Hello All!

What an episode!!! I have never been more scared to lose our Walter than I was in this reaction! Also I'm angry at William for putting Walter through this but I'm fully aware I don't know all the details yet. I felt very much like Peter in this where I wanted to hurt anyone that put Walter in danger is2g! I'm so thankful that Olivia chose to help with the cure!!!

Much love

Dakara x

Thomas Jerome Newton = the name of the title character, played by David Bowie, in film "The Man Who Fell to Earth" David Robert Jones = the real/birth name of David Bowie I think it is fair to say that Fringe showrunners were fans of David Bowie!!

Dakara, You will have noticed how Walter's demeanour instantly changed when the three parts of his brain were connected with the brain itself; he was much more abrasive, rude, self-absorbed, so yes, I also share Olivia's opinion - losing those parts of his brain made him a better man, and definitely a better father. On a different topic - you might have wondered why Newton didn't give Olivia an incorrect sequence of injections, which would have killed Walter... Well, that would be a spoiler - I will expand on this when it is time...

I know we're supposed to empathise with Walter. And I do. It is incredibly sad to think of Walter abandoned in that institution for so long. But Peter's guilt over it? It breaks my heart. I get it, of course. His relationship with Walter has been significantly improving, it's only natural he feels guilty. The thing is, unlike Olivia, I don't think he has anything to make up for. He had legitimate reasons to avoid Walter. IMO there's nothing wrong with keeping distance with a parent that is damaging to your mental health. And if Peter considered Walter a bad father at best and an abusive one at worst, he had every right to protect himself. Of course human emotions are more complex than that and it's all easier said than done. Peter feels so guilty because he cares. I just don't like the idea that he *should* feel guilty just because Walter is a nice person now.  I know I'm being very defensive of Peter but come on, it's obvious how blindingly endearing current Walter is. How easy it would be to take his side in this and just say "yes, Peter should have been visiting his dad regardless of his shortcomings as a parent" as if it's a default setting for a child.

Now that you've watched 2x10, you can understand the confusion we all experienced when we saw 2x11 after it following a one month break. Mainly that came from Charlie's presence in that episode and absolutely no mention of that being weird or anything, of a flashback or memory. I've seen some other discontinuities pointed out, too - hairstyles, a few characterizations, things like that. We only found out it was really a season one episode after the fact. Watching that episode with proper first season continuity made it a much better episode than if you'd watched it after this one.

You're correct in assuming this is a turning point for the show Dak, I can hardly wait for a few of the episodes coming next this season and the next! From now on I dare say the best stretch of Fringe begins and there will be fewer and fewer standalones. I am loving your reactions and I just know it's going to be an even more fun ride with you and these characters in the coming weeks

Interesting, I didn't know these bits. I knew there were a couple song references but had no idea Bowie was this prevalent in Fringe. (It's funny that these types of tidbits that can make me love something even more. ) 8')

There is a CD out in the world by the band "Violet Sedan Chair". Apparently it is one of Walters favorite bands. They don't really exist in the real world though. Such a weird thing to do for a production company.

Paris is the name of the character that Leonard Nimoy played on the TV show "Mision: Impossible".
