I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. We can do it team, we CAN get a three way tie, it’s in our power.

Dizzy-Day

All three are terrible, interesting, and terribly interesting

Jo

RIP to the memories of a real one and sorry bout your arm, but it's time to yeet Oscar into the big memory hole

Honey Coffee

This one is tough. I’m afraid whatever Arthur put on that paper, that thing will be forgotten and I don’t want him to forget Oscar, and meeting John is also an important memory, so I guess duck pond it is?

Lambda

Reasons why I'm currently voting Oscar: We don't know what, if anything, putting a memory down on this piece of paper does. We don't know for sure if it's forgetting it, or sacrificing it, or for what purpose this is happening. However, I am generally operating under the assumption that we will somehow or another, "lose" the memory, or it will be used against us, as we are not here for the same reasons the cultists are, and whatever benefit they gain from doing this is unlikely to be extended to us. In my perspective, Faroe is the most important memory out of the three in emotional value to Arthur. Faroe is deeply tied to Arthur's sense of self, and he has used memories of her not only to withstand the pressure of the King in Yellow, but also to withstand Scratch. To me, putting her memory out there, possibly risking losing it or sacrificing a memory of her, feels antithetical to Arthur's previous declarations that he would "never forget her, not her". She is not just her death - she is the joy that she brought Arthur too, and on an emotional level, I am unwilling to risk one of the happiest memories Arthur has of his child for uncertain reasons. Even if we don't lose the memory or otherwise sacrifice it, Faroe feels too deep of a cut to offer to something that may use it against us. Plus, this is one of the few memories of Faroe we are aware of that is not also coupled with guilt, and I feel like Arthur will need this memory to hold on to. Metaphorically sacrificing his daughter to a cult for almost certainly no gain other than entry feels really bad and Larson-like.

Lambda

You could argue that meeting John might be a good choice because it's like a fresh start for the two of them. However, it feels antithetical to everything that happened with Yellow to vote John - to sacrifice a memory of him of when he wasn't as pleasant as he is now, it's like denying the parts of him that aren't as palatable, and I think thematically it's important for us to keep ALL of John with us.

ACE

Sorry for the paragraphs but I feel very strongly that we shouldn't vote duck pond so I'm copy pasting from discord: So first I want to establish two things - although they have the objective of finding and retrieving the fallen star, Arthur’s personal goal still seems to be killing Larson. Arthur also believes that the memory is an offering, and one he won’t get back (whether this is true or not remains to be seen, but that’s his belief). The duck pond is *the* narrative symbol for Arthur’s memory of Faroe. Apart from her death, it’s the most detailed memory we as the audience have heard. Arthur is often driven by the memory of Faroe’s death and his guilt over it, but the duck pond stands as a pure symbol of his love for her. Arthur choosing this memory to sacrifices parallels way too closely to Larson sacrificing his daughter, and I think him choosing it would be a dark path for him to go down. His feelings about Faroe’s death are what have driven him to so doggedly pursue killing Larson, and sacrificing the memory that symbolises his love for her in order to achieve that goal feels like Arthur losing part of himself, making himself more like Larson in order to defeat him. I want to point out that earlier this episode John says “Killing Larson isn’t worth losing ourselves”, and I think sacrificing the duck pond memory would be a step toward Arthur losing himself.

Lambda

So unfortunately, this leaves Oscar. I'm confident that John will remember the lesson of "fight until the very end" to hopefully give him some confidence that he may be able to resist Kayne for whatever is coming up, and at the very least, Arthur has already said his goodbyes to Oscar. I'm so sorry king but you gotta take the L on this one.

Flamia

Sorry Oscar, you gotta go.

Thomas Hegarty

I’m really conflicted on meeting John. It doesn’t say knowing him or specify if it’s meeting him as John or the first meeting. I went with Oscar my only fear with that is it was a really big growth moment for John. I don’t know that Arthur loses that much but John takes a huge step back

Queen

something i wanted to point out that a fellow patron pointed out on discord: in Part 31, The Nightmare, Arthur says he visited this duck pond with Faroe every day one summer for hours. this is a huge chunk of happy memories for him. also- this is the same man who refused to give up or let go of Faroe to the King in Yellow, the same man who was able to overcome and be brought back from the brink all because of Faroe....would he really give her up now? to a cult (and we know how much arthur hates cults) for a purpose he isn't totally sure of? i'm stuck between oscar and john, but i know i've eliminated duck pond.

PinchOfpeppers

I think it’s utterly vital that we DON’T vote duck pond. I love Oscar to bits, but if it’s between him, John, and Faroe, Oscar’s got to go. Sorry king.

