Hello All!

Fear of Blood in this one making a certain person go wild! Its an interesting concept to have fears and adrenaline and paranoia be manipulated and taken advantage of in this X Files case. A lot of lives lost by technology messages being blagged to the brain here. Was Mulder immune? Did it not kick in yet? I have questions!

Much love

We need someone to keep track of your ratings on all of Mulder's neckties, and then tally the average when it's all done.

Looks interesting about that concept.

I really like this episode. For some reason, the very goofy, "Do it!" and "Kill 'em all!" worked for me, especially with the super intense, dissonant chords over them. I think the X-Files is at its best when its stories center around unreality and paranoia. There's just a super unsettling feeling in episodes like this. Also, fun fact, yes the nurse was a bit over-aggressive on the doorbell, but the pattern of the buzzes spelled out KILL in Morse Code.

Loved your shocked reaction at the beginning when the machine read out was kill'em, you said kill'em all, the the read out was kill'em all. I immediately thought "It heard you!". Then you recoiling in shock. Mulder does seem to get the short end of the wardrobe budget. His ties range from blah to nope!. Whereas Scully's look is always stylish. The sort of outfits that you would expect a professional woman to wear. The Lone Gunmen would be insulted to be compared in any way with the Geek Squad. I'm sure that Frohike has a conspiracy theory that covers it. And he is crushing on Scully(who could blame him?). The killer/victim is William Sanderson, best known for his role on Newhart as Larry(I'm Larry, this is my brother Daryl, and this is my other brother Daryl.).

Joe Villalobos

A bit of human psychology, blended with technophobia and a little environmental pollution, packed into one episode. At least it wasn't as gross as the last one. LOL

I read a Dean Koontz book before this aired that made me prick up my ears and eyes that was about subliminal programming where there was a chemical release in a small town's water which made them more "open" to subliminal signals. So, people who didn't drink the water would just see regular TV programs (& radio) but those who had would intake that programming that was broadcast underlying the signals to heart and they wouldn't realize it. There was an author's note that said that all of this technology, and subliminal messaging, is used and real. The only thing that wasn't was the drug that made people more open and it was suggested that the government(s) have been trying to create something like that for a while. The really scary thing, to me, was that, unlike hypnosis that can't make you do something against your nature/programming from upbringing, subliminal programming can be made to tell you to disregard that and it overwrites it. Like the people in this episode that didn't know what was happening, but they took the instructions as true to them and they needed to act on them. It seems crazy to us, but the programming says, "No, this makes sense. You have to do it to survive." It's a messed up concept and that's why I liked the story and it still stuck with me. That and the fact that there's only one fictional component stopping it from being a reality. Who knows? That was 30 years ago. Maybe they do have something like that now.
