Hello All!

WILLOW & XANDER??? I didn't see this coming...Is it just me that felt this was random?? IDK, I'm just not much of a fan of this right now. Cordelia & Buffy rivalling each other like in S1 too, a few call backs to past behaviour. I didn't enjoy Buffy going for Prom Queen, I can see why she did it but I feel her intentions weren't right. It all worked out though in the end. I'm enjoying seeing Faith & wanna see more of her too. I do reeeeally hope that Willow & Buffy start talking to each other more though, I want their friendship SOLID! Guys....i'm addicted to this show!!!

Have a lovely week everyone! Thank you for the constant love & support!

Much love

Dakara x

Also, if she tells Willow, Willow would be in turmoil about having to keep it from Giles and Xander. We all saw how Xander felt about Angel at the end of season 2 and Angelus tortured Giles. As much as Giles should know that Angel and Angelus are different beings (though Xander never seems to get it), he doesn't seem to make the distinction when it comes to his own torture. Understandable, but I'm always on Buffy's side in her decision to keep it secret (or, at least, I understand it). People make the claim that good communication solves everything, but it doesn't. That's just not human nature. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Todd Bolton

Good insight, though I think the "they're teenagers" defense is overused. I don't think there's anything in the Buffyverse that adults are not also prey to. I never understand why the idea is that we're supposed to be *for* the relationship to realize it's great drama. Willow and Xander are against the best interest of every character, but it also represents a character flaw and is great drama. I think a lot of people are fooled by the ironic, romantic music that underscores Willow and Xander's scenes (much like the over-the-top music of Xander and Cordy's first kisses) - which is absurdly done in The Zeppo, with Buffy and Angel. Whedon is always playing with the genres.

Todd Bolton

Buffy wanting to be Homecoming Queen is in line with what we have seen time and again – her desire to lead a normal life. (Also I always remember her wistfully looking in on Cordy getting dressed for May Queen.) This is a more direct exploration of it (and probably why it isn’t a good idea for her to pursue it too hard). And, also, with comic episodes, you need to give a little more latitude. (Though I wouldn’t call the Xander-Cordy stuff comic, more like tragic. Whedon can never be put in a genre-box.)

Tim Pierce

I told ya you'd fall in love.

Tim Pierce

The scene with Willow and Xander wasn't entirely out of nowhere. It's a little delayed, but remember what Xander said at the end of last season when Willow was in a coma. Like something awoke within him. And Willow's always had feelings for Xander. And when I was a senior at my school we could have our own pictures taken, professionally. Clearly Buffy had a picture taken for her campaign, so what's the prob?

Christopher simeon

Random is not the right word. More ill-timed. Willow has always liked Xander and Xander has always loved willow as his oldest friend but in the finale when she almost died i think that moment made him realized how much he truly cared for her and he says "i love you". That opened the door of seeing her in a different light. Then seeing her look so good slammed it open and now it is difficult to close for both him and her as we clearly see. Now i told you before that these are not perfect characters. Add the fact that they are teenagers makes them stupid and horny. They have flaws. Those flaws don't make them good people but it does make them human. Even willow is not above that. That does not mean they aren't heroes. Last episode the therapist talked about being a slave to love and this episode shows two ways it can happen. Protecting Angel which caused issues with Scott and now we have xander and willow acting on those teenage hormones. Whedon rarely writes things just for plot reasons. Tho that does happen. Buffy not telling is not one of them. Its a character flaw

Cute little episode. Always seems short to me for some reason.

Ed Green

With the Buffy and Willow thing I feel that it's because Buffy felt guilty about leaving over the summer and at the end of episode 2 when they patched things up, that was at least partly founded on the idea that they'd both overcome Buffy's departure and were ready to get back to normal. But Buffy feels that if she tells Willow that Angel's back, it will bring up all of her feelings about her actions over the summer back up again, and she doesn't want to confront that because it will mean confronting her feelings that she let Willow down by becoming so conflicted about Angel.

ADDButterfly

I have to say. 'Switching on feelings' does really happen. You can easily never think of someone that way, and then once they are dating someone else, you realize that you lost your chance and it gets in your head and you end up liking them. I actually happened to me once, it was crazy. It is part jealousy and another part lust I think. So the Xander/Willow stuff is totally a real thing that happens. Also, as other commenters said, it has been happening this year, and at the beginning of the last year. Willow had the biggest crush on Xander.

ADDButterfly

She wanted a school picture in the yearbook. That professional picture was her own doing on her own time, and some schools don't just accept bring in photos.

DakaraJayne

It happens for sure. I think it’s easier when it’s yourself that’s going through it as you know your own feelings but as this was Xander going through it and we didn’t get to hear his thoughts and feelings to me it felt rushed. I will be the first to hold my hands up and say I was wrong if I end up loving the pairing but as if this episode, I was more concerned with how quick things were going and how this will effect Cordy as Oz. They are teenagers though so hormones will be running wild no doubt!

ADDButterfly

Yeah, I would have loved seeing more of the change, but sadly it is what it is. I'm so excited what you think of the rest of the season and the show.

Bart Aansorgh

Not my fav either. I did love the ending though. The Willow Xander thing is a bit meh for me. Though there is some history there, Willow and Oz just fit way better. The buffy goin for prom queen was her wanting to be normal, maybe as she was in LA way back when. I found that a bit awkward in the episode. I do feel for Buffy cause things aren't goin her way right now. Oh and Cordelia's line against the vamp was great :D.

The BLOOB

I think many of us like this episode more than you... But NO ONE likes the willow Xander stuff more than you. lol my spine shivers when I hear that song they were dancing too.

Merkavar

watching another reactor, so i am on like season 5, so its a bit jarring coming back to a season 3 episode. :D

Shona

I am nearly finished your supernatural reactions. Will the move on to Buffy, one of my absolute favourite shows ever! I don't know if you watched it or not, but if you like Buffy, it would be great to see reactions to Teen Wolf (TV)

DakaraJayne

Amazing! Hope you’re enjoying them. Buffy is quickly becoming an obsession so hope you like the reactions to your fav show too 💜 I watched the pilot of teen wolf which is here on Patreon and I will be 100% doing reactions to that show as soon as a slot opens up.

Allan Cornett

The sad truth is that by watching BTVS first other shows like Teen Wolf are at best average. BTVS set the bar so high other shows seem lame. I want to see reactions to Dollhouse and Firefly, two shows run by the same people that gave us BTVS.

Ed Green

Another option might be Agents of SHIELD, which is by Joss Whedon's brother and sister-in-law and has a similar vibe (and which stems from the MCU Avengers film which Joss Whedon directed).

Allan Cornett

Nope. Agents of SHIELD doesn’t even feel like Joss was involved . Dollhouse and Firefly are an easy run for reactions. Firefly one season and Dollhouse two seasons. I was excited when AOS started, then I watched it and my disappointment grew with every episode. I don’t consider it as a Joss show.

Josee (Griffe)

Dakara watched Agents of SHIELD already.

Allan Cornett

Good. I want to stay and watch her reactions and I wouldn’t do that for AOS.

Ed Green

How far did you get? Up to episode 17 or not?

Allan Cornett

I finished season one of AOS. I’m not saying it was a bad show I was just disappointed it was not a Joss type show and that’s what brought me to give it a try not because it was a Marvel show.

Julian Welton

I mean that makes sense because, I believe, Agents of Shield was Jed Whedon and his wife, Maurissa Tancharoen's, baby and Joss was pretty much just a producer. Personally I loved Agents of Shield. It had everything most of the current Marvel shows are lacking (stakes, character development, believable chemistry between characters, and etc).
