Hello All!

RIP Alt Lincoln. Really held his own in this Lincoln focused episode, I'm impressed. This character(s) has such a warm and likeable presence to him that it's not been difficult to welcome him into the show & the core group. Fun to see Fauxlivia as always and more so now that this version isn't working to blag the group and taking that aspect away is allowing for more enjoyment too.

Much love

Dakara x

Hi Dak, hope you’re feeling a bit better and i also hope you didn’t push yourself too much to get the reaction out. Lincoln is a character that i don’t bring up that much when i talk about he show in general but it’s one of the most well integrated of the whole show which was not an easy fit considering he is the only one that wasn’t introduced in season one and came in only in the season 2 finale, they really managed to make it feel like he has been a part of the show all along and this episode is a great showcase of that. Just a great episode with some really fun and insightful dialogue between the two Lincolns and Fauxlivia and a really good monster of the week, the rogue shapeshifter, loved how they parallelled his experience with what Lincoln is going through. Alt-Lincoln said at the beginning of the episode that nothing fazes Fauxlivia and that she never cries but boy was he wrong…😭, RIP. In general this episode made feel much more for “our” Lincoln than the last few of them because imo they had focused a little too much on the romantic side of his “lost” relationship with Olivia and not so much on the parter aspect of it that they do in this one, i really feel bad that he lost the one person that had tethered him when he had lost hi pattern which was pretty much his whole family and now he is looking for a new purpose and maybe he found it 👀. Regarding your thoughts on the Olivia’s memories subject, i think it’s perfectly fair to feel conflicted about it she did lose a lifetime worth of memories in the process of reverting back to “our” Olivia and that is absolutely sad for the People around her like Nina and Lincoln but for her too because she now lives in a world that she kinda has to relearn just like Peter is doing, which makes the (very powerful) choice of letting her memories fade and letting the old ones take root even more impactful for her, it’s always going to be a controversial decision but one that i think greatly inform the character of Olivia and ho she perceives the world and i totally agree with what you said at the end, knowing Olivia as we have come to know her in this many episodes and season we should really trust her judgement and her feelings and let her choose which life she wants to have and that’s all there is. Also yes ep 19 after 22 (the finale) and before 5x01 (the premiere), once you’ve seen it in that order i really think you are going to agree with us because it really is considerably better as a first viewing experience but i’ll be curious to hear your thoughts about it!!

I hum the intro, too 🥰. I do feel sorry for losing Lincoln like this. First his heart was broken and now doesn't know what he wants any more. When this season first aired I was disappointed his partner Robert was only there for one episode, because I really liked Joe Flanigan from his role in Stargate Atlantis. Looking at his IMDb page, his career really hasn't gone anywhere. I don't get how someone with so much natural charisma can't get more work acting.

Like someone pointed out before, Fauxolivia doesn't cry so it shows the impact Captain Lee's death had on her was almost overwhelming. Also something to point out, unlike Olivia or for many women, she said very early on that she likes the 'nice guys'.

this is such a great episode, and for it to be this great despite almost none of our main cast to even be in it (olivia/fauxlivia being a gray area) really speaks to the strength of...really, everything in the show lol. the characters are distinct and engaging enough, and the world is interesting enough to not need the main group or even really the main plot (which was tangential at best lbh.) both lincolns have always been so wonderful and of course we'd be sad that alt lincoln died, he's the one who delivered henry in the original timeline and cried when he thought his olivia had died! he may have a thigh holster and lasik but he's just as soft and good as our lincoln! re: elsa's comment and how olivia choosing her memories "for peter" is controversial in the fandom; i'm with elsa but for a slightly different reason: she didn't choose her memories for PETER, she explicitly TELLS nina that she's choosing the new old memories for herself because she felt she was a better version of herself with them, EVEN if she couldn't be with peter (which was the case when they had that talk.) respectfully, if someone actually thinks that she did that for peter, they weren't paying attention lol

Indeed, putting 4x19 after 4x22 and before 5x01 is likely going to result in some amazing (and emotional) reactions. Enjoy!

