Patreon and iOS pricing (Patreon)

It seems that Apple is making unpleasant changes, and requiring Patreon to use Apple's own payment system exclusively if they want to keep their App in the app store. This means they have to remove all other forms of billing in their iOS app.

This sucks because Apple's payment system tags on a 30% price increase onto the standard subscription fee that goes exclusively to apple., as well as to any item purchases on an iOS device from the shop (not that I have much, but still.) Patreon isn't responsible for this, but obviously it still blows. This change will go into effect Nov 2024.

Fortunately, this change will NOT affect any existing subscribers, only new ones. So if you are already subscribed, no worries, this won't affect you. It will ONLY new members who subscribe through the app on iOS. (iphone/ipad)

If you subscribe through a computer web browser or android device, this price increase will not affect you.
