bear

I’m kinda shook the voting is this close, I thought the dub was a for sure thing 😂

ReactorHero

Bout to turn notifications off. This shit too much..lol

Isaac

I didn't think it would be this close. Glad people are getting their voice out.

Shelby Baumann
>>79906970

KP that’s some real toxic, childish energy you got going on. You sound like a child throwing a tantrum in a store because people don’t agree with you. Honestly how pathetic. I mean I agree that dub is cringe but you don’t see me commenting on every comment about how they are wrong for their opinion. And stop using weeb like it’s some racial slur that you’re proud of. It’s gross.

Marcelo

Yeah this poll is super close. Ppl really need to chill out tho. It's just an anime. Stop trying to convince ppl their opinion is wrong.

Shelby Baumann
>>79893373

Dude KP is like the most toxic person in the comment thread. Calling everyone who doesn’t agree with them idiots or cancer and commenting on like every post of people who support sub. I’m pretty sure they are an incel. And I would also wager an American. Definitely not someone who could really even understand the complexity behind FMAB

Shelby Baumann
>>79888625

Wow a comment where you aren’t calling people cancer for having different opinions from you. People who can’t respect the opinions of others and result to insulting them personally are the real cancer.

Shelby Baumann
>>79883928

@KP and people like you should be banned for their toxicity. Why do feel the need to insult people personally? Also everyone knows English isn’t just spoken in American. I mean it’s literally in the name. So comments like this just make you look like the idiot.

Shelby Baumann
>>79885305

It’s not really the same. The original is made the alongside the directors and creators of the show and they help them and coach them in the way they want it to sound. Dub is created separately after the fact. It’s animated and written to sound a certain way. Dub is just whatever the dub studio thinks is best and not the og creators. I am only trying to inform you of the difference and not insult your personal preference or anything like that. To each is own. People are getting way too toxic in these comments

Ken Drummer

I think though since the girls aren’t used to dub and this is the best dub in anime it’s good for them to experience it. I’m sure every other anime they watch will be sub. Let’s change it up for this one time and give us dubbers a win.

Ken Drummer
>>79905928

Not this time it isn’t awful and cringe. FMAB is the best dub in anime. If you want the worst dub in history it’s not an anime but a show watch squid game in dub I couldn’t stop laughing! 😂

Norrin Radd
>>79885305

I get what you’re saying but I’m just talking about the finished product. All VAs get direction, it’s not fanmade, and we don’t know the behind the scenes production info either. They brought in serious talents for the English dub so we know it was well-done. At the end of the day it’s just two different dubs, and there’s no “right” one to enjoy.

Raziel_BBT

is the war still going?

Andres

Never thought I'd see such a severe battle of sub vs dub, a bit embarrassing that it still happens.

S Danny

I hope you're watching the original and not brotherhood

S Danny
>>79958598

yeah, I know lol overall brotherhood is the better show, but the the highs of FMA are much better than the highs of Brotherhood

A

I hope you watch My Hero Academia after FMA.

Raziel_BBT
>>79958598

tbh, the beginning of the original show is better than the beginning of brotherhood. Since at this point they are still the "same" story, it's a valid comparison. The original took time to develop the beginning of the story as the brotherhood was speedrunning. Also the soundtrack "Bratja" that is the best of both shows. These points aside, brotherhood is better in almost everything

まっこう

I'm Japanese. I watched this anime many times in sub and dub. And I am always surprised that the voices of the main characters are similar. The quality of both sub and dub is so high. (^-^)

Stef

OK but consider the following In the Japanese version, the main character is voice by Hanje's voice actor from AOT

TeaDrinker3000

おはよう、まっこうさん。私は日本語の勉強します。はじめまして😊

ODIS
>>79979118

Not sure how that's important. As long as the voice acting is good is all that matters. And dub has great VA for this anime.

Marcelo

When does the poll close?

Allison Cornell
>>79958598

But normal fma isnt canon. They actually had to makeup entire parts due to being caught up with the manga. Fma is still good though in its own right, buuut Brotherhood is canon though, and the largely accepted version. If they did fma I worry viewers would feel alienated, especially youtube only-ers

Allison Cornell
>>79962432

Oh yeah! They dont need to read it though. That special moment actually got animated. Its on youtube! Its legit too. 👌 like came out years later as a special thing to celebrate i believe. If we're talking about the special 'after' moment. But honestly if they want to just watch that on their own too its cool, these girls tend to be super busy from what i noticed lol

Maia Brodsky
>>79883398

I really think the Japanese VAs are much better, ESPECIALLY Alphonse. I never watch any dub reactions, simply because I really can't stand his English VA in that role. And do you really think Vic is more talented than Romi Park? Honest question.

