Hello All!

So the machine parts are being collected! Peter, I hope you're right! There has to be another way. Alt Olivia needs to start believing in our team, they're good people Liv, trust!! I guess for her, it would be easier to keep that distance and believe that Walternate is the one to honour and trust...

Much love

- The above should solve your issues, in the odd case it doesn't, I can only put it down to it being a fresh upload and too many people are accessing the link...on this occasion I typically leave a temporary link at the bottom of the description. This lasts for 4 weeks after my initial posting. The exceeded views does reset so please be patient & try again on another day.

It is becoming harder and harder for me to leave any meaningful comment without it being at least a little bit spoilery...

ok but why did the "they discovered the vacuum" "the vacuum cleaner?" made me laugh so hard. Imagine some ancient long lost civilisation perfecting a dyson in their spare time. BTW the number stations are a real thing. There's a few podcasts that have episodes about them. And yes, they've been around for a very long time, more than 70 years. It's the kind of mystery I enjoy ngl I don't think a definitive answer has ever been given as to what they are but tbf I think it's more intriguing never knowing. The truth would never live up to people's expectations (just look at Toynbee tiles).

Man this episode is so slick, it just flows perfectly, it’s just one great scene after another and great final reveal (confirmation?) that Walternate is sending them to find the pieces of the machine on this side, just great stuff that advances the plot fairly quickly but doesn’t feel rushed and that ending… boy things are about to get wild. So the big debate for me in this episode, and based on you post ep. discussion yours too, is where is Fauxlivia’s mind at the moment, how much is she still loyal to Walternate and/or how much is she “warming up to this side” and starting to rethink her mission? Nobody can answer that fully at this point in the show but my interpretation is that she stopped believing that the people on this side where “evil monsters” that were actively trying to destroy her world pretty much as soon as she arrived on this side and started interacting with them but that she continued her mission because she is just built that way, she believes in following orders (even when it goes against her instincts) much more than our Olivia does but at this point she is stuck, because she knows that the people on this side are good people but she has her orders from someone that she has no reason to believe would lie to her, because we have to remember that Walternate is pretty much the guy that saved the alternate universe from total destruction thanks to the amber protocols and the creation of the Fringe division which answers directly to him, so why would someone from the other side and even more specifically a Fringe agent not believe Walternate when he says that what they are doing is for the sake of restoring their world? We as the audience know that Walternate clearly has a deeper grudge against this world and that this “war” that he speaks about was mostly started and fueled by him over the years and that saving his world is only part of his objective and not the whole story but nobody else knows, this conflict of images between the way we get to see him and how the “common” people see him is very cool, frustrating for sure, but very cool. So that’s the main conflict in Fauxlivia’s mind and then to add and extra layer you throw in her relationship with Peter which complicates things even more because if her mission had stayed on the professional side it would have been one thing but by being in a relationship (no matter how fake she makes herself believe it is) with someone who is supposed to be her enemy makes her judgment even more complicated, especially because that person is Peter who is actively trying to find a way to save both worlds. To continue on this last topic i loved the first scene with them in bed together, because once you get past the frustration of seeing Fauxlivia stealing this moment from Olivia (and the frustration is a lot XD) the scene becomes a microcosm of how she feels at the moment and i believe that her reactions to Peter pampering her are genuine and only when Peter gets the call from Walter she is snapped out of that moment and she realizes just how much in deep she is in this relationship and her face is great, she is so scared in a way that we haven’t seen before and once again that is what makes her a great character imo. Loved all the conversations in this episodes, so so good, Peter and Walter, Nina and Walter, Astrid and Walter just fantastic work all around and great use of the whole cast in pure Fringe style. The numbers are such a cool mystery , loved the way they are introduced and what they bring with them, so it seems that these “first people” where the creators of the machine and then they left this encoded message to find the pieces mmm…. Things are starting to heat up as we saw in the final scene, can’t wait for next week!!! P.S. Really liked your post ep discussion especially the part about the difference between Walter and Walternate and that they represent, i won’t go too deep into it but there is going to be A LOT to talk about when it comes to them in future episodes and i can’t wait to hear you thoughts.

unless the origin of those numbers actually WAS something insane lol

I'm so glad you're watching these two at a time, so you've (an we've) had one of each every week. When this aired, it was super frustrating watching only one every week and having to wait two whole weeks between episodes set on the same side.

The reason our Olivia keeps jumping into a gift shop is because the lab where she's conducting her experiment is at the base of the Statue of Liberty in New York on the other side. When she jumps over, she appears in the same location--on this side, there is no lab; there's a gift shop in the base of the Statue of the Liberty for all things Statue of Liberty related.

To expand on this, an “easier” way to remember this is how Brandon explained it at the end of season 2, the two universes occupy the same physical space they just vibrate at different frequencies so when Olivia “travels” she doesn’t really go anywhere she just “tunes ” herself on that universe’s frequency but she actually doesn’t move at all.
