FIRST....AND MY LIFE IS COMPLETED NOW😭😭😭❤️😭❤️😭❤️😭❤️😭😭❤️😭❤️😭❤️😭❤️😭😭❤️😭❤️😭❤️😭❤️😭

cosmotron

Your comment about how it will all be downhill from here after you finish this show is so true lol. The story and characters will always be top tier for me.

Irene

<333

sand_fl

I agree with your third statement. Not even AOT has surpassed FMAB for me. It was my first anime and I've watch a bunch since then but nothing has topped it.

Tyler Jackson

Are you ladies reacting to the boys anytime soon?

KuroMeansHappiness

Fulltime its one of this shows that is just.. perfect.

michaa

that ending was beautiful.

Marcelo

The synchronized head tilt made me lmao

Jacob

Has anyone here seen Fullmetal Alchemist? I've heard the first show went off in its own direction while the books were still being written, but are they different enough that it's worth watching after finishing this one?

JATLA

You are the best reactors out there, you really understand the characters and emotional parts more than anyone, I’ve watched other reaction channels and they just don’t compare, you deserve much more followers on YouTube and here, it’ll come eventually🙏

Arshan

Ah yisss I was anticipating this episode for a while now. And that final shot is straight from the manga. What an iconic scene

JATLA
>>85818332

Yeah two different stories, worth watching if you want to stay in the universe but FMAB is much better

Arshan
>>85818332

I have watched it. If you cry in the first third of FMAB ever, you will shed rivers in the first third of FMA 03. But then, it... sorta veers off, wildly. I like both still, but the second half of FMA 03 is definitely an acquired taste. It's also quite darker than FMAB, if you can believe it Also... well... Bratja... c'mon! But if you liked FMAB first half, you HAVE to watch FMA 03 first half

Tyler Jackson
>>85817381

No rush! Was just curious. I know you two have a lot of shows to balance lol and we all appreciate it.

ito
>>85818416

that shot isnt from the manga. The author did love the scene tho

Arshan
>>85818416

Really? Wow I ve been bamboozled I remember seeing that scene of Edward pointing through the door drawn black and white on a strip online, Maybe it was fan work homage to the manga with that shot. Edit after some search: Turns out one of the later edition fan cover arts has that scene and I just assumed it was from the manga ha

Rinne

There's an important takeaway from Wrath's story that is never explained so I'll mention it if you didn't fully understand. The reason Wrath ages unlike other homunculi is not because he is a human based homunculus. It's because the philosopher stone given to him has the specific emotion of "wrath or fury" hence all of the souls within it battled for dominance until there's only one left. So King Bradley is essentially a human with superior instincts and that special eye. Other than that he ages and cannot regenerate because of having only one soul.

Robert H.

The show is really unique in the way that there are so many good characters. And there are so many more to come....

Ten
>>85819248

Wow i never knew that. That's really interesting.

Luna lanes

I don't know how to explain this feeling but for me, FMAB perfectly uses the concept of equivalent exchange with the audience. it takes things from us (emotionally drains us, makes us feel bad) but then it immediately gives us good things in return (humor, good feelings, love). it is perfectly balanced to make us feel rewarded. Aot is my favorite show but I have to admit it mostly takes from us and doesn't give us much joy in return. it's cruel 90% of the time and happy 10% of the rest. for FMAB is 50% / 50%. I love the realistic view in Aot and I love the pleasing journey of FMAB so much

Luna lanes
>>85818332

Totally worth it. It's very different. Many new characters and a whole different villain. It's a lot darker than FMAB. It's old but there are actually things I like better in the first version (like the homonculus and their stories).

Alyssa

I love this episode so much, I was so excited to see your reactions!! <3 The ending just rips my heart out every time.

Rinne
>>85819248

What's crazy is that most people miss that part and don't really understand it even having finished the show. I just finished the girls discussion and they got it exactly how it is the first time so my comment is kind of pointless. They also understood that Al body can talk because it's mind and body which is another thing pretty much no reactors figure out. Lol.

Richard O

I really think you guys should watch the recap, it's really well done.

Jed U

Fun fact: the final scene where Ed breaks through the door again to promise Al’s body he’d come back doesn’t happen that way in the manga. He just makes the promise as he originally gets pulled back. The added drama of him forcing his way back just to reassure his brother is amazing and I read somewhere that Arakawa ( the manga writer) loved the change when she saw it

Robert H.

