Hello All!

This kid has issues and it looks like it's way bigger than initially thought too. Massive dynamic are doing some questionable experiments again! Nina is communicating with Belly via some device but she's unsure if he's receiving the messages??

Much love

Dakara x

And just when you think the cold opens could't get any darker or disturbing....they do!

French speaker perspective: none of these crêpes pronunciations is correct lol But yours is definitely better than Walter's. I love them savoury only. Lived a couple of years in Bretagne, they really do make the best ones. You can't find a decent crêperie here :( We had one restaurant breton, godddd they even had chouchen and then it closed and now that I'm reminded I'm sad again. Sorry, random comment!

So, just fyi, I think you may have misunderstood the closing scene? Tyler was a clone, one of several identical Tylers that Massive Dynamic created, and contracted surrogate mothers to give birth to. They must have some natural capacity for mind control, since they’re duplicating him, and they apparently finally had some success with this Tyler. The problem is that he looked up his birth mother, without understanding the weird circumstances of his birth. But she was never the wife of Dr. Carson; just someone hired by Massive Dynamic to give birth to him. So Nina knew everything about the experiment, and was even directly overseeing it, but Tyler “kidnapping” himself was not something they planned for.

Wait what?! I definitely misunderstood what was going on then because I didn't know that haha. Well I'll have to explain that mishap in next week's recording now. Did I just blank part of that episode out? I'm so confused now haha

I’m curious as to how different the pronunciation is in Metropolitan French then, in that case? The North American English pronunciation is based directly on the Quebecois French pronunciation, if I recall, and sounds pretty similar to the Canadian French (the Quebecois has a bit of a softer “r” and “a”, but it’s still a long “a”). I’m not very knowledgeable about the differences between the two dialects of French though, I gotta admit.

I think it was pretty easy to miss honestly, between the vague voice over, and the quick succession of shots during the closing montage. There was a brief moment where they showed some file folders with files on the other Tylers. Nina also said “one of the Tylers showed a true capacity for mind control, but…”, indicating they had multiple Tylers. She also told Bell that she made the decision to “suspend the project indefinitely” due to the chaos this Tyler caused, indicating she was the one in charge. Like I said, it was just split second stuff that was easy to miss.

Quebecois tends to have the ai sound from what I've gathered (only been to Quebec once so I'm not very knowledgeable either but we usually need a hot sec to get used to their French. It's quite different in sound). In France it's the ɛ sound. Here's the comparison https://forvo.com/word/cr%C3%AApes/#fr ETA: Oh and ofc the s is silent in French. I'd need to relisten all 3 pronunciations of both John, Josh and Dak (lol you're part of the cast now) but John's made the least sense to me. Oddly enough his pronunciation of moules à la crème normande a few episodes ago was quite good. Josh is Canadian so technically should handle French words better but I've heard him sing in quebecois before and yeah not really lol

You are spot on, Dakara! It is NOT the fringe science that really makes this series great - it is the characters and their relationships and interactions ...

"Peter always helps me." "How do I do this without Peter?". Ohhh wow Dakara, I forgot all about this scene. This is why it's good to rewatch these shows every few years. They keep giving back, they keep speaking to you, they keep their emotional impact. We need that, and I don't see alot of shows that are able to do that these days. Fringe is a gift that keeps on giving, at least for me.

Hey, thanks for using my comment! This episode…yeah I usually skip this one lol. I think I just don’t like the kid and it’s actually pretty funny because I never realized the guy from the new Jedi games and Gotham was this kid, but I never liked him in those, either lol. It’s purely shallow in those cases, I just don’t like his face

DB

Glad I'm not alone in my thoughts about this actor lol I know he got a lot of love for Shameless US which I never watched but to me he's forever that evil child from an early episode of Criminal Minds (the one with bb Elle Fanning iirc?). It's completely unfair, I admit, especially since the guy is probably in his 30s now and probably a perfectly lovely person.

Here’s my experience with Buffy, which might help inform your rewatch plans. I started watching Buffy during season 5 while it was airing live. Before season 7 aired, I went back and started from season 1 with my mom, who had come to live with me for a while. Together, we caught up to the live episodes and watched the finale. A couple of years later, I bought the DVDs in Europe to share Buffy with my friends. This marked my first rewatch. At the time, I remembered enough to notice details and anticipate what was coming. My first solo rewatch happened a few years after that. This experience was different. I remembered so much more, and instead of simply noticing bits and pieces, I could fully appreciate the nuances of what the characters (and actors) were doing. The depth of character and world-building stood out—the amazing details and purposeful elements placed years in advance to evolve both the characters and the story. This changed Buffy for me. It wasn’t just good or fun - it was brilliant. The more I remembered and noticed, the more I was amazed by the complexity and the care put into ensuring it felt like a living, consistent world. Now, I rewatch Buffy about every two years. My first time watching with a reactor was a few years ago when I stumbled upon Liam Duke. It brought back the joy of sharing the show with friends, and Liam’s clever making a good experience. However, during my most recent rewatch, I tried a few reactors, and while it was fine, it felt like work. Seeing them miss things, lose focus, or fail to understand was frustrating. I mention this because rewatching with someone smart and engaged makes a big difference - which is why I’m here. **TL;DR** There are benefits to not remembering much during a rewatch; you can re-experience the surprises. However, I found that remembering more made the experience richer. It was like watching a *new* version of the show, with all the added insights letting me see beyond just the storyline. PS - Fringe is amazing to rewatch, and similar to Buffy for the same reasons. I was never a person to rewatch shows or movies, in general, I still don't. What I do rewatch has to be epic and I must get something new each watch. Buffy is obviously number one, but Fringe is number two, even above Angel.
