Woah, wasn't expecting this tonight. Hype - and yeah I remember this one, it's pretty strong stuff at the start.

Isaac

Sub-minute intro? Who are you people and what have you done with LM?

sand_fl

what? just finished ep 2 but damn, it's late. now i want to know what you mean about the intro. fuck me. everything is easier when i've already watched the show you're reacting too, then i just have the anticipation for the reactions, now i really want to watch the episode 💀💀

@LM Reaction well, you just saved me from another night of sleep deprivation because i probably would have just watched just to know what you meant about the intro and then i probably would not have stopped and watched the whole episode. but wow, i don't think i've ever watched one of your videos have less than a minute of intro, must be a record.

Omg yesss can’t believe it’s out already

I love the start of this ep bc Whiterose of all characters has remained more mysterious and less developed across the series, which was a bit of a shame bc "Chinese official who's secretly a closeted trans leader of a hacker cult" is one of the most unique character concepts I've ever seen. And this episode puts her into full context. Her, Elliot, even Angela all exist because of the failings of society, but one could argue that because Elliot's dad and Angela's mom working on the Washington Township plant and her involvement in the Deus Group, WR has BECOME the failings of society. It's compelling stuff

I just feel so bad for Olivia/the bank girl. She’s trying to do what she can to keep herself going and for her kid.. and she seems genuinely sweet, decent and opens up to him. The scene with the pill bottle… it’s a lot. In another time it seems like they could maybe even be good for each other.

Great reaction! When I first watched the show, I struggled to empathise with Whiterose. Now years later as an openly queer person, I find myself empathising with her more and more on each rewatch. Her methods are monstrous and things she's done are unforgiveable. But I think everyone who has felt like they didn't belong be it trans, gay or other has fantasized about living in a world where everyone is accepted and everyone gets a chance at happiness. And the kicker is that with all the control, power and money she accrued, she could have significantly improved the world around her, but instead chooses to channel it all into her project. For an antagonist that easily could have slipped into offensive caricature (especially played by a cis actor) Whiterose is complex and interesting. I hope we get more well written trans characters who are allowed to be imperfect, villainous even, without using tired stereotypes. I forgot the Olivia stuff was going to happen this episode. The whole scene is so cute. Mr Robot is the ultimate wingman and I love seeing him like this. Elliot's scenes with Olivia are great and it's nice to see our boy be happy and connect with someone. A vision of what could be. Final shoutout to my boy Tyrell for being so excited about his new job he breaks into his boyfriend's apartment and starts yelling as loudly as possible all their secret plans. There are no brain cells left in this man's head and I'm here for it.

It's a very believable performance, you really feel for her super quickly. Great acting.

For some reason I never connected Vera to Tyrell in terms of their adoration for Elliot (as well as their delusions of grandeur), despite both being very prominent in the first season. But it makes sense and they are kind of parallels in a way

Vera (played by Eliot Velar) is a stupidly good actor. And right now it might not make much sense, but you’ll be thankful he came back once his plot line unravels.

Dustywood

Elliot just attracts mentally ill people, they gravitate to him, normal people hate Elliot -but the mentally ill..... They... They're obsessed with him lol. From Tyrells desperation for acceptance and obsession with Elliot, to Vera (which I'll skim over the details for now as this show is about to deliver some magic), to Leon's love for Elliot. As well as Whiteroses obsession with Elliot too.

It was pure torture waiting between episodes and seasons when this originally aaired

Leon is the most sane amongst the 3 and he isn't really an adorer of Elliot. He roots for him but doesn't worship at his feet like these 2 crazy ones

I remember that it was a torture waiting for the friggin 2nd episode right after the pilot because there was a 1-2 month hiatus in between the very first 2 episodes lol. I was immediately hooked from the pilot and the show became an instant hit when the pilot aired

thelumpur

Yeah, the episodes naming for this Season is quite neat, and the codes actually do relate to the plot of the episodes. So far: 401 Unauthorized: It's about Elliot no letting himself grieve for Angela, and also everybody being constrained, literally or figuratively, from Dom with Dark Army to Elliot caught in the Garcin trap. 402 Payment Required: A reference to the mother's safe deposit box which was thrown away because no payment arrived for it for two years. 403 Forbidden: Whiterose's backstory

tom

The payment required thing could also have to do with the whole Deus Group plan and Olivia as the contact
