Hello All!

Bit of an odd one this episode regarding the MOTW haha. The fish guys were...interesting. I loved the comedy! No surprise there. Was also loving seeing some familiar faces! Great casting as always. Seeing Cordy fawning over Xander in his wee speedos was hilarious to me. The guys creeping on Buffy made my skin crawl, very uncomfy from the start. What makes me chuckle about this show and others is that the death count and missing person count is high AF and yet people just crack on haha.

Have a lovely week everyone! Thank you for the constant love & support!

Much love

Dakara x

The BLOOB

Not great placement for this episode... Kinda breaking the flow of the season imo. It's not like it's terrible, its just way too close to the finale. Cordy standing by faux fish monster Xander is about as cute as she's ever been tho. Dakrya should be safe in this one.

Dave Ford

Your comments are fair - this is the epitome of 'Monster of the week'. Perhaps think of it as a palate-cleanser for the delicious banquet that is the season finale. Still, I'm still faintly disquieted by Buffy's rather rapey 'Those boys really love their coach' quip at the end. Eww.

Chas Summers

Allegedly this was a S1 script that was hanging around. It's not on anyone's favorite ep list to be kind. On to bigger and better things...

Bart Aansorgh

Its abit of a weird ep. Plenty fun, but nothing special. They definitely had the Insmouth look though. This is really a monster of the week episode, which feels a bit weirdly placed. Would have been better swapped with one of the earlier episodes perhaps. Willow remains great though. Interigator Willow learning some chops :")

Ed Green

I don't agree about the placement. It's definitely a much lesser episode, but it has levity after the last 3 have been heavy, and before we plunge into a likely heavy finale. Plus, it has a frisson of horror that these guys are now fish forever - they could not be saved. That sets up the mood for the higher stakes typical to any season finale. The fish design is silly, but that's the 90s for you. Of the three least good episodes of Season 2, I'm still going to watch this whole reaction. I didn't for Reptile Boy or Bad Eggs.

Nica Marie

I see so many complaints about this episode yet no one mentions the aspects that are still relevant. The entitlement of athletes to whatever they want: including, but not limited to the bodies of others. The sexist attitudes of school staff and administration. So much of what we see happening to Buffy in this ep. (aside from the MOTW stuff) is still happening to young women today. Be they in junior high/ middle school, high school, college or even the workplace it is still happening. Can we focus on that when we discuss this episode?

Allan Cornett

I have only seen this once. I never watch reactions to this cringy episode. Weird placement of such a bad episode before the season ends.

The BLOOB

Problem for me with that stuff is how heavy handed it is. These are exactly as you said... serious issues that are still unfortunately happening. But the episode plays it out in the most over the top, no subtlety at all, type of way... and I think that's why people don't talk about it much. The message is there, but the execution is lacking.

Josee (Griffe)

The only two things I kept from this episode are:

Josee (Griffe)

The only two things I kept from this episode are : - Hey! Isn't that the guy from Prison Break? (Yes, it was Wentworth Miller) - For all his pettiness, stubburness, and sometimes cowardice, Xander still care for other human beings and he is ready to fight for them.

That’s Not Acting

Yeah, so this isn’t exactly an example of the best of Buffy but it can be fun and I’m glad you enjoyed it. ……and now….. 😅

Jim Greer

Like the others have already said not a great episode . I only rewatched to see your reaction which was fun as always .

Ian

not a great episode tbh but i did enjoy all the fish puns i found myself spacing a little trying to think ones up as the episode went on , i imagine the writers had a blast with this one though lol but it was still fun watching along with you and to think almost another season over already wow its going by fast . love to salem she behaved herself bless her :) shes a good kittie

kittenpoker

I second the request for more cat cameos!

ADDButterfly

I still enjoy this one more than the season plot episodes. I have always liked the Monster of the Week episodes more.
