You're being generous with a 7 tbh lol A lot of us are probably way harsher with the show's early days because we know its later quality. It's difficult not to be biased. I miss when the shows had intros. Personally I blame Lost for making a title card the new cool thing.

Oh really? That honestly surprises me, I was awaiting some angry viewers haha. Glad i'm not alone though. I do feel so much potential, I'm just going to have to wait to discover more. I freakin love these characters though <3 I did love Lost back in the day, not sure how much I'd remember of it now - it's been so long. Its the theme tunes that end up stuck in your head! SPN had title cards. One Tree Hill, Dawsons Creek, Charmed, Smallville ALL AWESOME Titles

Vacay starts tomorrow so I'll be a couch potato for a good 5 weeks. Great video and welcome to the Willow fandom, she is just the best. It's really interesting, for us old watchers, to see how newbs respond to Season 1. The style is not something that really exists anymore, unfortunately, and some really appreciate the cheese factor while others just don't get it. I've said it before, but I think these types of seasons/episodes really illustrate how to do a low budget production well because they less try to show you a story and more try to give you the pieces you need to build a full story in your mind. In a way that helps build the attachment deeper since what's in your mind is so much more grand than what an episode may have been. Also, unique for the time, is such a focus on the characters. As much as the stories are important the thing that keeps you coming back for more isn't the story ... it's the investment in these characters. In just 12 episodes the way they've been able to flesh out so many unique and relatable characters is quite the feat.

The loss of intros started before even Buffy aired. Look at, for example, boy meets world season 2. In the 90s there was an uptick in commercial time where, I think, shows started making changes to maximize the time they had to tell stories.

@Dakara It's a really weird thing. You spend 20 years watching and rewatching and analysing something so on one hand you want to hype it up because you love it, right? And because of that I see little moments in S1 where I'm like yep this is gonna be worth it because x,y, z... But someone who doesn't have that journey yet, hasn't seen this show at its best will not necessarily catch that. So you want to be honest but at the same time you want a new viewer to love it too? And you rewatch an episode so stupid that you genuinely think "no one will fecking believe there are serious academic papers written about this show after this!" lol So I guess some fans, me included, tend to judge S1 very harshly but try to hype it up regardless? lol

@GaveUp oh I know it didn't suddenly appear with Lost. I remember being obsessed with Alfred Hitchcock Presents as a kid and that didn't have an intro either (iirc?). I just associate the blink-and-you'll-miss it title card with Lost.

Dakara, My favourite episode - same as yours, the Angel episode. Back in the day as I watched it live without any knowledge or spoilers it was a big reveal... My favourite character - same as yours, Willow all the way!!!

Like you kind of suggested, this show had what I call "first season blues" where the show runner, and people behind the scenes were still getting used to working together, and only in the second season lessons learnt really start to bed in, and the real magic started to happen. I am super glad you managed to find enjoyment in it anyway, and look foward to know what you think as you continue to watch. It only gets better :-)

I enjoyed watching your journey though this show so far! Your rating is very fair! Whenever trying to get friends into this show I would tell them to just push through the first season. I love the first season for the nostalgia and seeing these characters so early in their arcs but it’s a shadow of the show it becomes.

I agree that 7 is a solid rating ,as I have said before this show really kicks off from S2 onwards . I am really happy that you enjoy Cordelia's character as I love how she just say's whatever she is thinking ( I think most of us would like to able to do the same ).Besides Buffy I don't have a favourite character Yet ! .
