WHaT On EaRtH...this one gave me the wiggins! Those creatures made me shiver to my core! Blaaaahhhh! Now i've got that out of the way though...I did enjoy this fun quirky episode & the exploration of their relationships. Its nice to see the key characters relationships growing & therefore my love of the, growing too. Angel & Buffy are getting closer & closer after each episode & I AM HERE FOR IT!

This episode is widely considered something of a bad egg.

This episode is not one of the strongest ones, but it has its moments. That parasite in Buffy's room jumped about as far as that spider did during your stream lol. Can deff see Buffy and Angel falling further, But all in all not too much happening in this episode. Feels a bit more like a set up one.

Buffy´s mom did see her fight of the bad guys in the school that one time. Or atleast she knows that she took control of the situation and kept everyone safe. Although she still isn´t aware that those were vampires. As far as she knows they were "just" some crazy drugaddicts. So she didn´t forget it, but she also doesn´t know that Buffy deals with this stuff on a daily basis.

It tends to vary by state and by school district. Usually not THAT early, but... 7:30-8:00AM start times are not at all unheard of. I was fortunate in that where I grew up, the start time was 8:48AM, with the day running until 3:12PM. Weird times, I know.

Yeah, it's... not a good episode, but I don't think it's quite as bad as it's reputation suggests. I've always found it's biggest sin to be that it's pretty much the textbook definition of a filler episode. And for the "live" fandom back in 1997-1998, it was the fillerest of filler episodes coming as the first episode after the Christmas hiatus I don't think did it any favors... (I've always wondered if it was MEANT to be the first episode after the hiatus, or if it got bumped into that spot when post-production on "Ted" ran late and they had to delay its broadcast by a week.) But that doesn't explain why the "newcomer" fandom hates it as much as they do, too... :-)

I don't understand why this episode has such a bad reputation, I like it! They always come up with some lame excuse why something supernatural happens, like a gas leak or PCP gangs and you wonder why everyone doesn't pack and leave town, but I guess when you live on a hell mouth, you accept any excuse offered and block out anything in your memory that contradicts it. I mean, from day 1, when The Bronze was full of kids when the vampires came for the Harvest, I think it was Xander that said nothing would ever be the same, but they walked in to school and everything was perfectly normal. Everyone had already accepted the stories rather than face reality. Buffy's mother is smart. You'd think after Buffy burned down her school gym, got expelled, and then what happened when Buffy's mom was there on Parent night, she might begin to at least suspect, but she doesn't want to, I guess.

As many complaints as people have about this episode I rarely see this mentioned: Cordelia asked a woman of color if that was her real hair. Oh, Cordy, nooooo. You never ever do that.

I think the reason people have a problem with this one is that it feels kind of... shallow? By this point, we're used to Buffy's monsters of the week being metaphors for real-world issues or the episodes at least having some connection to the larger themes of the series, and this one really doesn't. (Well, I guess you could read something into the whole "children" taking over their "parents'" lives thing. So maybe the theme of the episode is, to quote Mean Girls, "Don't have sex, because you will get pregnant and die!" haha. I doubt that's what they were going for, though--I think they were just trying to make a fun little Invasion of the Body Snatchers homage.)

I've gotta tell a shameful story I've been keeping to myself for years lmao About 10 years ago I was at my son's soccer game, and this dude with dreadlocks walked up to me and said something about liking my hat (it was a knicks hat, both fans)... and as an ignorant white kid from suburbia, I wanted to say something nice in return, so I was like "thanks man, love the dreads, I would love to have those for myself"... and he kinda just looked at the field and subtly shook his head, but kinda chuckled. He was a cool dude, tho, didn't get mad. I think he kinda pitied me, cause he could tell it wasn't malicious, I was just dumb. In my head I was just like "what did i do?". I went home later that night and asked my buddy, Google, why this guy seemed to get annoyed by my comment. Several hours of research (and twitter arguments) later, I realized why he reacted that way, and I literally still think about it today. It's embarrassing. But he was chill and we talked at every game for the rest of the soccer season. With Cordy tho, Sunnydale is pretty much as white as they come... I'm honestly unsurprised. lol

Dakara noticed a parallel between stuff always happening to Cordelia and stuff always happening to Jonathan (aka the dude from Gilmore Girls) ; I don't know if it means something but if it does... I can't figure it out! lol This episode is not one of my favorite, but it does have a alien/invasion of the body snatchers vibe. (Then again, I'm not a big fan of horror movies, so it may be why I don't like it that much.)

Both of my kids' schools start at 8 and end at 2:30 and 3:00. And "I'm gonna beat you like a red-headed stepchild" is a pretty common joke/saying where I live lol. I didn't know it was a regional thing!