Lizzy Lue

Some of this is copied from discord. My big concerns for voting Oscar are: 1. ‘Knowing Oscar’ implies the most forgotten memories. It is the most vague. It could affect past or future memories. This is more unpredictable. We don't really know what is being offered. 2. Losing something in vain if it is not an acceptable offering. The John and Oscar offerings don't match the cultist’s entry. 3. Huge loss of hard won character development and progress made this season. 4. Forgetting him would be an awful way to repay Oscar’s kindness. 5. Faroe is in the past, both Oscar and John are in the here and now, and have the potential to affect future events. Oscar and John can also be harmed by this decision, Faroe cannot.

Madi

I’m not really sure, trust me though I’m gungho about following whatever John wants at this point but I feel like if we vote for “meeting” John, it would make it like he always existed in Arthur’s head, maybe that would give John way way more sway over Arthur in the future and I don’t think that’s a brilliant idea, but I think it would change the story dramatically. That being said I’m voting Oscar lol I don’t want Arthur to lose whatever edge he has over John at this point. I can’t imagine why Arthur would make the decision to forget meeting John, and to write that down right in front of him.

MomoTheMoogle

While I feel like voting for the Oscar memory will come back to bite me, I also feel like it's the only option I can make. Echoing previous commenters, the memories of Faroe at the duck pond and meeting John are so important to Arthur that I feel it would be utterly antithetical to Arthur's character and growth to choose either, not to mention the effect that witnessing Arthur sacrifice the memory of meeting John would have on John himself. Regardless of the decision, I feel like there will be painful consequences, but I still feel like this is the only choice I can bear to make.

Rabid’n’Cheez

While I feel like meeting John was a bad memory, I would think that it would be too impactful on John and Arthurs relationship. I mean, remember what happened with Yellow? The duck pond with Farou is a memory that completely comforts Arthur, and I would hate to see him get tortured like that. But with forgetting Oscar, we were also just about to leave the city and go to England, and probably not go back. So forgetting Oscar it is,

SoapCarver

We have to remember what Arthur is walking into, here- The Cult of the Fallen Star, where Arthur aims to steal its most important relic and kill a member. Should we really be giving these people ANY sway over Arthur, even if only letting them know a happy memory? Faroe is the one memory that kept Arthur from being completely consumed by the King back in Part 12. Should we really let Arthur's enemies have access to it, ill-intent or otherwise?

Raven Fritz

I've just realized that the vagueness of "knowing Oscar" is scary. Arthur might forget everything that happened alongside him as well. No more sealing scratch, no more learning about the imposter character that was listening to Hypnos, possibly no more Hypnos. Memories might be taken beyond the obvious. That being said, I still think it might be the best option.

Megs

Definitely voting for Oscar, not because I want Arthur to forget him, but because the other two choices are simply unacceptable. The main downside in the short term is that Oscar could still come back into play somehow. Plus we still don’t know what was in Oscar’s letter. On the other hand, think of how great the parallels would be. If Oscar comes back and Arthur doesn’t remember him, Arthur will get a firsthand look at what it was like for Yellow when they met.

Lambda

I'm hoping that at least in terms of "will we need this knowledge again", that either only knowing Oscar is taken and the rest is left, or at least John will remember. If neither is true, I still stand by that I think out of these options Oscar is the one we can afford to lose.

Lambda

I know, I don't want to forget Oscar but that's the choice I think is best T_T

SeerOfTime

Point five was in my own reasoning on why I originally was going to choose the duck pond memory a few days ago, but now I have no ideeeea.

devotedwretch

i don’t know what to vote but “i can’t forget the night i met you” is certainly on my mind…

Zos

This is my roman empire

faeyoli

Well, this is a tough one. I think the cult most likely requires a meaningful memory you don't want to lose. The more meaningful, the more painful to lose, the better. That puts Faroe's memory in the spotlight. I fear choosing Oscar, as it the least meaningful memory, would be detrimental to the mission. I guess the question is: Is the mission worth the cost to Arthur? Faroe's memory might very well be precious enough to let the order get away.

Horsebone

I think losing Oscar is pretty risky - if Arthur loses all memories of him, he'd lose a lot of info about Scratch and the Butcher as well. I don't think it'd be an easy memory for him to let go of, though, because Oscar is the first human friend he's had since all this began. It meant a lot to Arthur. Faroe seems like the safest bet imho - it won't impact his safety going into the future, but I agree that it's totally antithetical to his person. Losing his memory of meeting John would undermine their entire relationship, and we don't know what S4 is going to have in store for them. I'm voting Oscar but hoping it fucks Arthur over real bad >:) Especially when he pulls out Oscar's letter and has no idea who it's from. Maybe the Butcher can get a leg up on him for it too, if he ever comes back!

