Malevolent: Chapter 61 (Patreon)

Good Morning friends,

As you should now be aware Arthur's journey has taken a major detour. I had always intended to visit the world he now finds himself trapped in and now it's come.

Malevolent was never intended to be a saga that found itself divided into sections; it was always intended to be one, ongoing story. A story that, if all goes well and you lovely people continue to support, will continue on for a long time. However if I were to put a dividing line on this little tale, 61 would serve as the start of "Book 2"

That being said, this new reality may feel slightly different. The gumshoe detective mystery trope that brought us this far belongs in the real world. As Arthur will discover, this new challenge will require more from him than we've come to expect and equally, more from you.

I tell you all this because I want to inform and then reassure you.

First; I want to inform you that while in this plane, expect more fantasy elements to worm their way into our story. Not only because it's something that I think this world oozes, but because it's something I've been excited to explore. The horrors of Lovecraft have always been alien and fantastic in nature and I want to see what happens when these characters fully emerge themselves in the otherworldly. The nature of this is, in essence, whimsical, so be prepared.

Second; to reassure you. While the nature of these lands will see Arthur face a less traditional grounded horror experience, our world will return to it's original state eventually. The days of hard-boiled detective work are not gone, not by a long shot, but they are on hold until they can sort themselves out of this mess.

So, have faith, have fun, stay tuned and above all else, enjoy.