Summary from Ed's interpretation of the hyroglyphs and fragments starting at 18:00: - The sun represents the soul, the moon represents the mind, and the earth represents the body. - Human transmutation means the creation of a new body for a living human being. - "Strike God to become a perfect beeing" he reads from the symbols for the upside down god and the two headed dragon. - The philosopher stone is a tool that can be used for human trasmutation. - A person tries to surpass God through human transmutation. I always find it fascinating how you can tell philosophy and history through symbolism (with a lot of your own interpretation, of course).

Jed U

Can’t wait for the episode 27 reaction. I think it’ll be right up your alley and I imagine you guys losing it in the first minute when you see who the non-recap portions of the episode focuses on

Antiquity

I compare everything to fmab, it really does transcend

Jacob
>>85819248

I don't quite follow the part about Al. So, do the body and the soul each contain part of the mind then? From what we've seen of souls, they certainly seem like they include mind, they aren't just batteries for the body.

Robert H.
>>85818332

FMA 03 is just fascinating to me in that respect, because the characters from Xing don't exist. And as has been said, the show has developed a villain all its own, simply because the manga was still so far in its infancy. When FMA 03 aired the final episode, the manga chapter was released where Roy kills Lust. It's just a very different show because the anime studio had no idea where it was going so early on.

MaxVSTheGames
>>85818332

They are very different. There are some very interesting stuff in the other anime (and the music is incredible), but it doesn't compare to the FMAB, in my opinion. But, if you simply want more Fullmetal after completing Brotherhood, it's certainly worth watching.

Brandon Cruz

FMAB is a unique anime in its own right, and I love its story. Another anime that I think tells an equally great story is the 90s animation of Berserk's Golden Age Arc. It is a trip with great characters, but warning it is a dark story.

♡Cece♡

I feel the same way about Fmab, it's just a 11/10

LelouchFam

please do not do 27 by itself, you should do 27 and 28 together.

♡Cece♡

I am currently watching the 03 Version because i wanted to see more of this Universe and im only 2/5 trough but honestly i recommend you guys react to it after Brotherhood, it IS different and of course not as good as brotherhood but it has imo some stronger moments (in comparison to same scenes in brotherhood), it also darker than brotherhood but also focuses more on the brother relationsship than the plot as a whole (but i'm only 2/5 trough so) and honestly i think that's such a rewarding part of the 03 version after watching brotherhood if you you can't see enough of "our boys". :)

Orr Malus

As far as anime goes (I would personally include novels, movies, and everything else) FMA: Brotherhood is like a flawless full course perfect meal. There are other shows out there that can be described as a perfect dessert or appetizer, so worry not. These shows will satisfy you but they won't fill you up like FMA: Brotherhood did.

DougRaw

These reactions fuel my week. Honestly, the way you two enjoy this show is exactly what makes reaction channels a thing. As much as I love this show (Top 10 all time for me and I've watched a LOT of tv... a lot...) watching people who love it go through it for the first time is basically as good as experiencing it for the first time yourself. Keep them coming!

Gurido

aot and fmab are definitely some of the best animes out there, tho in my opinion if u are looking for anime peak fiction it's gotta be one piece. there's actually nothing that can compare to that

Raziel_BBT
>>85822080

saying that Berserk is dark is a understatement, that thing is dark AF. But while the 90's Berserk is really great, the true masterpiece is the manga, that they will probably not react to

Arshan

Also, 12 is a significant number in Hermeticism, and it is a tradition in Hermeticism and Kabbalah to repeat certain numbers back to back or in different context, - and this show takes a lot of very deep inspirations from Hermeticism and Medieval Alchemy beyond its namesake

My Toasty Toast

I think this was my favorite episode of the show; I’m an emotional wreck now

sand_fl

well, just finished the reaction and, as it was expected, i cried again. no matter how many times i watch some scenes of this show like this one, the one with winry and ed in episode 20 and some others that are yet to come, i always end up bawling . i do agree, episode 27 may not be perfect but it is still pretty good and probably the best recap episode i've watched (not including the ember island players because even if it was an episode with lower budget it wasn't exactly a recap episode).

CirithUngol

Trust me when I say this, even the recap will make you cry lol

Sebastian

theres actually an interview between hiromu arakawa (author of fmab) and isayama where they discuss their thought process on storytelling with each other. its a really interesting read but only when you finish watching both series since they do discuss spoilers.

Merfhew
>>85826010

I haven't seen many reactions for the 2003 series, which is a real shame. I'm a huge fan of both adaptations. I think the first anime gets a bad reputation because it isn't an adaptation of the entire manga, but it has its own charm.

Sebastian
>>85826010

my bad i shouldve specified isayama is the author of attack on titan. although i do plan on revisiting the 2003 version of fma soon!

Ken Drummer

Ed busting through the door one more time to promise Al was one of the most powerful scenes in anime. Ed was not leaving until he gave Al hope. It was such a beautiful scene.

