As much as I think Yorick would be hilarious, the Vanguard chose Samantha for a reason. But Yorick would be a name all its own, like John. As far as we know, the first time the Vanguard heard it was just now as “alas poor Yorick.” I’m torn.

Yorick is a very fun choice for the name, and in Hamlet, he's a reminder of death, memento mori, but also a jester. I feel like that name is a setup for something we might not want.

It's worth noting for anyone hanging on the names have power thing like I am. Samantha means 'God has heard'. And Yorick while not having a direct known translation is believed to be closest to Eric which means 'Forever ruler' more or less. But in this case Yorick being a Shakespeare reference to a Jester beloved by Hamlet

Okay so it might seem like I'm voting Yorick for the memes, but a) let the boys have a little silliness between the horrors, b) names have power and it's the only name not connected to an existing irl person/being so it's a blank slate, and c) free Shakespeare 101 class for John, which I think would be good enrichment for an entity fond of poetry and music and movies and theatre.
