Hello you lovely deviants,I wanted to create this form to get your feedback on aspects of a game or mechanics of a game you felt become redundant or obsolete the further you got into a game. For example, maybe the need for visiting the shop becomes irrelevant beyond selling items because the items stocked are just not worth it. Or you find using potions or buffs don't matter because you're now too strong so who cares. And then to those obsolete aspects, do you have any suggestions or how it could be turned into or change into something more useful - maybe a secondary use I also want to note I don't want any mechanic to feel like a chore or pain, but rather do my best to retain its use in reason.

Gift of Hedone: Redundant Mechanics

This is a form for you to suggest aspects you run into in a game that you feel as you progress become somewhat redundant or you feel no need to go back to./

Its possible that you can sell stuff inside the shop you cant get anywhere else, maybe also a tip jar for each merchant so you can "Tip" their jar. Another thing is to reward the player to use the shop for things

La experiencia, pero refiriéndome a, necesito crear 30 objetos diferentes o repetidos que no usare para subir de nivel y poder hacer algo que de verdad necesito, parece obvio pero sorprende la cantidad de juegos que tienen ese formato para progresar.

The experience, but referring to, I need to create 30 different or repeated objects that I will not use to level up and be able to do something that I really need, it seems obvious but surprises the number of games that have that format to progress.

Use ia to translate, sorry

This is really great feedback, thank you MelRaf! :)

Thank you so much for your feedback Spirit, you always have great insight!

I wouldn't say I have great insight, its a lot easier to see things from and outside perspective looking in then inside looking out. you would have been able to see it yourself, im sure you can come up with even better ideas

It never bothered me, when certain NPCs became redundant like the Job Trainer in Ragnarok online (visit once to become a arch mage, never again). Rather an easy nostalgia bait for developers, when that npc comes in the endgame like “remember me?”. Bothering is mostly QoL stuff. Not being able to make the same dish 7x times at once in Zelda BotW. If I have to visit the shop to sell and walk thousands of miles … I will hate the shop. Stardew Valley has the box to directly sell something on the farm. (No walking) But if I have the choice and get 20% more money if I go directly to the shop (be rewarded for my effort) it’s gonna be a different story.

Ohhhh thank you so much for the suggestions, I really do appreciate it. Especially the idea of visiting the store to sell Vs maybe just selling out and about (almost like a delivery fee haha)

When side quests give you low tier loot when you are already strong as hell getting legendary stuff pretty consistently

Allan Beach

I think I already filled this out a while back? Or is this something different?

nsfwpixels

Thats a great point, appreciate the feedback :)

nsfwpixels

Something different, prior ones have been related to Loot specifically or side quests rewards and incentives, this one is more about stuff that can feel redundant late game

Allan Beach

Oh ok. I will fill it out for ya. Sorry about that.
