Oscar says he doesn’t care if Parker isn’t Arthur’s name. We run the risk of getting booted if we’re not “Daniel’s family.”

endergummi

the guy approaching Arthur is clearly testing him to see if he'll lie or not, and Oscar seems to trust him more so I definitely think being truthful is the play here

Broth Mirepoix

The alias is somewhat moot now that both larson and the butcher know where he is and what his alias was up until this point so... fuck it, let's be Arthur

Hallow

What if this man is from the Free Masons? Going by the name Arthur would aid in our goal to get in via the Daniel connection

M.K.

i truly think there's no good option here, but being truthful has done arthur good these past few times so im choosing to continue that

Kat Rooney

I'm worried this is a detective investigating Parker's death in Arkham. Hearing the primary suspect's FiL was attacked might be a lead to follow up on. In that case, what's the worst answer? I'd say using Parker's name would be worst.

Benjamin Wigler

I think it’s time to let our hair down and just be Arthur.

Amy

The alias is shot. I figure anyone coming in now would know this is Arthur. Even if it is a detective investigating, he’d have seen pictures of Arthur and know it’s him. Oscar already suspects Arthur’s alias and has proven himself trustworthy anyway.

Megs

Long shot, what if it’s James? Arthur wondered if he was still living in Boston, but who’s to say he didn’t move to New York?

jewell

If parkers death is being investigated it will be less suspicious to be honest about who arthur is then get caught stealing his partners identity, and if we are a suspect we can lie and say we are investigating his death privately and have been in hiding from the people who are responsible, hell maybe point the police in larsons direction

milliemuns

Based on the stranger's mannerisms and confidence/entitlement ("I'm exactly where I need to be because I have a right to be here" vibes) I'm thinking this might be a detective...esp trying to sus out info from us first to see what we'll say. That, or it's a free mason maybe? Checking in on one of their own. Either way, we might get more information if we just say we're Arthur.

milliemuns

Also as an aside, the stranger replying "Oh, I'm golden" sets me on edge but ik I'm probably reading into it too much haha. I just have the nightmare episode on the brain

Brie

What is the point of an alias if you don't stick to it for random people who approach you?

Kenza Breton

fuck it, let's be arthur lester

Indrid Hartley

I think there's way too much risk in revealing that we're arthur lester. He might be a detective and arrest us

Nicky

Either the person already recognizes Arthur and asked his name just to see what he’ll do/because Arthur’s asking his, or he doesn’t know who Arthur is and wants to know why he’s there. I don’t see any benefit in this situation to lying/using a fake name: the whole point of using Parker in the first place was to keep The Butcher off his trail but The Butcher is on his way anyway, and Larson will realize soon enough Arthur’s not in the basement and likely guess where he’s gone. Giving Parker would do nothing but potentially raise suspicion and put Marie in danger by outing his pseudonym for enemies to see where he’s been/cause more trouble to those around him. BJ noted that if asking for Daniel at the desk, using Parker would have landed him in handcuffs and using Arthur would delay (but not necessarily cuffed)

Nicky

When you used it to hide from someone in particular and they already know where you are, what’s the point in keeping it up?

Brie

Arthur is trying to hide from several people, including the police for murder. If this guy is a cop or detective Arthur should NOT give his real name

Nicky

Some folks are assuming he’s wanted for murder, but there is no evidence of that. The Arkham police could very well be assuming he was a victim of whoever killed Peter and Eddie, and we don’t know that there’s any communication between cops in different states

Nicky

And the only other folks he used Parker to avoid were The Butcher (who’s on his way/already in the hospital/ knows who he is) and Larson, who also already now knows he’s in New York and will likely readily guess he’s gone to the hospital when he finds the apartment basement empty

Indrid Hartley

I think John and Arthur have both talked about him being wanted for the murder or at the very least a suspect. Idk it seems too risky to just say his real name to me given how Peter was found in Arthurs closet and then Eddy was also murdered in the same day. It might be an assumption but its still a big risk I wouldn't take.

Nicky

Also something to consider (though I know folks don’t trust Booth John) intro included info on what would have happened with each choice and asking for Daniel as Parker would have led to being cuffed while asking for him as Arthur just would have been delayed

Jess

Huh. It's starting to seem like missing/unreliable information is a theme of this season. First, we didn't get the context from Booth John at the end of the nightmare chapters. Then we were in Collins perspextive with limited knowledge on the characters we actually make desicions on. We've also had an increasingly manipulative Booth John over the course of the rest of the episodes (with a major spike in the recent Scratch episodes,) giving us context on a serious slant. Now, John doesn't remember who people are, so we don't know who Arthur is interacting with when we're making decisions. Anyway, these are the thoughts I have instead of a good idea of what to vote for.

Nicky

Scratch took over for Booth John in The Nightmare, like The Butcher POV took over from Arthur’s in The Butcher. I’m really enjoying the way the season is playing with the structure

S

Maybe I'm just confused, but WHY would people know to arrest a man named Parker? It's come up twice now!

Teakettle

I know I'm in the minority but I'm going with Parker here. We can backtrack from a lie but not from the truth.

Nicky

My thoughts about chances of anyone arrested using Parker are that if this is an investigator they are going to want full name. Arthur isn’t in a good mind set and in calmer times he couldn’t think of a last name when asked so saying he’s Parker ?? is very likely to come off as suspicious, and he’ll have no way to back it up. On the other hand, Arthur Lester is easy for his addled mind to remember, and even without his ID, there is likely enough to the situation to validate him frantically dashing around a hospital muttering to himself

S

A bit belated, but thank you very much for this response! It really helped me gain some perspective.

Alexi

absolutely cannot believe this vote. i was only gone for 1 week
