Movement feels pretty good, but strange feeling when you reverse direction mid jump it immediately starts moving full speed that direction. Feels like it should first stop for like half a second, maybe a full second then continue moving. If you're trying to time a jump it can be a little difficult.

nsfwpixels

Really appreciate the feedback flex, thank you!! 😊

when doing a higher jump, or just falling a more noticeable fall, the falling animation starts for a short time and restarts very quickly, like it's only the first frame showing and repeating. Best shown at X:56 Y:4 (the platforms I can walk through but jump on) dashing off either side). with me the movement feels like it has input delay and like I'm moving through slime, good and decently responsive, but also slow and unresponsive like I'd jump straight up and try to move but then it'd move a crawl only until I start falling does it actually take my input for wanting to move. (can be seen anywhere by jumping straight up and then moving before hitting the peak of the jump, holding space the entire way). I like the sliding of the backgrounds in the same movement direction, really cool, though personally it's a thing I gotta get used to the visuals moving so I know how far to jump, stopping too short on the platforming (X: 68 Y: -0.9) I can cut my jumps short because of the 3d effect, a setting to toggle this would be great, Amazing playtest and I love your work, have a great time and you're doing amazing things here!

nsfwpixels

Thank you so much for the solid feedback I really appreciate it! 😁 Mind if I ask if you were using mouse and keyboard or controller?

NotADeeJay

when only jump and dashing and not inputting anything else it would cause me to float down slowly and repeat the falling animation (it also made me be able to get under the map. if you need i clipped the how i did it) when jumping then moving left or right id have to wait till i reached the peak to move that direction, very helpful with the platforming after i got used to it besides those things loving the game so keep it up

DoubleDeathclaw

solid first build and those prior comments are the same things i noticed but no tearing and animations feel pretty smooth

Matteo Tizianel

this is the only real nuisance i found, the game feel better than most metroidvania out there. Keep up with the good work Jiggly Pixels you're awesome

nsfwpixels

Thank you so much for the feedback, I really appreciate it! This is all super useful so thank you!

Erik Larson

I love the overall look and feel of it so far! Thank you for doing this and sharing it with us, even in this state. Saving my notes on a notepad and will submit them all at once near the end rather than doing multiple tickets.

nsfwpixels

Thank you so much Erik! I look forward to your hearing your feedback 😁

I just tried the playtest! Noticed a few things, there is a typo in the keyboard controls section, it states "B or right arrow" to move right, but I believe you meant "D". While jumping around on the platforms there were a few times where I clipped the ledge and fell, but the character animation was switching back and forth between falling and something else. Also on the very last grassy area on the right hand side of the map, there was one time where I was jumping and dashed to make it to the land and at the end of the dash I was just on the edge of the land, but it would not let me walk to the right and continue to safety. I was forced to walk left and fall off the edge (does that make sense?).

Mrbattery 101

I didn't notice anything else during my playtime, but one personal preference is that the movement while jumping felt a little weird. The character continues to move left or right in the air even when you let go of the movement key. It makes sense because IRL you cannot just change direction mid jump, but it made the parkour on the platforms quite difficult.

flex

That's what we're here for

nsfwpixels

Thank you so much for the in-depth feedback. I really appreciate you taking the time to share this! 😁

The floating that NotADeeJay found also happen sometime if you fall really close to the edge of a platform, sometime you can get stuck at the corner of the stairs (can go back put not forward, both ways) x:18,045 y:0.972, you can recreate both by tapping the movement, overall the animation and ambient is really nice, just a couple of points from me: it's difficult to aim for the small platform since while you are in the air you move at the same speed as on the ground and when you stop on the stairs the idle animation look a lil be wierd (i know it's early stages and it's not in yet but something to keep in mind is the different stances for the terrains)

Arvom (Giulio)

Also i put this comment in the form as well to make it easier for you

magic

The movement feels Pretty good like most people said but i noticed that when you dash the background kinda falls behind and then jumps forward to center itself again when the dash ends, it feels a bit jankey/weird maybe adjusting the background travel speed to the dashes speed could make it a bit smoother

nsfwpixels

Thank you so much for the feedback Magic, I really appreciate it :)

Allévoy

Visually it looks spectacular, the movement feels quite smooth overall, and the detail of having some objects or NPCs in front of the image while you pass behind them is incredible. The only drawback I see is the jump — it always has too much power if you use the dash. Would it be possible to have two types of jumps? One by pressing once, short and precise, and another by holding the button, the big and wide jump you currently have implemented. Other than that, the game looks amazing, I love your work, keep it up ^^

nsfwpixels

Thank you so much for your feedback I really really appreciate it. I sincerely appreciate the honesty and suggestions :)

Momo's Workshop

The Movement feels great and all the background element fit very well however the only problem i have and i not sure if it is designed that way but when you jump in one direction then try to change direction in the air there is a 1 second to 2 second delay before the character changes direction.

nsfwpixels

Hey Ben, Thank you so much for the kind words and the feedback about the jump I really appreciate you taking the time to test :)

SR

just tested it, and its great but as ive seen others mention as well is the jump and also the falling, i feel like you fall a tad too fast like you are really heavy, but the jump i noticed a lot of lack of air control, if you just jump standing still you cant move much at all, probably due to the very fast fall speed so there isnt much room to move at all, but if you are running already and jumping then you have the same speed, also noticed you can stop midair example: if you run to the right and jump while you are in the air if you press the key or move the jostick to the left you will almost instantly stop in midair. didnt manage to find anything else, tried my best to get something to break but couldnt find anything that would put me under the map or cause it to crash so you are officially better than skyrim :D

Towwette San

I just tested it, and I'm used to trying alpha and beta versions. The movements are pretty smooth. Just the air control needs a little tweaking, but you get used to it pretty quickly. I didn't find any real bugs, even though I really tried to do anything. At one point, my game crashed, but I think it was because of my video project rendering on the side, not the game itself. Promising, I can't wait to see what happens next.

nsfwpixels

Thank you so much for taking the time to test, and for providing your feedback SR, it really means so much!

nsfwpixels

Thank you so much Towwette San for taking the time to playtest and for your feedback it really means a lot! :)

zero

I just tested it, it seems u carry a lot of momentum with direction changes, feels a little too fast but maybe that's just me( I run a 4070ti i9-14th gen if this info is needed) and there seems to be a some screen vibrations towards the top part of the game. but the characters looked nice and the dashing felt good

nsfwpixels

Thank you so much for taking the time to test and provide your feedback Zero, I really do appreciate it!

Grimm Wulf

running into that if i dash mid air and dont move after the dash, i kinda just slowly fall and the character model kinda glitches

nsfwpixels

Appreciate you letting me know Grimm :)
