Hello All!

It all comes out about Angel... I go on a bit of a rant during this one, apologies in advance. I just adore the topics that are discussed in this show about Supernatural beings. Fantastic. Truly felt for Faith in this one, she's lonely & had to deal with that for so long & she's lost a lot too. Finding Buffy was probably so huge for her & when she feels Buffy is pulling away she kinda wants to push her to protect herself. I could be wrong of course, just what I'm seeing right now. This was a great episode & I'm genuinely excited to read your comments to this one!

Have a lovely week everyone! Thank you for the constant love & support, you're all amazing!

Much love & stay safe out there!

Buffy The Vampire Slayer Reaction 3X07-1.mp4

Love the drama in this episode. First thank you for pointing out the difference between giles and xander reactions. They both were very upset with buffy but Giles chose to speak out when they were alone and he did not need to yell or have emotional outbursts to make his point unlike xander. One is a boy and one is a man. Xander is very immature. Band candy even pointed this out by not having him change. His points are valid but that callous attitude hurts any leg he has to stand on. But remember that xander and the others only have buffy's word that she killed angel. And her not telling them calls into question everything she said. So all they see is her protecting Angelus the serial killer. Not Angel. Ask yourself does regaining his soul absolve him of responsibility for what he has done The line between them only exists to her. Giles says Angel tortured me. Faith and buffy are very similar and that last scene where faith does not open up is reflecting buffy's flaw right back at her.

I feel your pain. Watching an exceptional amount of British television from the 70's and 80's as an American, whenever an American character turned up, I was always like, "Why does EVERYONE sound like they're from the South? Even if they say they're from New York?" :-)

Such a good episode. Mrs Post is obnoxious and just makes you hate her immediately. She was good at deflecting attention to where she wanted it though. Willow is starting to crack under the pressure of the situation, so nearly telling buffy. Faith's.... faith... is really taking a beating here. It just doesn't seem to go her way. I do feel for buffy, with everyone ganging up on her there. Sure she kept it a secret, but they are then blind to what buffy is saying to them, forgetting a bit too soon what she went through. Especially Xander, she should just have punched him imo :). Buffy and Faith at the end is such a good scene, it shows their flaws and what they yearn for at the same time.

Yeah, so as much as Xander and Willow are projecting here, the Scoobies are in the right overall. Maybe Buffy would have a leg to stand on if Xander hadn't seen her literally kissing Angel, but... Also you can tell she's kind of scrambling because she accuses Xander of spying on her, which is blatantly false lmao. Also I don't know what the general consensus of this is, but I'm of the opinion that Xander is pretty much over Buffy at this point. He's already off in his own love square (?) right now. Buffy can say that he hates Angel because of his crush on her, and even if you take that as true or not, you have to admit that any of them would be well within their rights to hate Angel, regardless of his soul. Not to mention, during Dead Man's Party, we saw that Cordelia was on Buffy's side, Oz was neutral at the very least, and Giles wasn't even involved in the argument. But here, the most we have is Willow trying to moderate the conversation. Just trying to play defense here, because I often see people bash the Scoobies for the scene but, like. They had every reason to be freaking out!! Yeah, it got a little heated, but I think people make it out to be worse than it was, and assume the worst in the characters. Giles probably should have tried to take control of the convo sooner, but he's clearly hurting the most, so he didn't even want to step in at first. I think another interesting thing to note is how when Ms. Calendar was brought up in Becoming Part 1 as a point against Angel, Giles was furious about it, but here he doesn't say anything 😬 Also, screw Post 🥱

I know what you mean about British characters in American TV shows - and don't forget how old this is. But it's still fascinating to look back at S1 and see just how ASH's performance is changing. Clearly he (as an actor) is having an influence on both on the directors and writers.

The BLOOB

English are all "pish posh cheerio!" and Americans are all "Murica lovin gun totin cheesburgers!". What's the problem?

The BLOOB

I remember watching the show for the first time, and viewing almost everything through Buffy's eyes... and I felt so bad for her in this scene. I couldn't understand why they wouldn't trust her, shes Buffy! Now, I have completely flipped. Seeing it through any of the other eyes and you realize... from their POV, she's done nothing but be untrustworthy over the last few months. She ran away without telling anyone where she was, then she lied about Angel. Especially with Faith, who doesn't know her like the others and has no real reason to trust her. She's seen very little of the Buffy we have. At the end of the day, I can sympathize with her, but I still fall firmly against her in this argument. Xander, as always, says things in the jerkiest way, but ultimately was right... and when she tries to flip it on him "you were spying" it feels like a really dirty move to shift the blame. He was asked to go there, saw Angel and followed him, then saw him and Buffy kissing by chance... and their immediate reaction was probably "wait, did she even really kill him then?".

You have no idea how much some of us ship Buffy/Faith. You really do get vibes from them.

Bud Haven

You mentioned that Faith didn't have the confidence to say what she was thinking in that last scene. Then Buffy walks out and stops on the stairs, She almost went back inside to try again but also didn't have the confidence. It was mirrored in both of them that they could have done something more to repair their relationship.

Jim Greer

And once again Buffy gets attacked by her "friends' . If I was Buffy I would have snapped Xanders neck . Absolutely loved your rant .

Yep faith truly is the best 🥰 sadly her new watcher was the worst only thing good about her was the way she said Mr Giles 😃 Zander on the other hand is doing my swede in somewhat 🙄 overall though another enjoyable reaction and wonderful air drumming as always 🙂

Lauran Mitchell

Sorry, just catching up. I am lol that you picked up on the vibes between Faith and Buffy but not Dean and Cas. I was completely opposite!

Venice Bitch

I hate Xander so freaking much…🙏🏻

Ceara Abrahamsz

LOVE Xander ❤❤❤ and I'm sorry but Buffy deserved the confrontation. She was lying too much and was (unintentionally) putting her friends life at risk by sneaking around with Angel. (too much hate in the comments so gonna spread some Xander love) Faith and Buffy? I support! Would be a lot healthier then Buffy and Angel...💯

Ceara Abrahamsz

"So all they see is her protecting Angelus the serial killer. Not Angel. Ask yourself does regaining his soul absolve him of responsibility for what he has done" 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Xander is annoyingly condescending in this episode, and the intervention idea (very popular in 90s TV) was obviously counter-productive. But Xander does have a point. Buffy's lying to them because she doesn't want to deal with their criticism, and that's not fair to people who've had her back despite the way the fallout in S2 affected them as well. I understand why Buffy lies, but the minute she kissed Angel, all high ground was lost when it comes to whether her motives were self-serving or not. Xander puts the worst possible spin on it because of his own petty feelings, but...he's not wrong. She IS putting them at risk without their consent.

I had to chuckle at your comment about posh British accents. Another reactor I follow, who is also British, made a similar comment regarding all portrayals of Santa Clause giving him a posh accent. Anyway, I am thoroughly enjoying your reactions to a great series. For all the BTVS virgins who are following along, buckle up and hang on tight, this ride is about to take off in the best way possible. This is one of the best seasons of the show, IMO.
