Thank you 😊

Jay

Love your reactions :)

Kara

I would rather have the "processing" version with a warning than wait until tomorrow to hear the before and after discussion after watching the full length! So thanks for doing that 😊

Sam was in his bag on that one and the rest of these episodes. I can't believe all the little touches

autumn

The two people who approach Angela can be seen in the background of all her scenes when she's out at bars/in public heavily, watching her throughout the season

Myeh

I love how you were so looking forward to Darlene and Dom meeting and then this whole episode it was just "FUCK THEY CAN'T MEET NOW". Those last five minutes are super intense and super well done. The next two eps are another two-parter, not released together but I think they work better as a whole btw I'm also glad you find Tyrell hilarious because he really is, he's a dramatic bitch. Everything he does is so funny to me ROT13 Season 4 spoilers: Gurl'ir onfvpnyyl pbggbarq bagb Rqjneq nyfb orvat nohfvir cerggl rneyl ba juvpu vf vzcerffvir, naq gung gur erirny jvyy unccra cerggl yngr. RocktSurgeon

Angela is a great character, she does have moments that the direction she takes/choices she makes get frustrating but that's true of all the characters. And not that even those choices are poorly written or bad exactly, really just wanting better for her.

Myeh

"watching mr. robot sometimes feels like watching dora the explorer except instead of being asked to help find like a yellow tree or something you’re being asked to help overthrow capitalism and solve a global economic crisis involving international terrorist organizations and you have 10 seconds to answer or someone you love will die tragically under suspicious circumstances" -sarcastic-clapping, tumblr

Kara

I love Angela! Portia Doubleday does an amazing job and she's a really interesting character

RocktSurgeon

Important thing about the Director of the FBI that it sounds like you're missing- the boss that Dom speaks to (Santiago) is not the Director! He is the Special Agent in Charge and runs the New York Division of the FBI, not the "Director Comey" they mention a few times.

RocktSurgeon
>>99861060

The Director of the FBI that they mention a few times is Director Comey, and that is a politically appointed position that is in charge of the entire Bureau. In theory it is supposed to be apolitical, but realistically that position does tend to be influenced by political pressure and sometimes makes decisions trying to be politically/publicly "for the best" even at the expense of individual investigations. Director Comey was really the director of the FBI at the time, and the year after this season he ends up being VERY controversial for a decision he made during the presidential election that may have helped Trump win by hurting his opponent. So... some of us would probably agree with you about the real Comey making some bad decisions just like the one in the show may have.

terrier

So good, I started rewatching the show with you guys and now can't stop. Elliot, Darlene, Angela, Tyrell, Joanna, Dom, Cisco, Mobley, Trenton - such a great characters set, just love all of them.

I feel like 70% of my comments this season have been about Angela xD She's an underrated character for sure, and while I've always had an appreciation for her character this rewatch of this season really cemented that there's so much more to her than people realize. I'm glad Lola is so attached to her. S2 supremacy, everyone

tom

I was going to mention it in a previous episode when you brought up the CDs in Elliot's apartment and forgot, but the files on there are encrypted. So Elliot isn't just burning the files onto them and writing artist/songs on there as a disguise. If someone tried to play the CD they wouldn't have access to the files. Cmon, Elliot is way more careful than that

tom
>>99860846

The shot of his apartment where he is wondering if there's something in there is very Dora the Explorer - esque. One of many great scenes in the show where the writing, cinematography and editing all work so well together to create an incredibly immersive and almost transcendent environment

You absolutely nailed it here, summarized it beautifully and without being political at the same time. The synchronization of this show with real world timings at that point of history is perhaps unintentionally / intentionally poetic and spot on.

There's a lot of focus on the Father, but not enough on the Mother in my opinion - we've seen how she reacts when one of her children visit her now. Also, Darlene refusing to visit her mother after Elliot was released from jail. We also know that Darlene has regular panic attacks, and in the flashback of Elliot and Darlene first creating fsociety Elliot's first question to Darlene is always in regards to her panic attacks / wellbeing. Darlene also felt comfort when another woman kidnapped her, it brought her a sense of safety - another mother figure. Darlene also has the same type of rage outbursts as Elliot as well, carrying a lot of anger inside. This seems quite unexplored in the post reactions and the focus is always redirected on the father which I find interesting.

first of all, fuck that song they put at the beginning, i almost dropped my mug of hot chocolate on my laptop, luckily i only dropped a little on my hoddie. what a fucking episode tbh. i saw angela and elliot's kiss coming and it was bound to happen at some point, so with everything that happened in this episode that didn't surpised me that much. i honestly didn't even thought about angela working with the fbi. i don't think that's happening but now that you mentioned it i can't stop thinking about it. watching this only twice a week with you is TORTURE. you cannot imagine the ammount of restrain i have for not clicking the "next episode" thing. darlene's story broke my heart. imagine how bad a 5 year old kid must feel to be happy to be kidnapped and be sad she was sent home again. i fucking hate their parents andi i'm terrified for what else could be revealed about their abuse towards their kids. i agree with what you said about cisco and darlene. if he wasn't there darlene would have definetly crossed another line and now that he's dead, because i asume the blood on dom's face was his and he's definetly not surviving this season, i'm terrified of what darlene is capable of without anyone making her see that sometimes she doesn't make the best decisions. i'm really exited for the next couple of episodes and see what the fuck is going on with tyrell and joanna. also, i get the feeling that joanna is not going to live for long... idk, i feel like tyrell is going to get rid of her now that he's been without her breathing on his neck for a while.

I applaud you for your patience lol. It's only going to get worse because finales are always crazy plus S3 has the most consistent quality of episodes IMO. I'm really happy that everyone recognizes Cisco's impact on Darlene! It's hard to imagine such a positive impact coming from the man who filmed Angela in the shower :P Which story thread are you most interested in following for the rest of this season?

sand_fl
>>99904151

@Isaac, yes i often remember that about cisco lol, but yeah, he really saved darlene from going down the rabbit hole. i mean, i'd say right now the whole darlene/cisco/dom storyline is what has me hooked. don't get me wrong, i'm really curious about tyrell's whereabouts and who were those persons in the subway with angela, but right now i'm really hyped about that last scene and i'm so frustrated because i really want to watch the next, but if i watch the next i'm sure i'll just binge the rest of the show in a week and i'm really enjoying watching this with them.

Apparently she quit acting after the series! Which is unfortunate for us, because she does superb. I read online she went back to studying to focus in the field of neurology if I'm not mistaken. Strange twist but definitely a respectable outlet for skill up in. Hope she made some bank from the series to sustain those expenses of studying!
