Hello Folks,

''second best' actor'...Woah...AMAZING! One of the best twists i've seen thus far! Truly shook & so hyped after watching this one. I'm relieved that Angelus wasn't truly with us & I'm so worried about Buffy's heart in all of this too! Faith is falling deeper into the Mayor's plans and I still hate it, no shock there, especially following the events in this episode. Cracking episode! BRING ON THE NEXT!

Have a lovely week everyone! Thank you for the constant love & support, you're all amazing!

Much love & stay safe out there!

Dakara x

Good point about Buffy's reaction to fake-Angelus being PTSD. I've see the episode around 20 times but that shed new light on it!

2026-09-10 16:00 Fun fact seth green (oz) was working on many acting projects during his time on buffy that he had to dye his hair for so the writers and directors of buffy really wanted seth green so they just let oz have whatever colour hair seth had at the time

I liked how they kinda called it out in an early S2 episode. Willow: “Your hair! It’s brown” Oz: “yeah. Sometimes”

Tim Pierce

When you rewatch this for editing pay close attention, there's little details that everything is not what it seems, from the point Willow tells Buffy to talk to Angel and beyond.

Denni Caid

I adore this episode. Faith's in her little evil mastermind rant and Buffy's egging her on, with Angel in the background being a little sarcastic ("Did anyone ever ask if you could be more like me?" "I know I didn't.") .... and then that quiet "Second best." The musical cue. The slow-mo turn. The moment of realization smacks you in the face. Perfection.

Claire Eyles

Okay, so I posted something about the film Buffy and Angel were watching, but I posted it on the wrong Patreon which was probably very confusing for anyone who read it. Oop, LOL! Anyway, let's try again on the correct thread instead ;D. So the film Buffy and Angel went to see at the beginning was called 'The Banquet d'Amelie'. The fact that they mention food and Kimonos makes me think they may have actually been referencing a Japanese/French arthouse production called "In The Realm of the Senses", which involved Kimonos and a fairly explicit scene with food.

Raven Dark

Two things of note here for this great episode and reaction. I don't see Buffy saying she needs a break as punishing Angel. I don't see it even as a breakup. After all, she said she was still with him at the end. I see it as her just needing space to think and process what just happened. And I don't mean, "I need space, let's see other people." I mean, just let her have time alone to process because it was a lot to see him as the same guy who killed Jenny, terrified her mom and friends, and tried to kill her. Second thing... Angel/Angelous wasn't hitting on Joyce. He was pretending to be the "good boyfriend" who likes Buffy's mom. It's like that thing where you earn the trust of the parent by noticing something nice about them and being friendly. There was nothing sexual in that at all. Trust me. Loved the reaction. Seeing reactors fall for the Angelous bit and then reac to to the twist never gets old. LOL Awesome acting in this one all around.

Well, now I am wondering what, if anything, were the chopsticks used for.

Claire Eyles

Ah, well the chopsticks were used to dip food into a certain area of the female anatomy, as a sort of erotic sauce. Then a hardboiled egg happened. Yeah, it's an explicit film, very arthouse, but explicit. It deals with sex, obsession and death, so not like just straight up porn, but there are some pretty graphic scenes in the film.

ADDButterfly

You might not see it. But I think Faith and the Mayor's relationship is so adorable and wholesome.

Bart Aansorgh

Great reaction. Many peopl have been fooled by the plot in this episode. I agree with what Raven Dark said somewhere here. Its not a breakup i think. It's a hey, i just had to watch you do stuff with another girl who has betrayed us all, while being reminded of everything that happened when you lost your soul. I need some time to recuperate. As (almost) always ofcourse, a great episode. I love how Giles is mostly just overruling Wesley. Cordy hitting on wesley stays weird. I'm with Xander on that one. Also finally some BUffy and Willow bonding again. Iookin forward to the finale :).

Ian

what a twist indeed that reaction was pure gold :) you gotta clip that moment its just amazing lol just brilliant cheers dak that was mint