Lambda

I mean, we are just trying to get in the door. This could be like their equivalent of a donation plate being passed around. $5 cover charge or the memory of the birth of your son. I highly doubt whatever benefit the cult members get from doing this is one we want besides being able to get inside. We're here to disrupt, not go along with their practices.

faeyoli

That's fair. I felt it might be an offering to the being they worship, might be food for it, might be like putting your name in the Goblet of Fire, or might simply be a $5 entry fee 😅 But you're right, we DON'T want them to succeed.

Nicky

Don’t know that any of those adjacent things would be lost. He could retain all of that and just not be able to recall that there was someone else involved or who it was

Nicky

I’d also argue that Oscar is still a very meaningful memory. 1) his first real connection with a fellow human since this whole mess started 2) Arthur got to be someone’s Parker (helping him see past his pain and start moving forward with purpose again)

faeyoli

Please don't misunderstand me; I never said Oscar wasn't a meaningful memory. I just said that out of the three choices, it is the least meaningful one. Do you disagree with that assessment? If your argument is that the memory of Oscar is meaningful enough to pay the entry fee (if that is what it is), then I fully agree. But my assumption was that it was more than just an entry fee and that there would be significance on whether we choose the hardest or easiest to lose memory here. Sorry if my wording was not clear in my original post u_u

Marvin Tanner

I hate being on the moral majority but Arthur would never I think give up one of the few happy memories of his dead daughter. If he did volunteer to lose it he would be even less human that John I also worry about what the entity will do with the memories. I think it is best to assume that they don't just disappear but are "known" to the creature. If that is the case I are worried that giving up John's meeting would not only rock a rocky relationship but also revel too much info to an enemy. So Oscar the less of three relationships and the lesser of three evils

lana

Faroe has saved Arthur mentally so many times that I genuinely cannot put him through risking losing such a precious memory :( and also the idea of Arthur and John going through another amnesiac arc… this feels like it has something to do with kayne lol. sorry oscar you’re the lesser of the three evils </3 OH but maybe if they meet him again Arthur can introduce him to john the next time around like he did with noel :3

Axel

Just remember that our top priority here is keeping Arthur safe. That includes his mental state.

Nicky

I’m reluctant to make assumptions about exactly what this is, but I agree it’s likely the choice will somehow impact more than just Arthur’s memory.

Raven Fritz

Oh shit Oscars letter, if we forget him, we may not care about it anymore I forgot, even more bad to come from the choice we're sticking with. It's still right, but all of these are bad choices

ACE

Honestly I'm looking forward to the delicious, delicious angst of Arthur reading the letter without a clue who Oscar is

Teakettle

I am standing on my voting to write in the duck pond, although my second preferred option is meeting John. Both of those are singular events, with the duck pond being the closest to the birth of a son, at least vibe wise. Knowing Oscar is a much wider temporal arc, which I am worried would impact on much more than the other two, especially if this means we forget the memory - we might lose the details of the last few days.

K.M.

Ah! The duck pond was something Arthur said he did every single day of the summer, and was the happiest time of his life! I think he would be “offering” the whole thing

Catherine Giles

I think it would be incredibly poetic for Arthur to forget meeting John. Very symbolic, just like John "Forgot" his time when he swapped with the KIY in Arthur's Head. Also.....how about that letter? I wonder if it would help to read it before our offering. However....it would just be the duck pond memory with Faroe, right? Not forgetting Faroe entirely. I can't remember, but I don't think it was the duck pond memory that kept Arthur from being completely subsumed by KIY. It was a different memory. So if it's JUST the duck pond memory, that's a powerful memory to offer up, and we would still be protected in case things go super south.

PrettyBoyDevito

I say “Meeting John”. If we do forget the memory we submit, we have both John AND Noel to fill us in on what we’ve forgotten.

Aga

It's my first time voting and it's already a tough choice! Also, I find it very touching that despite all the pain and trauma they went through, "meeting John" is amongst Arthur's positive memories.

Jillian Pogoda

I can’t believe you all chose Oscar! We have other memories of Faroe, I think we can afford to lose the duck pond-

Positive

I'm going to EXPLODE, one of the options is MEETING JOHN being a happy memory. 🥺🥺🥺(catching up rn)

GPTC

Oh fuck.... oscar...THE WHOLE THING TOO??? I think this will bite us hard it's a huge chunk of development

ElissBell

I was too late for this poll, listened ep after it was already decided...fuck, this will be my roman empire for a while
