i have a list of my top 100 individual anime episodes of all time haha thats funny, took so long to order them and everything, not naming the specifics but some in my top 10 include episodes from Attack on Titan, 86, Steins;Gate, Vinland Saga, Hunter x Hunter, Violet Evergarden, and that one amazing episode in Darling in the Franxx. was a fun list to make!

Exactly it was unnecessary panic when someone was saying to not watch the opening. It’s completely fine to watch and not anything crazy. Doesn’t ruin the experience at all. I hope they watch it because it wasn’t half against and half for. It was more like the vast majority for watching it.

The reason we don't see the kings eyes in previous scenes is because the crown is highlighted instead of his face. It's because he is just "the will of the crown" instead of a person.

Spoiler alert: They are smart and they pay attention to detail. The opening just reveals the timeline. Yes the opening is fire but it spoils the first episode by it self. The manga wanted to be discreet with Thorfinn but the opening just ruins the core of the episode.

I didn't think much of it at the time, but watching again and hearing you two talk about it, Thorfinn being the only one to realize Askeladd is angry reminds me of when he was the only one to realize Thors was angry (when Floki was talking to him in Iceland).

I feel like watching the opening after ep1 is the best option since there is a reveal in the episode that won't be as impactful if you've seen the opening.

The consistency of quality of the episodes from episode 14 to 24 is unreal. It is phenomenal (not to say any episode before 14 is bad they’re all great).

I speculated a while back on the delays and it appears I was correct. They're not exactly keen on watching shows that are so emotionally draining for them. Not to mention having to go through them twice over for the edited versions. So, it's to be expected for delays to happen and I don't blame them. They are not the intended audience for HxH so I'm definitely expecting delays. Though to be fair, they'll probably get bored with HxH instead of traumatized like it's the case with BoB. The first season of HxH is a total snooze-fest.

Always bums me out to hear that perspective because the first arc is very strong in the '99 version. It's certainly a step down in the 2011. Snoozefest is a bit much though. There's no reason to be bored unless you're trying to be disinterested

Eh, I don’t really think it’s a “getting his shit together” as much as it’s paying off what he’s been establishing with the first act of the story. The first two arcs imo do an amazing job at laying the foundation for whats to come and maybe that’s only obvious in retrospect. I do agree that both the manga and 99 anime do a better job at telling the beginning of the story than 2011 but I still enjoyed it nonetheless (although maybe I am biased since I grew up watching the 99 version)

last night i watched both this and the me robot reaction and let me tell you that i've had enough of seeing people peeing. they really didn't need to show the fucking stream 💀 i agree with milena ngl, i always loved the scene of canute realising what love is or isn't and i've always enjoyed a religious character struggling with their beliefs, but yes, seeing canute like this always makes me a bit sad. yes, it's great to see him having the bravery to face his father and even mock him, but he shouldn't have to and it's sad that he lost his innocence when ragnar died. yes, he was immature but he was a child and he deserved to keep that innocence intact. but i also understand that being from the royal family meant that the only options were that he changed like he did or die.

man idk if we watched the same anime cuz i loved every arc. the 1st is definitely the worst but almost dropping it is crazy. You never watch one piece or any other like that? they got slow starts but its not THAT bad

HxH ultimately did not disappoint. The psycho jester was the only reason why I pushed through the 1st arc. A character whose sole purpose is to create tension whenever the author has a block or the plot is getting too dull and predictable. It's a truly unique and genius idea.

First time watching this show and it's shocking to me how good it is. Really quality episodes these last few. Ever since they captured Canute it's been 10/10s every episode.