Not to mention that 4x19 - has (at least) 3 major spoilers for this season's final 2 episodes IMO. It's not worth spoiling yourself, just to watch in the order it was aired, rather than the intended order.

christian chirico

Yeah totally agree, i would argue that watching it “in order” takes a good 80% of the suspense/surprise out of the final two episodes which means that it pretty much ruins them imo, i get why they originally aired it in that way but watching it that way now knowing the context of the finale of the season finale and season 5 really makes no sense and i’m glad Dak is going to have the best possible experience on a first watch 😊. Also i truly think that ep 19 is actually a better premiere episode for season 5 than the actual premiere, it’s just a better intro into that setting, so it not only makes season 4 better but also 5 imo.

DB

Apparently I completely repressed the memory of Alt Lincoln dying. This was not an episode to watch at work over a lunch break...

4x19 is 4x19 and should be watched in its normal order, between 4x18 ad 4x20, like it was on the air. This isn't like Firefly where the network messed the intended order, or 2x11 which was filmed and intended for season 1, or Buffy and Angel, where the episodes needed to be coordinated. Changing the order in this case is a silly fandom whim and doesn't reflect the actual show as it was meant to be seen. It would ruin absolutely nothing to watch the show in the correct order.

christian chirico

i’m sorry but i respectfully 100% disagree, while the situation might not have been like firefly it’s clear (at least to me) that when they made episode 19 the they still were not sure that they were going to make season 5 (or at least what it was going to be about) and that’s partly the reason they put the episode there, almost as a what if scenario and when it first aired it worked fine that way. Also i believe you are factually wrong when you say that it ruins nothing in the finale and maybe that’s due to the fact that it’s been a while since your first viewing (and maybe you first watched it as it was airing) but i recently watched another reactor watch it in order because she put it up to a poll and her reaction to the finale was clearly affected, so no i don’t believe changing the order of the episode is a “fandom whim” but it’s about giving people the best possible first time viewing experience, there are no advantages to watching the episode in order and many disadvantages in doing it (if you want i can give you a list) so i personally don’t see a problem in changing it, it’s an episode the adds absolutely nothing to season 4.

Katie

Yep, I watched in order and it completely ruined the season 4 finale for me. This viewing order makes so much more sense. I don't see any advantages in watching in 'airing order'

PaulReacts

Yep 100% it spoils some things. Just watch it yourself one more time to see. It's not silly, it's the actual chronological order of the events! Everything in 4x19 happens after the events of 4x22 - and you find out almost everything that happens in the finale. All the major bits anyways. And 3 of them at least are major reveals of the finale which means watching 4x19 spoils all 3 of them in one way or another. There's no downside watching 4x19 after as the finale of season 4 doesn't spoil anything from 4x19 (while doing the opposite does!). Cheers.

El

Foreshadowing and nonlinear storytelling are not spoilers, but telling a reactor to deviate from the expected episode order IS. This is as silly as watching the Marvel movies in chronological order of the events in them rather than release order, or watching Star Wars in episode order.

christian chirico

I really think you’re too focused on this whole preserving the way the show aired thing personally, even if you are right and they were trying to do some cool non-linear storytelling, which i don’t think they were considering this is the one and only time in the show they do this, but let’s say that they were, that does really trump getting the best possible viewing experience when you first watch something? Because to me it doesn’t, like at all, the only thing i know for sure is that i’ve seen at least 2 other people react to this specific sequence of event and have a very muted (proportionally) reaction to the finale caused by watching ep 19 first, i just don’t see the value of preserving the “original” experience in case maybe the authors were trying to do some cool non-linear storytelling (which i don’t think they were), i really don’t, especially because personally i believe they were just experimenting with a what if scenario that they then decided to follow up on in season 5.

Since I only saw this once, when it aired, I didn't remember details of very many eps, but when Lincoln showed up, I had a strong feeling that A Lincoln dies, but I wasn't sure AND I wasn't sure which one it'd be.