JoloPolo
>>79979118

I don't know why they like the main male characters of the shonens have female voices, but it irritates me. Naruto, Luffy, Goku, Edward, etc.. I mean, no

Same. Loved the show exciting and it does draw you in. Nothing like a 10/10 but definitely worth reacting to.

Delmoi (忍者神)

Delmoi (忍者神)

I watched this in VLC where I can switch between sub and dub, so often times for interesting scenes I'll flip the language and rewatch it. I guess the dub was OK, but not that special tbh. Other dubs like Kaguya Sama/Love is War I'll watch in both English and Japanese, the dub is hilarious but the original Japanese is also hilarious. Point is, you guy should watch Kaguya Sama/Love is War.

Melkor

Melkor
>>79949664

I agree hopefully enough sub people can be kind and grant our request.

Merfhew
>>79958598

It's not really a matter of canon. The animes are two different stories, based on the same source material, with different goals in mind. The first adaptation of Fullmetal Alchemist was always intended to be its own story, with its own ending, because the manga was ongoing. The story is more or less the same up to a certain point, but there are differences as early as the first few episodes. The second adaptation (known outside of Japan as Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood) was intended to be a faithful adaptation (minus the first episode). It's a shame that they couldn't adapt everything, but I can understand why they'd rush through the content that was animated in the original. The final manga chapter and final anime episode were intentionally released on the same week. Both versions have the author's blessing.

Tyler Dub

Plus if they watch it in Dub, they could possibly react to the bloopers of the show. Its incredibly funny for anyone who hasnt seen it, its called "FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Bloopers" on yt. I bet they would love to watch it after they finish the show.

Raziel_BBT

Did they say when the first episode is going to be released?

Joe Tucker
>>79957242

My main problems with the subs with FMAB isn't that the japanese voice acting isn't good, because it's great. The actual subtitles in every translation I've seen are just way clumsy. The actual dialogue in the dub flowing and generally making sense for an English-speaking audience puts it ahead of the sub for me.

Isaac

so cloooose

Ken Drummer
>>79906970

Give dub a try with this anime it’s the best. I don’t think you watched FMAB in dub you probably watched it in sub because you like sub better. Nothing wrong with that but you haven’t even given dub a chance with this anime.

Ken Drummer

Please sub people let us watch this one anime in dub I’m sure every anime in the future will be sub we just want one dub especially since it’s the best dub in anime which is why the poll is so close. Please just give us one dub.

Norrin Radd
>>79882545

Live action and cartoons are different because cartoons don't have "real" voices. The voice and language are determined by the VA. Bryan Cranston has a voice, so dubbing over his voice with another would ruin his performance. Edward Elric doesn't have a voice. He doesn't speak English or Japanese because he's just a drawing. The VAs breathe life into the character, and the VAs can be good in either language.

Anthony Roberto Flores
>>79883398

@Maia Hi Maia, thanks for the response. Respectfully, I believe which VA is more talented is the wrong question. The relevant question is whether you prefer the experience of the English or the Japanese VA cast as a whole. I could point actors I like more in each and even get more nuanced and say that Romi did this scene better and Vic that scene, but that's only one character in a show that's great because of its ensemble cast! Ultimately I voted dub because I enjoy it more in its totality than the sub and that's all the reason needed :).

Patrick
>>79932698

Problem is people say this for every dub. ‘This one Is iconic. The best dub in all of anime’ so round and round we go.

Unknown

when you enjoy both and are just laughing at these comments

Ken Drummer

Wouldn’t it be great to have the girls experience one dub? Especially the best dub in anime. I’m sure every other anime from now on they react to will be sub. It would be cool to have at least one dub reaction. 🤞

Theatien

I'm only Tier 1, can someone tell me if it's dub or sub? It's so close that I'm not sure if it's changed since the episode came out

o_0

I think dub is the way to go, but I think there should be a separate poll. Brotherhood only, vs Original then Brotherhood. I fell like skipping straight to brotherhood is like deciding to watch Avatar but purposefully skipping out on a lot of character development episodes. Intentionally skipping Zuku Alone, The Takes of Ba Sing Se, the recap play episode, etc. There is a lot more that is expanded on, with a different focus by watching the original first. The only problem right now is that only just recently, it's become hard to find where to stream the original series because it's been taken off of Netflix, but it isn't on Paramount+ (which contains Nikelodeon.)

Ken Drummer

Brotherhood is way better in my humble opinion and closer to the story.

Gordon Wells
>>80340792

Fine with me. Brotherhood has more than enough character development. And the original has waaaay too much filler and just gets weird at the end (in the bad way). Besides Brotherhood is the original story anyway.

Stef
>>79979118
