Hello All!

My schedule for Buffy will be 2 episodes a week here on Patreon. Hopefully one on a Tuesday & one on a Thursday :) please check updated Tiers.

Audio looks ever so slightly out once I converted the file for Google Drive (really sorry), I will try & fix this but I didn't want to be late with my upload so sharing this one anyways.

This episode had me howling! It was so odd seeing those arms pulling Xander away haha. Brilliant. Never trust a new hot teacher guys!!! LOL. A lot of fun again & I always love an appearance from Angel the shadow lurker haha.

Thank you all so so much for watching, hope you all enjoy the video & I will look forward to reading your comments as always,

Have a lovely week everyone! Thank you for the constant love & support!

Much love

Dakara x

lol sorry, Dakara, I'm skipping this one. But congrats on getting through the worst episode of Buffy!

Whisper_dvm

Definitely one of the least liked episodes. Glad you can enjoy the bad FX regardless! The first season had a shoestring budget but the effects get better later on but they still have some late 90’s/early 2000s cheese. The story makes up for it (well maybe not *this* episode in particular haha). The first season has its charm but it’s just the introduction to this world

You said that going to a teacher's house was a red flag for you. But it was really normal during my time in primary school AND in high school to meet up with the class at a teacher's house to do some bonding. Depending on the age we played games, planted something in their garden etc. In grade 11 and 12 we would meet at night, have beer, wine and pizza, and watch movies. Once we made raclette. Those days were some of the most fun experiences in school.

Love square. So angel likes Willow lol. While not the best episode i did enjoyed your reaction to the ridiculous mantis hands and uncomfortable situations xander was thrown into. What i like about what joss whedon has done with xander is he fits the role of damsel in distress that typically around that time women would be placed in. He is by far the most emotional of the group.

Whisper_dvm

Oh and the actress the played the teacher is from South Africa maybe that’s the accent you are hearing?

Meredith

Oh this episode…season 1 definitely has some duds!

Toasted Toad

Makes me laugh that as far as rankings go, this one has some equivalence to SPN’s “Bugs”. On the other hand, it has some drool worthy appearances from Angel - a young David Boreanaz. Doctor Who fx might have been a bit dodgy at first, but it was low budget 2005. They quickly became much better. I really think you don’t know what it’s about and you’re missing out.

Toasted Toad

But that would have been the whole class, I assume? Not one on one

Darynidia

Yes. A significant part at least (these meet-ups were always voluntary). I just wanted to offer my perspective, as it seemed like Dakara didn't seem to know these were a thing in some parts of the world. In the scene (to my knowledge) it wasn't clarified if Xander explicitly told his parents it was one-on-one.

Gina St Phillips

Musetta Vander who played Ms. French is Dutch/South African. That is the accent you were picking up. I think she was trying to sound more American, but the accent did come through. This episode is not high on my list of favorites, but the show is about surviving young adulthood at it's core, and Xander's experience as a virgin man among young men who lie and exaggerate their sexual prowess is absolutely relevant. The dangers of objectifying women, and considering sexuality as conquest rather than a healthy form of intimacy, is highlighted by Ms. French's flipping of the script.

Ian

Really enjoyed your reaction to this one dakara especially that jump scare that got you so good 😈 I love how much this show makes you smile its heartwarming to see 🙂"he's got a crush on a giant insect" lol that's something I never thought I'd hear in a sentence haha look forward to the next one 💙

Purple Nurple

Definitely the 'Bugs' equivalent of Supernatural - at least this one made some sort of sense (no big jumps or early sunrises for instance!).

Purple Nurple

Great episode to watch whilst drinking... loved your reaction to this. Supernatural ships were definitely doomed. Megstiel never really happened haha (I was definitely shipping that a bit after 'caged heat' lol). I'd be very interested to see if you start to ship anyone.

Ashley

Oh my lol. This was definitely good for some LOLs. I actually didn't think this epsiode was that bad. It had me laughing anyway haha. That's all I have to say about this one 😅. These reactions are a blast so far!

Jim Greer

You will realise as the show progresses that Xander is an idiot .

DakaraJayne

I didn't think that was a thing! Thanks for sharing Dary :)

DakaraJayne

Ohh...yes, that doesn't quite work ... or does it??? I don't know haha

DakaraJayne

If this is 'Bugs' I'm feeling good about this show haha. I will take your word re Dr Who. My husband has been trying to get me to watch for years now haha

DakaraJayne

2 jokes?! Your perfect wit is wasted on me my friend haha. I do love Xander's sense of humour. Thanks for putting good fortune out in the universe Joshua! <3

DakaraJayne

Ahhh I couldn't place it, thanks for the info :) You explained the episode perfectly! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I look forward to discovering more of this show & hope you enjoy the ride also :)

DakaraJayne

Jump scares are from the pits of hell Ian!! The ideas in this show are ones that are gonna make me smile for sure haha. Thanks so much for watching along with me Ian & I hope you're feeling a lot better

DakaraJayne

haha yes then Sharon! Glad you enjoyed. SPN butchered every ship before it even left the dock haha

DakaraJayne

All the lols, so much fun. Same here, like Shinyelfriend says in their comment above, it actually covered some key topics & had added comedic effect to top it off haha. So glad you're enjoying Ashley <3

DakaraJayne

Oooo, okays, I shall watch this space with him then

DakaraJayne

I guess I have great eps ahead of me in future seasons then because so far these are entertaining me haha

DakaraJayne

Maybe skip to the end to watch my thoughts at least? May entertain you & may make ya wanna leave your thoughts on the episode below too? <3

DakaraJayne

I'm seeing the cheese & embracing the cheese haha. Like you say it's just introducing the Buffy universe so it's important for other things & I'm sure it'll find it's feet. Either way I'm enjoying the ride so far :)