Raziel_BBT

When May is remembering Alphonse, Ed is just a tiny creature barely visible because of so little attention she payed for him. If only she knew that was her "prince charming"

Morgan Crafton (carrots)

On the discussion of the Truth and Al’s body, when Ed passes by the Truth and it speaks to him about not even trying to get his body back, you can see it has his arm and leg on its body. So Al’s Truth took his WHOLE body

Joey Joseph Jojoson
>>85826010

my issue with the 2003 version is that I was already close to finishing the manga when I watched it, didn't know it would go off on its own story. so my reaction after watching 2003 was "wtf is this? what did I just watch?!"

Joey Joseph Jojoson
>>85818332

I hold a very strong opinion towards the 2003 series. not only because it went off on its own (and had a significantly smaller world, villains that didn't make sense), it's also because the circumstances that contributed the making of 2003 series. As a female manga creator in the predominantly male profession, Arakawa had to make a lot of sacrifices and compromises to gain recognition for her work, and 2003 is the testimony of it.

ng24

Love this episode! Whenever you two have room for a new show/anime you should consider Vinland Saga! It’s about Vikings and is an amazing show, I think you both would love it.

RepliCant

The next intro is my favourite of the entire show!

JR Reed

I think you will be surprised by how many of the shows you really connect with the characters at least the really good ones. Like Demon Slayer how can one not love the blessed soul of Tanjiro? Of course everything lands differently with all of us, so certainly we connect differently. Or Danmachi Bell is the sweetest boy around. My guess is these 2 would love the characters and connect with both of the shows casts and feel their tragedy and growth of those characters. I am sure there are others but those are just the first 2 that come to mind.

JR Reed
>>85824042

That was exactly my comment as well. How could they not love his pure soul and completely empathize with the his trials and tribulations.

WB
>>85818332

Its worth watching. While FMAB is better overall there are some things are even better in the 03

Rinne
>>85822701

It depends. I myself can't take 90% of one piece seriously. Too goofy. Pacing and animation are also subpar. If you're looking for something serious that doesn't drag certainly not for you.

Rinne
>>85834859

They've said they'll most likely react to it when Season 2 is a bit closer. :)

Robert H.
>>85822701

Personally, I think One Piece is terrible.... I really liked the beginning of the story, but over time it felt like the story wasn't progressing. Also, the characters have regressed a lot. They didn't grow up, but became children going through puberty. And especially the women in the story have degenerated into nothing more than objects of desire: https://youtu.be/c-VDp68Iuq8 To quote from a catalog of fan questions: Fan: "How to draw that hawt hourglass body all ONE PIECE female characters seem to have! Make sure you don't forget to include their airbags (boooobieees ♡)." O: Yes. Hello. It's drawing time at the SBS segment. I would suggest that you think of a woman's proportions as "three circles, one X". (I only draw this kind of body, so I get a lot of complaint postcards from my female audience. I want them to accept that I am not writing my story for them. Let them look at something else if they don't like my portrayal of women.)

Savaun Lollis

are they watching the after credits?

Tommy R

Love the reactions can’t wait for 27. Calling the next episode a recap is an injustice. The way the use the flashbacks is soooo much more. I think you both will be very pleasantly surprised and possible a bit confused haha.

BBT

just a reminder, but episodes 28, 29 and 30 have after credit scenes

Robert H.
>>85857763

Here is a detailed list again: 1, 6, 8, 28, 29, 30, 32, 33, 36, 40, 42, 43, 44, 46, 48, 49

Nikodem
>>85854572

I'm actually pretty sure they will catch on very quick. They are smart and perceptive.

Paul Huang
>>85854572

your just hyping up 27 for them to be disappointed lol, the fma manga was my favorite, but the recap was not needed for a whole episode. Your just being biased, best part about ep 27 is you get to see the next intro which is rlly good

RemielEgis

I had no recollection from my first watch of this show that it was THIS dark. I mean we already had the Nina+dog from episode 4 but it's something different to see those misfigured human faces screaming for help. Another dark thing was them raising children basically just to test the philosopher's stone on them to create Bradley and seeing the corpses of those failed candidates just lying on the floor of the next room. This show definitely should be 16+ at least but it's definitely not for children. The dark stuff aside, that scene in the end with Ed pushing through the door with the ending theme starting to play is just gold and a fitting farewell to this end theme honestly ;__;

Gurido
>>85822701

It sure is easy to slander something u never gave a chance to

Rinne
>>85822701

I mean cmon, just look at the compilation Robert sent. It's literally for twelve year olds. And that's a HUGE part of the show.
