Hello you wonderful deviants,I need your help, Im really unsure about how I feel about the Axolotl race as the water race, I like the idea of a monster girl inspired by it, but not as the main water race. I dont have a logical reason, im just not vibing with it as much as the other races. You can see what it looks like hereI would love some recommendations from you for some other water based creatures that you think would make a cool water monster girl race in the comments below, or in my DMs if you feel more comfortable with that.

How about an otter race that sound interesting

Joshua Young

What about a race of underwater humans like atlanteans that need a water helmet to be on land?

LegoMiner

What about full Water Sprites

Joshua Young

Or reverse mermaids that have a fishy upper torso? Like scales and gills?

Moonshine Game Devs

I mean... I acknowledge this one would be a lot of work, but maybe they all look like different types of aquatic creatures? Clownfish girls and eel girls and axolotl girls all hanging out together

Leviathan

Could do like a lamp ray fish people where they mesmerize you. Mermaids are of course generic but available. Or you could do squid people

SairentoKangi

I'm just in love with shark girls myself! Spicy yet sexy most of the time.

Silent

How about slimes? Like Suu from monster musume?

Kanji Tatsumi

May sound a bit weird but what about electric eels i think that could be cool. I also think the Axo could be a sub race for the water monster girls.

Comic Addict

Jellyfish women would have a nice amount of jiggle. 🤷🏻‍♂️

GreatRedFox

You could also add some different monster girls, such as a female version of Sobek the Egyptian god (crocodile), or female version of the African god Nyami Nyami (half human, half serpent)

Arvom (Giulio)

I understand the feel of axolotl being like the cute sidekick, for a water race it depends on the environment you choose to put them, you can be inspired by the apex predator there like in a swamp could be a lamia or crocodile (heven hippo u know 😏) or if it's in the sea a shark girl and so on, sorry it's long, hope it would spark some ideas ^^

Thank you so much for your suggestions my friend, you never miss!

nsfwpixels

Ohhhh that's a really interesting idea thank you so much Adam!

nsfwpixels

Haha I love that you are "jiggle first" thinking

nsfwpixels

I love the suggestion, it's super unique!

nsfwpixels

Thank you so much for the suggestion my friend!

nsfwpixels

Love all the suggestions thank you souch Leviathan!

nsfwpixels

As much as I'd love to do multiple variants (maybe I can explore background NPCs) my plan is to pick one, but I appreciate the feedback!

nsfwpixels

That's a really interesting thought thank you!

nsfwpixels

Now that's an adorable suggestion! I really like this!

Travis Hay

You could do an Anglerfish subspecies as an enemy.

Tommy M

There's also water elementals, octopi, sting rays, maybe some with coral for hair or accents, crabs, someone prior mentioned sharks, manatee and whales for BBW

Jr Paul

There was a TTRPG I played years ago, and they had two races of waterfolk! One for freshwater and salt water, the freshwater one were axolotl, but the saltwater one was sharkfolk! And different species of which hammerhead, tiger, great white etc

nsfwpixels

Thank you so much for all the suggestions Tommy!

nsfwpixels

Love this comment, that's a really good point and consideration for which types to explore!

KingKongKim

I think the axolotl one is very creative personally, but some other animals you can try to base the race on are otters, beavers, harp seals, penguins, red-eyed tree frogs, dolphins, sharks, crocodiles or orcas!

Mr.Juki

Why not take some inspiration from the monster girl encyclopedia books ? :)

nsfwpixels

Wow, thank you so much for all the suggestions I really appreciate it, and appreciate the feedback about the Axolotl

nsfwpixels

Thank you so much for the suggestion Juki!

PJ

I love the axolotl idea, to add to it though, there could be like cuttlefish (feel like a lot of fun could come from this since they can naturally swap genders) 🥰

nsfwpixels

Thank you so much for this suggestion cranky 😊

Mitchell

I saw a comment about fresh vs salt water folk which gives you some flexibility. I think Squid/Octopus ladies could have some cool animations like using the tentacles to give hjs and such

nsfwpixels

Thank you so much for the feedback and suggestion Mitch I really appreciate it!

Brad Godkin

I really like the Acolotls a lot! But I will say everybody loves a good shark girl hehehe

Kerchak

Take a look at the nixie, a water race from Dungeons and Dragons.

Gillyweed

If you're looking for something more 'aquatic', I'd go with Naiads (water spirits). Less time/work could just be a base water design, and more time/work/updates could customize them based off their body of water (rivers, streams, lakes, oceans, coves, etc.). If you're looking for something more 'monstrous', yet something that will set I you apart from merfolk, try thinking about different kinds of sea life. I personally love sea mammals, so an otter/seal/whale/orca could be an interesting route, though I also really like the 'jiggly jellyfish' comment.

nsfwpixels

awesome, really appreciate the suggestion, I will check it out!

nsfwpixels

Thank you so much for your feedback and suggestions Gillyweed, I really appreciate you taking the time! :)

Gillyweed

Yeah, no problem! Sorry if I ever seem uppity or if I'm ever talking too much. This seems like a fun game in the making and I'm excited to see it when it comes out!
