Hello All!

Poor Astrid in this one, she really wanted to protect and then ended up in harms way, OMG Walter's reaction to her being in danger though - can he NOT?! The tears were real haha. The MOTW wasn't great...it was a no from me. Way too gross.

Much love

Dakara x

The Astrid-Walter stuff is the saving grace of this episode...

DB

ngl Walter makes me cry like a bb in this one but not in the same scene as you. I cannot handle him trying to call Peter and then sitting so lost at that bench. I find mental decline incredibly distressing. Emergency numbers on the clothes being such a reality for caregivers of Alzheimer/dementia sufferers. Peter's frustration with Walter not remembering giving way to more patient approach. And I wonder if Walter's quest of independence is subconsciously fuelled by the fear of Peter leaving him if he ever finds out the truth. I've recently discovered I'm not as squeamish as I thought. Apparently as long as it's not insects or spiders I'm fine. Snacked my way through entirety of The Substance lol You closed your eyes and missed my favourite small moment of the episode - Peter's reaction to Walter handing him the worm! It just cracks me up!

DB

BTW is Walter singing the same song he was singing in that episode with Charlie getting pregnant? (lol what a sentence) It was giving him courage back then, right?

Neumann

ooo, that's an interesting theory about walter's desire for independence!

this episode is an exercise in whiplash between teary eyed tenderness and utter disgust lmao. it may be best not to eat just before watching this show just because you never know when you'll get a creepy crawly you know who we REALLY haven't seen in a while? fricken agent jessup. literally just there for 2 episodes and then poof! not even referenced, like she never existed, which makes it even more bizarre that that's literally how i recognized her when she and harry got together/went public lol

I totally agree that one of Walter’s main motivations in seeking independence is the fact that he fears getting left behind by Peter when the whole thing comes out, gosh i love that relationship so much.

This episode is another greatly underrated one especially because it’s sandwiched between ep 8 and 10 the are both pivotal episodes for the series as whole so this one often gets forgotten but it does so much in terms of character work when if comes to Walter that it also becomes pivotal. John Noble is outstanding in this one because just like you mentioned he makes forget that you are watching a tv character and especially for people that have had to deal closely with dementia in their life this one is truly a gut punch, just fantastic writing enhanced by fantastic acting. P.S. I don’t know who told that Fringe is not a gory/gross show because they were definitely lying XD, this episode is up there in terms of grossest scenes ever.

This episode re-enforced the huge crush I have for Astrid!

I'm guessing calamari is off the menu? 🦑

I just noticed this is one of the few episodes Walter calls Astrid by her name when near the end when he comes back to the lab.

This was up there with one of the most emotional episodes so far. I was a blubbering mess throughout as well
