Hello All!

WHAT AN EP! Giles, you surprised me here. I am relieved that his love for Buffy made him go against his work - better late than never. I'm gutted he has had hot Watcher title removed from Buffy...the next watcher better be rubbish so Giles has no choice but to be back on the case!!! I felt deeply for Buffy here, her trust was knocked massively and she was well and truly put to the test!! She of course succeeded because she's the BEST but I do think it's yet another obstacle that will leave a lasting impression. Like I always say, trust is hard to gain but very easy to lose and I think Giles has some bridges to build here. Great episode imo.

Have a lovely week everyone! Thank you for the constant love & support, you're all amazing!

Much love & stay safe out there!

Dakara x

Jeff Kober is the name of the actor who plays the vampire, Kralik. As well as acting he also teaches Vedic Meditation, and does art photography using wet plate techniques. Really interesting guy, has lead a pretty full on life at times. Has also been in a few things you might be familiar with (check IMDB) https://jeff-kober.com/

As you see all the characters are not perfect and we finally see giles flaws. Him going along with old traditions and breaking Buffy's trust hurts alot but what is important is he (like willow, Buffy, angel and xander earlier in the season when they made mistakes) feel guilt over their actions or try to make things right. I love how they used little red riding hood as well with buffy being vulnerable and wearing a red hood and "the wolf" later disguising himself as her to trick joyce. We are now getting to the juicer parts of the season. I hope you are feeling better as well.

LOVE Jeff!! Knew him for years from BTVS, Charmed, and Sons of Anarchy, but came to love him even more after his arc on General Hospital. He's so great and such a nice guy in real life. <3

Underrated episode in my opinion. So there’s a theory, that I believe, that the slayers are given this test at 18 if they’re still alive in hopes that they might get killed. An older slayer is going to be harder to control than a younger one. At 18 she’s legally adult and mentally maturing, ie able to make her own choices and question things. Great reaction!

RavenSteal

I support this theory. The council came up with the test to keep the Slayers young. So awful 😞

RavenSteal

Love this episode. ❤️ So dark and horror movie vibes. Running down the hall with all the doors, blood corpse in the kitchen. With the maniac after the girl. Aside from that, I love your character call outs at the end Dakara! Cordelia in the library is such a small moment with all these big things happening around her, but it speaks to who she is. Of course she will take care of Buffy and drive her home. And Giles love for Buffy is so obvious even cold-hearted Quinton can see it. 🥹🤓 I personally think Joyce's line is funny in the last scene when she's proud of how clever Buffy was when saving them from Kralic. "You should have seen her." Like it was a tennis match or something. 🤣

That’s Not Acting

Wonderful reaction once again. Thank you for taking the time to share this with us.

Jon Freezin-Rain

certainly an oft quoted opinion over the last 20+ years. One which make a lot of sense and with which I agree 👍

Ian

Wonderful reaction as always you picked it off perfectly dak swap the pills 🥳 the council sucks big time , great to see the legend who is ketch though 🙌 🙌. Not sure if I've missed something but where the Eck is faith 🤷 Buffy could of done with her around although she passed the test so perhaps not 🙂 willow I'm not sure an angry letter will do much but bless ya lol

Steve Quast

Yep. Hobson is, indeed, Ketch from Supernatural.

Steve Quast

I love how the last half of this episode basically transitions into a horror film.

Dave Ford

Still, as birthdays go, this was less awful than last years.

Blain H Granado

It only makes sense that the Council would choose Kralik, a killer of women, to be the antagonist of their test. The parallels between Buffy and Kralik are interesting as well. Both have issues with paternal figures and both are at a disadvantage in their battle (mental vs. physical).

Raven Dark

I always wondered if Buffy didn't call Angel because she was worried what the Council might do to him once the test was over. We saw what they did to Giles, it makes me wonder what they would have done to him because he's a vampire had he interfered. Very fitting shirt to wear during an episode that offers callbacks to Little Red Riding Hood. The little beasties on your shirt look like little wolves. :D Great reaction to an episode I've always loved.

Collinson

Came here to mention that theory. It really makes sense they want a Slayer who will do as they say and not have independent ideas of their own.

Bart Aansorgh

Well hey there Dakrya :). This episode is soo good. Its nerve wracking. And the head watcher honcho is very dislikable. Really i would like to pierce him with summat sharp. Giles just about managed to win back buffy's trust at the end of it, and Giles really is like a father to her now. Especially after her actual dad was a no-show. I love how buffy was fishing for giles to take her to the ice show. Fun fact about that, Sarah Michelle Gellar was actually a high ranking figure skater. I think thats why they worked that in. I completely agree with what Blain H Granado said above, so I won't type that again ;D. This show is just soo good and soo much fun to rewatch like this. Can't wait for the next one as usual. Also feel better Dakara.

Ian Caudillo

Actually those are the ghost Pokémon Gengar but I suppose the ears do look like wolf ears.

Raven Dark

No, I know, but I just thought it was funny that she happened to wear a shirt with something that, to me, looked like little wolves. LOL
