Do you know that Young Neil has a nice little arc on the comic that was left out in the movie/show? On the comic he kind of realizes that everyone dumped on him and in turn becomes a bit of an asshole. "I'm young, I'll grow out of it."

He gets over it immediatly after Scott show the tiniest bit of apreciation for him in the climax.
