Hello All!

Possible new show here guys? This one seems fitting following The Expanse BUT I don't know how it will be received so I will await your thoughts. I thought this was stunning visually and I can see that there's a very complex story behind it too. The Dawn, Day, Dusk aspect has peaked my interest for sure. Let me know what you all think in the comment section below <3

Much love

Not sure where to post show suggestions, but Silo on Apple TV is really good and has been commissioned for a third and fourth finale season already!

Shaman615

Yes!!! Please make this a regular series. This is based on one of the greatest sci-fi novel series ever (though it came out ion the 1950s I think, so many people aren't aware of it) by Isaac Asimov. It is the first mention of a galactic empire in literature. They have modernized it for the series and, though it strays somewhat from the original material, I think they've done a great job adapting it.

I've enjoyed the show Foundation, I think you'll like it too.

Blunderbutts

Foundation is definitely an interesting show. The sci part of the sci-fi is less grounded for sure, I remember The Expanse starting out with stuff that's at least a little bit close to technology we've got today, whereas Foundation is much further advanced with Trantor being fancy, and all the other worlds in the galaxy that they mentioned. Be really interesting to see what other pilots you've got in mind. I'd second Silo as an option, especially as it's been commissioned as a full story, and I'd also suggest Battlestar Galactica as a personal favourite - lots of politics and interpersonal drama in that one, and the pilot episode(s) is basically a self-contained story presented as a full length film.

Wreath

I read the books about it. I love! Hope you will love it too.

Beat Conductor

All of the stuff with Empire is consistently like 9/10. Worth watching the show just for that aspect alone.

Beat Conductor

I think the way they have been doing it thus far is about the only real way you could make this story work on screen.

I hope you're feeling better. I would have preferred you to take a little more time off, you look a little drained still. Nice reaction. I know only the title, so this is the first I'm seeing of it. It looks incredible. The music is very well done, and the dialog is very matter of fact. The characters speak what is on their minds, in a veiled sort of way. I like the idea of a galactic empire ruled by a triad, that's really three aspects of the same individual. And the idea of special "jump" ships to shuttle between star systems, and space elevators to ferry beings from the dock to ... where ever. Not sure I like the Emperor Day, he seems very arrogant. We've already seen that he likes getting his own way. Nothing lasts forever though, so the empire will collapse and be replaced by something else. At least that seems to be what the show is about. I could be wrong though.

Dark Chronicles RP

Hey Dakara, hope you're doing well. I just finished binging all 3 seasons - this show is good, I think you'll enjoy it.

Gandu Bal

Also hoping for this to become a regular show!

Murder Bot is another great one on apple tv. they really seem to be killing it in the scifi genre and the budget they have for the effects their shows all look amazing too. Murder Bot is a nice short one. 10 episodes at about 25-30 minutes each. Foundation is climbing the list of favorite scifi shows. this show is very information dense it would be impressive if anyone was able to fully follow it on a 1st watch. if you do move forward it might be useful to watch a recap of the previous season before starting the next. but then again i watched a recap of season1-2 before starting 3 and it was still information over load lol. the foundation was the inspiration for a lot of scifi the came after. this is based on books from the 1940s and onward. not that i knew anything of the books before this.

Beat Conductor

This is definitely a show that rewards a rewatch. I've spotted so many clues to the plot after watching it 3 times. I also think I know what the mystery is too. The show hasn't revealed it yet, but if you pay close attention to what the show explicitly *doesn't* tell you, you can figure it out.

Thadman

I knew the guy, that plays Jared Harris' assistant/protege from the show "How to Get Away With Murder." I only watched the first few episodes of that show and then I noticed him in the Harry Potter movies also. Not sure where you may have seen him. I'm only 9 mins in, so you may say it later.

Thadman

You were correct, right off, about the posh Kiwi accent. Took me longer to realize.

Thadman

BTW, I just read that they're working on a fourth season for "Pushing Daisies!" I was like, "Wait, WHAT?!? NOW???" Apparently.

What I'm getting from Hari's testimony (about at the 45 min mark) is he's saying the Empire will last only 500 more years, give or take, and then after civilization falls, there'll be a period of darkness for 30,000 years. He's proposing that if they follow his way, his precautions, that the period of darkness will be shortened to only 1000 years. That's what it seems like to me. I have been watching show, but I haven't rewatched it and this feels like it's clarifying some things that I wasn't either catching or retaining on first watch. It is a pretty dense show, especially in the beginning when you're trying to get a lay of the land and its players. I do love it and it's positively gorgeous, but that's Apple TV+ for ya. They seem to spare no expense for their sci-fi shows. This show has that epic/vast story feel of something like "Dune," but I found this more accessible. I could understand and follow it better than with Dune. If you're not watching it with subtitles on, I don't know how you do it on these dense sci-fantasy type shows that have all new made up names for ALL the nouns (people, places & things) and concepts. But, if you can do it, good on ya.

Thadman

The logic was of the Empire offering to Gale that if you disavow Hari, he gets executed as a heretic, but if she agrees with Hari, they will both be executed as heretics. Also, they were given Terminus, this harsh world on the outer rim, neighbored by the "barbarian planets" with expectation that they will fail and be killed, which would show the galaxy that Hari and his followers were wrong and Empire is strong. Empire asked if there was a way to slow down the decay of the Empire and he said, yes, to stop the Imperial cloning. Meaning to mix up the gene pool, have babies and stop just decanting (yes, they have no bellybuttons) more of the same person, Emperor Cleon I. They didn't seem to take that suggestion well. 😁

Magus

Yea with game of thrones after season5 I would rewatch the whole show right before a new season would start each time picking up more things. I havent revisted the foundation yet just remember enjoying it. hadnt seen any reactions to it until season3 so this is my first full rewatch of this episode and already picking up things. its going to be hard to top the expanse for me but after a few rewatches this show might end up in the number2 spot. assuming it ends well. Like season 1 of lost... loved it. by the time that show was over it was put on a list of meh wont ever be rewatching this

Beat Conductor

This and From are the only thing that come close to The Expanse in the TV world. For movies I think it's only LotR.

Beat Conductor

You got the foundation of the show right, just off by a few small details. Dawn/Day/Dusk are all clones of Emperor Cleon 1st. The three we are seeing now are something like generations 16/17/18. So when you said "Wait, did he not have a belly button?". No, he doesn't, because clones don't need umbilical cords. Also, this show is kind of like The Expanse in the sense that you're not supposed to understand everything right away, or even soon. There's some plot-lines that are multi-season back burners.

SaltyInternetPirate

I somehow watched the whole first season and missed the labels saying however many years in the past or future something is relative to the last time period, and it was very late in the season that I figured out I've been watching multiple timelines of events and why I wasn't able to follow through on them.

Ventena

Pretty good high-fantasy/sci-fi show with fantastic actors and music. I havent seen season 3 yet, though, so I'd be happy to watch it with you if you pick it up.
