Hello All!

One of the most gross episodes to date imo. I just ate which I don't think helped matters, that's on me, I should have known better at this point haha. Dr pimple popper would have had a field day with these guys! Glad no children were harmed! I am also surprised Scully didn't end up bound and/or gagged, there's a first for everything hehe. Onto the next one we go...

Much love

Dakara x

Lucius Fox says it in Batman Begins, "If I don't know anything. When people ask, I won't have to lie.". Pharmaceutical companies use this mentality when it comes to their research. They tell their employees only as much as those people need to know. Less if possible. That way the company can keep a lid on whatever drugs they may be working on. And yes, sometimes a company will expose a death row inmate, so they can test the efficacy of their new drugs. That practice, though, is not legal in most states that have death as a punishment.(And no, I don't understand that logic either,) P.S. You should always wait at least one hour after eating before watching the X-Files.(PSA for the day.)

Charles Martin Smith has a fascinating resume. Not only was he one of the main actors in "The Untouchables" and "American Graffiti" he also did an episode of the X-Files (this one), he did an episode of "Fringe" and he directed the Pilot of "Buffy The Vampire Slayer", all shows you have some experience with Dakara.

Mulder must be doing something right because he scored 3 & 4 the past couple of episodes and you didn't even mention his necktie here. Alright! Almost caught up. Onto 2x23 now.

Joe Villalobos

This episode solidifies how strong and deep the "conspiracy" lies. Not about aliens per se, but it shows to what lengths the powers that be will go to "neutralize" the situation, whatever the "situation" might be. That's why Skinner warns him, take care because these people are dangerous to your health, as it were.

You're right, as a medical doctor, Scully should've known better than to expose herself (and others, she got that poor doctor killed) to an unknown contagion like that. As to the show's popularity, a lot of 2nd season episodes like this one are memorable to me. I was in and out for most of the 1st season (I was like 11 and terrified of being abducted by aliens so I skipped a bunch of early episodes lol) but by the 2nd season finale and into the 3rd season every one of my friends was hooked and it became the show to watch.

Killian Curran

Dakara, we were waiting for you to see Hank, Dean Norris who just appeared in about every show in the 80s and 90s in one or two episodes. His character is almost a dry run for Hank in Breaking Bad playing a Gung Ho Federal Marshal similar to his DEA Agent role in Breaking Bad. I thought this was a great episode, with the gross practical effects of the pustules bursting really well done. We have of course a conflict here of Scully saying to Mulder we want the truth but this isn't the time as the panic that could be caused. Felt really sorry for Dr Osborne getting infected which really was Scully's fault as she opened the infected body. Charles Martin Smith who plays Dr Osborne here played a similar role in one of my fav films Starman from 1984, where he plays the reluctant Government Scientist trying to help the Alien Jeff Bridges escape. A great ending to this one too on the bus, and of course the covert govt sniper takes out Paul denying Mulder from getting to the truth. Great prophetic words from Skinner at the end when he says to Mulder ' this is just the beginning' and he is right. A really great episode again.
